The claim that God is present in creation or has multiplied constitutes a rupture of the fundamental unity of God and leads to exclusion from the Islamic community.

The text is a sermon that expounds on Sûrah al-ʿIkhlâs in order to emphasize the absolute uniqueness and incomparability of God. The speaker warns emphatically against certain Sufi-oriented groups that describe God as being present in creation or as multiplying. These teachings are branded as clear unbelief (Kufr) that leads out of Islam. The Hadîth "Allâhu Akthar" is interpreted as a designation of God's goodness and not of multiplicity. The listeners are called upon to warn against such teachings and to preserve the purity of faith (Tawhîd). Reference is made to the obligation to worship God and the fear of the Last Judgment. The text concludes with an exhortation to righteousness and a call to perform the prayers.

Praise be to Allâh, the Exalted. We praise Him, seek His support, guidance, and forgiveness. May Allâh protect us from committing sins. He whom God has guided will not go astray, and he whom God has led astray will not find guidance. I bear witness that there is no god but Allâh, the One, Who has no partner and to Whom nothing and no one is comparable. And I bear witness that our honored, beloved, and great Prophet Mu h ammad is the servant and messenger of God. He conveyed the message and admonished the community; may Allâh reward him more than all other prophets. O Allâh, grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his Âl a higher rank, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl a high rank. And grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his Âl blessings, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl blessings. You are the One Who is described with perfect power and grace, and the One Who has the right to be praised. Then, O servants of God, I exhort you and myself to righteousness and to the fear of Allâh, the Exalted and Almighty. Allâhu Ta^âlâ says in the noble Q ur’ân, in the Sûrah al-‘Ikhlâ s : ﴿بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ١ ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمدُ٢ لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ ٣ وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدُۢ٤﴾ The meaning is: I begin with the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. (Mu h ammad,) Say: Allâh is the One (1). Allâh is the One upon Whom all creatures depend and Who needs nothing and no one (2). He begets not, nor was He begotten (3). And to Him (Allâh) is not comparable anything or anyone (4). Brothers in Islam, this Sûrah is, despite its brevity, one of the outstanding Sûr of the noble Q ur’ân, for it contains the meaning of Taw h îd and the attributes of God, which demonstrate the faith of Muslims in their Creator. It has been reported regarding this Sûrah that the one who recites it once is rewarded similarly to one who recites a third of the Q ur’ân; whoever recites it twice is rewarded similarly to one who recites two thirds of the Q ur’ân; whoever recites it three times is rewarded similarly to one who recites the entire Q ur’ân. This does not mean that he is rewarded exactly as one who recites the entire Q ur’ân, but rather that he attains a great reward. The reason for the revelation of this Sûrah is that some people came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said to him: “Describe to us your Lord, whom you worship.” They did not ask this out of love for knowledge or for the sake of seeking guidance, but merely out of stubbornness. Thereupon, Allâh, the Exalted, revealed the Sûrah al-Ikhlâ s ; subsequently, the Messenger of God ﷺ said to them (in essence): This is the description of my exalted Lord. The first Âyah “﴿قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ﴾ ( Q ul Huwa l-Lâhu ´A h ad)” means that plurality and multiplicity are excluded with regard to Allâh, and that Allâh has no partner in His Self, in His attributes, or in His actions; thus, no one possesses an attribute that would be similar to an attribute of God. It is as Allâh, the Exalted, says in the Sûrah an-Na h l, Âyah 74: ﴿فَلَا تَضۡرِبُواْ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَ﴾ The meaning is: Do not ascribe to Allâh the attributes of others, i.e., do not describe Allâh with the attributes of His creations. The second Âyah ﴿ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمدُ﴾ (Allâhu s - S amad) means that Allâh is the One upon Whom all creatures depend and Who needs nothing and no one. He is the One to Whom one turns in situations of distress of any kind, as well as the One to Whom the existence or non-existence of creatures neither benefits nor harms. It is as Allâh, the Exalted, says in Âyât 56 and 57 of the Sûrah adh-Dhâriyât: ﴿And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. 56 I do not desire from them any provision, nor do I desire that they feed Me. 57﴾ The meaning is: Allâh created the jinn and mankind to command them to worship Him alone; they (the creatures) do not benefit Allâh. The third verse ﴿He neither begets nor is born﴾ (Lam Yalid walam Yûlad) means that Allâh does not beget and was not begotten. This is a denial of matter and fusion with regard to Allâh, i.e., it is excluded that something would detach from Allâh or that Allâh would dissolve Himself into something. Consequently, Allâh is neither an origin nor a descendant of others. The fourth verse ﴿And there is none comparable to Him﴾ (Walam Yakullahû Kufuwan ´A h ad) means that nothing and no one resembles Allâh, i.e., nothing and no one resembles Allâh in any way. Therefore, brothers in Islam, it is obligatory to warn against any statement that attributes similarity to Allâh with the creatures, such as, for example, that Allâh would be a body or would have attributes of imperfection. Regarding the H adîth of the Prophet Mu h ammd “Allâhu Akthar” (God is