Youth is a one-time opportunity that must be secured as the foundation for a successful and God-pleasing future through the conscious following of the Prophets, the cultivation of virtues, and the avoidance of bad habits.
Do not take the influencers and phenomena of social media as your role models! If you want to follow someone and be like someone, then follow in the footsteps of the Prophets!
The text is addressed to young people and emphasizes that this life phase is a decisive time for the development of responsibility and awareness. It warns against wasting youth on bad habits such as smoking, alcohol, or gambling, as this can have long-term negative consequences. The sermon encourages young people to cultivate knowledge, wisdom, and good morals and to develop their abilities. A central point is the choice of friends, since a person follows the religion of their friend, as well as observing Halal and Haram in everyday life. Young people are called upon to use the mosque as a place of spiritual development and to orient themselves toward the virtues of the Prophets, such as diligence, patience, and justice. Instead of influencers and social media as role models, the Prophets are to serve as ideal role models. The text concludes with a supplication for mercy and a righteous path, in order to strengthen youth as a guarantee for the future.

Our Youth, Our Future
(18.04.2025)
Youth is the most fruitful period in a person's life. It is the age in which a person transitions from childhood into adulthood. During this time, the awareness of taking on responsibility gradually develops. Youth is a period in which both religious feelings and intense worldly desires are experienced. Youth is a time of opportunity to be under the protection of Allah on the Day of Judgment, when no one will receive special treatment. For Allah will grant this protection to those young people who have found peace in the servitude to Him.[1] For some, youth is a time that passes without its value being recognized - and unfortunately also the beginning of bad habits such as smoking, alcohol, drugs, or gambling, which may last a lifetime. May Allah protect us and all our young brothers and sisters from any bad habits!
Dear young brothers and sisters!
Today I would like to address you in particular: Youth is a beautiful opportunity that never returns - recognize the value of your youth! Educate yourselves in knowledge, wisdom, and good morals! Discover your abilities and develop yourselves accordingly! Adorn this precious stage of life with the servitude to Allah, with good deeds, and with activities that benefit yourselves and your surroundings! Our beloved Prophet (s) said: "A person follows the religion of his friend." I would like to remind you of a piece of advice from the Messenger of Allah: "Be careful about whom you befriend!"[2]
Dear young people!
Be sensitive when it comes to the Permissible (Halal) and the Prohibited (Haram); pay attention to what you eat and drink! Pay attention to how you earn your money and how you spend it! Have a sense and purpose in life! Have principles and clear boundaries! Have concrete goals and plans for your future! The mosques that have been entrusted to you should definitely find a place in your daily and weekly programs! Do not meet with your friends only for fun and entertainment! Come together from time to time to develop yourselves spiritually as well! Participate in the youth activities organized in the mosques! Never forget that Allah will not withhold His support from young people who sincerely believe in Him and trust in Him![3]
Dear young people! You are our guarantee for the future!
Do not take the influencers and phenomena of social media as your role models! If you want to follow someone and be like someone, then follow the footsteps of the Prophets! Take these exemplary personalities as your role models! Be diligent like Nuh (as) and follow the commands of Allah precisely! Be patient like Ayyub (as) and do not give up in the face of difficulties! Be followers of Tawhid (Monotheism) like Ibrahim (as) and never serve anyone other than Allah! Be devoted like Ismail (as)! Be courageous like Musa (as)! Be just like Sulayman (as)! If you have made a mistake, then give it up like Adam (as) and turn to your Lord like Yunus (as)! Preserve your chastity like Yusuf (as)! Never lose your hope like Yaqub (as)! Be compassionate like Isa (as) and trustworthy like Muhammed (s)!
I would like to conclude my sermon with the supplication of a group of young people who were forced to flee into a cave to live their faith: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from You and prepare for us a right (way) out in our affair!"[4] (Amin)

Unsere Jugend, unsere Zukunft
(18.04.2025)
Seid ergeben wie Ismail (as)! Seid mutig wie Musa (as)! Seid gerecht wie Sulayman (as)! Wenn ihr einen Fehler gemacht habt, dann gebt ihn auf wie Adam (as) und wendet euch eurem Herrn wie Yunus (as)! Bewahrt eure Keuschheit wie Yusuf (as)! Verliert niemals eure Hoffnung wie Yaqub (as)!
