The Berlin Left tolerates or exploits extremist actors with ties to the PFLP and Hamas during the election campaign, whose positions contradict the democratic consensus, and refuses a thorough self-cleansing.
While progressive values are promoted outwardly, currents and actors are tolerated or exploited during the election campaign whose unconstitutional and antisemitic positions stand in profound contradiction to any democratic consensus and to a left-wing self-understanding.
The text describes the pro-Palestinian activist Ibrahim Ibrahim, who, according to the author, maintains connections to the PFLP, which is listed as a terrorist organization by the EU and the US. Ibrahim is said to have referred to the deceased Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar as a 'fighting martyr hero.' He regularly appeared in the environment of the Berlin Left, also at an election party. After the Berlin election, he published a message of thanks and congratulations to the party on Facebook. A further statement in the name of the United Palestinian National Council in Berlin emphasized participation in the mobilization. The author accuses the party of tolerating or exploiting extremist actors while it promotes progressive values outwardly. The Hamas charter is cited as evidence of antisemitic positions. The text calls for a 'thorough self-cleansing' of the party.

Extremists in the Party Environment of the Berlin Left
Following the latest scandals in the election campaign, a previously barely noticed figure in the environment of the Berlin Left is coming into focus. The pro-Palestinian activist Ibrahim Ibrahim maintains connections to the terrorist PFLP and publicly celebrated the deceased Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. A reconstruction shows how extremist networks deliberately mobilize in the environment of the party.

Following the antisemitic outbursts at the party Die Linke in Berlin during the election campaign (as hpd reported) and scandals surrounding the participation of Berlin underworld figures at the party's election parties, there is a figure that has received too little attention so far: the pro-Palestinian activist and supporter of the PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine), Ibrahim Ibrahim.
The supporter of the PFLP, which is listed as a terrorist organization by the EU and the USA, was not only spotted at the Left's election party, but regularly appeared in the environment of the party. The Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution speaks of "foreign-related extremism" in connection with the PFLP. It is expressly mentioned that the PFLP welcomes the terror of Hamas. Ibrahim has been known as a supporter of the PFLP for years. Controversial is also a statement documented by the media regarding Yahya Sinwar, the then political and military leader of Hamas in Gaza: Ibrahim is said to have honored Sinwar after his death in October 2024 as a "fighting martyr hero."
Presumably, to avoid a distancing by the party – as was attempted with the Remmos – Ibrahim published a "message of thanks and congratulations" on Facebook after the election in Berlin, in which it is stated that one is proud to have "already made a clear decision last year to support Die Linke. We have worked to pass on our message to the Palestinian and Arab community as well as to our friends." For the support rendered, one now seems to want a return and also publicly shows that one will not be brushed off without one. The ghosts that Die Linke in Berlin has summoned will probably not be rid of so quickly.
In a further statement published on Facebook in the name of the United Palestinian National Council in Berlin, it says that "members and supporters of the United Palestinian National Council in Berlin were an active part of this achievement by participating in the mobilization and communication with voters." The statement repeatedly mentions the "progressive values" that one does not really find in the environment of Hamas. Let us recall: Hamas spreads the antisemitic conspiracy narrative of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" in its charter (Article 32) and calls for violence against Jews (Article 7). Contrary to claims to the contrary, these articles have never been revoked.
Time and again, we witness in the environment of the party Die Linke in Berlin a collusion between extremist actors from the sphere of secular Arab nationalism and the religiously fundamentalist nationalism of Hamas. It also repeatedly comes to questionable alliances and a lack of clear demarcation. The case of Ibrahim Ibrahim vividly illustrates a pattern: While progressive values are propagated outwardly, one tolerates or exploits in the election campaign currents and actors whose unconstitutional and antisemitic positions stand in profound contradiction to any democratic basic consensus and left-wing self-understanding. As long as the Berlin Left refuses a thorough self-cleansing here, it not only puts its own credibility at risk, but risks making extremist networks acceptable in the political space.

the hpd makes right-wing…
the hpd makes right-wing party politics – of course, the campaign against the Left is not yet big enough either
Have you ever thought about what could happen, or has already happened: in the end, only right-wingers meet at the hpd
