The surest protection from religious whispers lies in consciously seeking refuge in Allah through trust, prayer, and a merciful image of God that dissolves fears and strengthens the connection to God.
The surest way to protect oneself from whispers is to seek refuge in Allah. Allah, the Exalted, says in the Quran: "And if an evil suggestion from Satan tries to disturb you, then seek refuge in Allah. He is the Hearing, the Knowing."
The text deals with the Islamic concept of whispers (Weswese) as a distress triggered by the negative thoughts of Shaytan or one's own ego. It describes how uncontrolled fears, particularly in religious matters, can impair quality of life and prevent believers from worship. As a concrete example, excessive washing during wudu or full-body washing is cited, in which believers spend hours in the shower. The text recommends seeking refuge in Allah through trust, prayer, Quran recitation, and supplications as protection from whispers. A false image of Allah as a tyrannical being is named as another trigger; instead, Allah is portrayed as forgiving and merciful. The sermon addresses the congregation and encourages them to resolutely fight against whispers without giving Shaytan room.

We seek refuge with Allah from whispering
(03.01.2025)
Dear brothers and sisters! Honored believers!
Among the hardships that negatively affect our lives is whispering – in Arabic, waswasa. This refers to disturbing thoughts triggered by the negative whisperings of Shaytan or of one's own ego.
Such thoughts, which often tend toward imagination, suspicion, or excessive worry, can significantly impair our quality of life. One of the main reasons for this is our fears. Fear is one of the basic emotions; it warns humans of dangers and prompts them to take precautions. However, if we do not get our fears under control, they can severely affect our lives. In particular, worries in religious matters pave the way for whisperings, which leads to neglecting one's acts of worship or losing one's inner peace.
Shaytan, who resorts to many means and ways to lead people astray from the right path,[1] attempts to weaken the connection between Allah and His servants and to keep them away from prayer by making their fears appear greater.[2] As soon as we begin the ablution (wudu) to meet Allah, he whispers doubts into us that our ablution is incomplete, that we must perform it again. The same happens with the full-body washing. In this regard, our beloved Prophet, who is an example to us in everything,[3] is said to have used only about 5 liters of water for the full-body washing.[4] Although 5 liters and 5 minutes are sufficient to wash the entire body, some fall into the waswasa trap of Shaytan, so that they spend hours in the shower and unnecessarily waste a great deal of water. Such people unfortunately exhaust themselves both mentally and physically. And ultimately, their connection to Allah is weakened and they distance themselves from worship and from the religion.
Esteemed believers!
Those brothers and sisters who exhaust themselves over religious worries should know that the will of man is stronger than the will of Shaytan.[5] And the safest way to protect oneself from whisperings is to seek refuge with Allah. Allah, the Exalted, says in the Quran: "And if an evil whisper from Satan tries to turn you away, then seek refuge in Allah. He is the Hearing, the Knowing."[6] But how does one seek refuge with Allah? Seeking refuge means trusting Allah and living a life in accordance with His commands and prohibitions. Seeking refuge means showing patience, performing one's prayers,[7] reciting the Quran, and making supplications.[8] Whoever seeks refuge in this way will be protected from fears and whisperings.
My brothers and sisters!
Another trigger for whisperings is a false understanding of Allah. If, when He is mentioned, we imagine a tyrannical being that is only waiting to punish our mistakes, then we have not understood Him properly. When we must tell our children about Allah, we must pay special attention to our language. The Exalted Allah is the Forgiving. He is the source of love.[9] His grace and mercy encompass all that exists.[10] Allah is not the one who seeks out mistakes, but the one who covers and forgives mistakes – as long as one does not persist in them.[11]
Our acts of worship are directed solely to Allah,[12] and no one has the right to judge about them. As long as one resolutely fights against whisperings and gives Shaytan no room, Allah will – inshallah – deliver one from these difficulties.
O Allah! We seek refuge in Your perfect words from Your anger, the evil of Your creatures, and the whisperings of the devils.[13] Count us among Your servants who can resist all whisperings! (Ameen)

Wir suchen Zuflucht bei Allah vor Einflüsterung
(03.01.2025)
Liebe Geschwister!
