The study and practical emulation of the biography of the Prophet Muhammad is the necessary condition for individual salvation and social peace in a time of moral decline.

The teachings of our beloved Prophet ﷺ are light and mean peace; his biography contains lessons for life.

The text is an Islamic sermon (khutbah) that highlights the central importance of the biography and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad for the life of believers. It argues that following the Prophet is the only path to divine salvation, Paradise, and inner peace, especially in a time of social decay. The speaker refers to Quranic verses and hadiths to emphasize the human nature of the Prophet while simultaneously underpinning his spiritual authority. A warning is issued against ascribing supernatural attributes to the Prophet, such as the creation of light, which is considered apostasy from the faith. The sermon calls on the congregation to study, teach, and practice the way of life of the Prophet in order to find stability in modern crises. It links the veneration of the Prophet with the duty of God-fearingness and the utterance of blessings (salawat).

Praise be to Allâh, the Exalted. We praise Him, seek His support, guidance, and forgiveness. May Allâh protect us from committing sins. He whom God has guided will not go astray, and he whom God has led astray will not find guidance. I bear witness that there is no god but Allâh, the One, Who has no partner and to Whom nothing and no one is comparable. And I bear witness that our honored, beloved, and great Prophet Mu h ammad is the servant and messenger of God. He conveyed the message and admonished the community; may Allâh reward him more than all other prophets. O Allâh, grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his Âl a higher rank, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl a high rank. And grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his Âl blessings, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl blessings. You are the One Who is described with perfect power and mercy, and the One Who has the right to be praised. Then, O servants of God, I admonish you and myself to righteousness, and I call upon you to follow the path of the Prophet. Allâhu Ta^âlâ says in Sûrah at-Tawbah, verse 128: ﴿لَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ رَسُولٞ مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيۡهۡ مَآ عَنَتُّمۡ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَرَّءُوفٞ رَّحِيمٞ١٢٨﴾ The meaning is: There has come to you a messenger from among yourselves; it is painful to him that you fall into evil; he is zealous for you; he is kind and merciful to the believers. Wâthilah Ibn al-As q ^ said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: The meaning is: Allâh chose Kinânah from the descendants of Ismâ^îl, chose Q uraysch from Kinânah, chose from the descendants of Q uraysch the descendants of Hâschim, and chose me from the descendants of Hâschim. [Reported by Imâm Muslim] Our honored Prophet Mu h ammad ﷺ has the noblest lineage. He is the light of the world, and more than that: He is our role model in times of increasing darkness. He is the Great One, and everything about Him is great. The life of the believers is filled with love for Mu h ammad ﷺ, and this love unites us. He is our Imâm, our refuge, and our role model. If we escape the Hellfire on the Day of Resurrection – God willing, we will escape – and find salvation, it is only because we follow Mu h ammad ﷺ. If we enter Paradise – God willing, we will enter it – it is through our practice of his teachings. The teachings of our beloved Prophet ﷺ are light and mean peace; his biography contains lessons for life. Sing, my brother, and say it aloud. We follow none – except Mu h ammad. Show us in the register of great personalities someone like the Hashemite Prophet Mu h ammad. By God, no creature reaches the rank of Mu h ammad, and no creature will surpass his rank. And still, the teachings of the Prophet Mu h ammad ﷺ shine brightly and illuminate the path of those who seek the truth, and are a light for all who strive for knowledge, in order to come out of the darkness of ignorance in which many people have been lost. We witness the disintegration of families, the division of societies, the spread of evil, as well as the emergence of hostilities and disputes, sometimes even within the same family, because the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ are not properly practiced. Many young people long to be like this or that person and to follow in the footsteps of sinful individuals. We advise them to follow the teachings of the beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, for he is the one whom Allâh loves most, and his path is a path of peace and guidance toward a God-fearing life. Over the course of days and years, the fame of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has not diminished but has always increased. With time, deeds and names fade, yet our community has never forgotten the distinctiveness of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Many names disappear over time, but the name of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ shines ever brighter. In times of adversity and great obstacles, we turn to Allâh through our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Today, it is very important to call upon people to apply the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ! Brothers in Islam, hold fast to the teachings of your Prophet and teach his biography to your relatives, acquaintances, and friends, because obedience to our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is also obedience to Allâh, for Allâhu Ta^âlâ says in Sûrah an-Nisa´, verse 80: ﴿مَّـن يُّطِعِ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدۡ أَطَاعَ ٱللَّهَۖ﴾ The meaning is: Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allâh. Teach them that the one who diligently follows the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ belongs to those for whom Allâh has decreed much good, as is the case with the Prophets, the Siddî q ûn, and the righteous. Teach them that the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ provide security and guidance. They lead to being spared on the Day of Judgment, the day when wealth and children will be