WSO Welcomes Action Against Bishnoi Gang; Calls for Full Transparency on India's Role
The Indian government enabled the murder of Sikh Canadians in Canada by passing information to the Bishnoi network and must be held fully accountable for this.
Accountability must not end with those who committed these crimes. It must extend to everyone who enabled, directed, or facilitated them.
The text is a press release from the World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) dated July 7, 2026. The WSO welcomes a coordinated law enforcement action by the United States, Canada, and Europe against the network of Lawrence Bishnoi and other organized criminal groups based in India. The action led to arrests and the unsealing of US federal indictments alleging racketeering, murder, extortion, and drug trafficking. The indictment alleges that Bishnoi and Goldy Brar ordered the murder of Bhai Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18, 2023, in Surrey, British Columbia. The WSO refers to statements by Canadian officials that India collected information on Sikh Canadians through diplomatic channels and proxies and passed it on to the Bishnoi gang. The WSO calls for full transparency on the role of the Indian government, particularly of Home Minister Amit Shah, in enabling or facilitating these activities. The text argues that accountability must not end only with the perpetrators but must extend to everyone who enabled, directed, or facilitated the crimes.