more), it does not mean that Allâh would be more diverse or more numerous, but rather that He is more merciful or more gracious. Accordingly, the one who interprets the H adîth with “more diverse” or “more numerous” is not a Muslim – may Allâh protect us from that. Some people who falsely count themselves among the S ûfiyyah claim that God is one in many, i.e., that He has penetrated into the creatures. They claim that God is one and many. They do not belong to the Muslims, even if they claim to be so. Their statement is clear disbelief, which allows no interpretation. They claim that nothing exists except Allâh and that Allâh would have multiplied Himself. Some of the alleged S ûfiyyah hold sessions in which they first repeat a s - S alâh for the Prophet and at-Tahlîl. Subsequently, they repeat the expression “Âh” while standing and swaying. During this, a person is located in the middle; he sets the rhythm and repeats the aforementioned claims about which we have warned, because they lead out of Islam. They pretend to belong to a specific T arî q ah (spiritual path). It was said to a leader from this group: How could you claim that Allâh would have multiplied Himself?! His answer was that the attributes of God would have increased, however, this claim also leads out of Islam. May Allâh protect us from those who distort Islam. Brothers in Islam, the attributes of God are unoriginated and imperishable, God Himself is unoriginated and His attributes are unoriginated; diminution and increase are excluded both with regard to the Self of God and to His attributes – neither do the attributes of God become fewer nor do they become more. Allâh is described with all attributes of perfection that befit Him, such as, for example, omnipotence, will, knowledge, hearing, seeing, and life, and He is exalted above all imperfections. Brothers in Islam, be warned of the alleged S ûfiyyah and those who falsely claim to belong to a recognized T arî q ah, for they are not on the right path. They have gone astray without noticing, and believe that they have become sanctified, although in reality they have fallen into disbelief; even someone among them claimed that Allâh would be comparable to water contained in snow – God forbid. The fact that man was created by Allâh and will also be held accountable by Him should always be kept in mind. This is all, and I ask Allâh for forgiveness for you and for me. The second sermon Praise be to Allâh, the Exalted above the attributes of the created beings. There is no god but Allâh. We worship Him alone with sincere devotion and we associate no partner with Him. Praise be to Allâh, the Creator of the universe. A s - S alâtu and as-Salâmu upon our honored Prophet Mu h ammad and all other messengers and prophets. May the love of God be bestowed upon the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, as well as upon the Muslim relatives of the Prophet, the righteous caliphs Abû Bakr , ^Umar , ^Uthmân and ^Aliyy , the rightly guided scholars Abû H anîfah , Mâlik , asch-Schâfi^iyy and A h hmad, and upon the Saints (Awliyâ´). Then, O servants of God, I call upon you and myself to righteousness and to the fear of Allâh, the Exalted and Almighty. And know that Allâh called you to something important. He has called you to recite A s - S alâtu was-Salâmu for the Prophet. Allâh, the Exalted, says in Sûratu l-´A hz âb, verse 56: ﴿إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِيِّۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهۡ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا ٥٦﴾ O Allâh, grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his family a higher rank, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his family a high rank. And grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his family blessings, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his family blessings. You are the One who is described with perfect power and mercy, and the One who has the right to be praised. Allâh, the Exalted, says in the holy Q ur´ân : ﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَ ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمۡۚ إِنَّ زَلۡزَلَةَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ شَيۡءٌ عَظِيمٞ ١ يَوۡمَ تَرَوۡنَهَا تَذۡهَلُ كُلُّ مُرۡضِعَةٍ عَمَّآ أَرۡضَعَتۡ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمۡلٍ حَمۡلَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلنَّاسَ سُكَٰرَىٰ وَمَا هُم بِسُكَٰرَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّ عَذَابَ ٱللَّهِ شَدِيدٞ ٢﴾ The meaning is: O mankind, be among the righteous. Indeed, on the Day of Judgment, tremendous events will occur. On that day, every nursing mother will forget what she is nursing, every pregnant woman will deliver her burden, and you will see the people in a state of intoxication, though they are not intoxicated, but rather the punishment of God is severe. O Allâh, we ask You to fulfill our supplication, to forgive our sins and mistakes, to include us among the rightly guided and not among those who have gone astray. O Allâh, we ask You to remove our worries and sorrows from us and to protect us from what we fear. O servants of God, Allâh calls for justice, good conduct, and the maintenance of kinship ties, and He forbids obscenities, evil, and injustice. This is an admonition so that you may reflect. Perform the duties and refrain from sins, ask God for forgiveness and trust in God, be righteous, and He will remove your worries and distress from you. A q imi s - S alâh ! (Call the I q âmah)

Allâh, der Erhabene, sagt in Sûratu l-´A hz âb, Âyah 56: ﴿إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِيِّۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا ٥٦﴾ O Allâh, gebe dem Propheten Mu h ammad und seinen Âl einen höheren Rang, so wie Du dem Propheten Ibrâhîm und seinen Âl einen hohen Rang gegeben hast. A q imi s - S alâh ! (Sag die I q âmah auf)