of no avail—except for the one whose heart contains no disbelief. Moreover, the teachings of the Prophet bring peace of mind in this world, even in the face of catastrophes, rising prices, evil, and great challenges. Brothers in Islam, whoever studies the biography of the Messenger of God ﷺ will find that his Companions transmitted to us not only his words but also his silence. They transmitted to us what he ate and drank, how he walked and sat, when he slept, when he woke, and when he fasted. They recorded for us precisely how he taught, whom he instructed, and at what times. Furthermore, they transmitted to us his appearance and his character traits. They reported to us about his humility, his compassion, his mercy, his reverence, and his generosity. They also transmitted to us his outstanding appearance, his magnificent description, his captivating beauty, and his radiant smile that revealed teeth more beautiful than sparkling pearls. They described his hair, his eyes, his eyebrows, his eyelashes, his nose, his mouth, his beard, his chest, and his limbs. Their description was so detailed that it was as if one were seeing him before one’s eyes ﷺ. If the description has kindled passion in us, how much more so did it affect the Companions who actually saw him—truly, seeing is not comparable to hearing. Whoever follows the biography of this great, noble, and perfect man will indeed recognize perfection and great honor. A poet aptly said (in essence): Whoever seeks honor should feel affiliated with Muhammad, for through his teachings, nations rise in rank, or for pleasant fragrance, to delight his senses, for musk fragrance emanates from his cheeks. His teachings are the right path and are firmly rooted in my heart, so that I may attain a high rank, and from this I will not turn away. O Allâh, help us through the Prophet to give the correct answer when we are questioned in the grave after our death. This is all, and I ask Allâh for forgiveness for you and for myself. The Second Sermon Praise be to Allâh, the Exalted above the attributes of creation. There is no god but Allâh. We worship Him alone with sincere devotion and we associate no partner with Him. Praise be to Allâh, the Creator of the universe. As-Salât and as-Salâm upon our honored Prophet Muḥammad and all other messengers and prophets. May the love of God be bestowed upon the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, as well as upon the Muslim relatives of the Prophet, the righteous caliphs Abû Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmân, and ʿAlī, the rightly guided scholars Abû Ḥanīfah, Mālik, ash-Shāfiʿī, and Aḥmad, and upon the saints (awliyāʾ). Then, servants of God, I call upon you and myself to righteousness and to the fear of Allâh, the Exalted and Almighty. Allāhu Taʿālā says in Sūrah al-Kahf, verse 110: ﴿قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ﴾ The meaning is: Say (that is, O Muḥammad, say), I am a human being, just as you are. Our honored Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ is the best of mankind; therefore, his body was not created from light, as is proven by the verse just recited. Another proof comes from his biography, for his tooth was broken and he was injured in the face and on the feet, so that blood flowed from his feet. Brothers in Islam, the one who believes that the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ was created from light does not belong to the Muslims, for his belief contradicts what Allâh has said in the Qurʾān. Whoever holds this invalid belief is obligated to return to Islam by pronouncing the declaration of faith. And know that Allâh has called you to something important. He has called you to recite as-Salât was-Salām upon the Prophet. Allâh, the Exalted, says in Sūrah al-Aḥzāb, verse 56: ﴿إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِيِّۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا٥٦﴾ O Allâh, grant the Prophet Muḥammad and his family a higher rank, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrāhīm and his family a high rank. And grant the Prophet Muḥammad and his family blessings, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrāhīm and his family blessings. You are the One who is described with perfect power and mercy, and the One who has the right to be praised. Allâh, the Exalted, says in the holy Qurʾān: ﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمۡۚ إِنَّ زَلۡزَلَةَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ شَيۡءٌ عَظِيم١ يَوۡمَ تَرَوۡنَهَا تَذۡهَلُ كُلُّ مُرۡضِعَةٍ عَمَّآ أَرۡضَعَتۡ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمۡلٍ حَمۡلَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلنَّاسَ سُكَٰرَىٰ وَمَا هُم بِسُكَٰرَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّ عَذَابَ ٱللَّهِ شَدِيد٢﴾ The meaning is: O mankind, be righteous. Indeed, the earthquake of the Hour is a tremendous thing. On that day, every nursing mother will forget what she is nursing, every pregnant woman will deliver her burden, and you will see the people in a state of intoxication, though they are not intoxicated, but rather the punishment of God is severe. O Allâh, we ask You to fulfill our supplication, to forgive our sins and errors, to include us among the rightly guided and not among those who have gone astray. O Allâh, we ask You to remove our worries and sorrows from us and to protect us from what we fear. Servants of God, Allâh calls to justice, good conduct, and the maintenance of kinship ties, and He forbids obscenities, evil, and injustice. This is an admonition so that you may reflect. Perform the duties and refrain from sins, ask God for forgiveness and put your trust in God, be righteous, and He will remove your worries and distress from you. Aqimi s-Salāh! (Call the Iqāmah!)

Allâhu Ta^âlâ sagt in der Sûrah al-Kahf, Âyah 110: ﴿قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ﴾ Die Bedeutung lautet: Sage ( also o Muhammad sage ), ich bin ein Mensch, so wie ihr es seid. Allâh, der Erhabene, sagt in der Sûrah al-´A hz âb , Âyah 56: ﴿إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِيِّۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا٥٦﴾ O Allâh, gebe dem Propheten Mu h ammad und seinen Âl einen höheren Rang, so wie Du dem Propheten Ibrâhîm und seinen Âl einen hohen Rang gegeben hast. A q imi s - S alâh ! (Sag die I q âmah auf)
