True contentment and spiritual strength do not arise from the possession of material goods, but from the inner attitude of gratitude towards God, which awakens joy and determination even in poverty and want.
When the Companions, that is the Sahaba, however received a torn garment, they bowed their heads before Allah. Their tongues became moist from the remembrance of his goodness. They said, what a garment our God has given us.
The text addresses the gratitude of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) through various narrations in which he praised God even for the smallest gifts such as dry bread or vinegar. As a contrast, the behaviour of today's believers is described, who complain about lack and even in wealth demand more. The speaker refers to the teaching of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who presented the inner attitude of the Companions, who found contentment in poverty, as a model for the Ahmadiyya community. It is argued that true gratitude and the awareness of one's own spiritual mission give the strength to make do with little and to accomplish great works. The text is directed in particular at full-time missionaries and families, who should align their standards of contentment and their gratitude with the Prophet. Finally, further examples of the Prophet's grateful practice in drinking and eating are cited to underscore the health and spiritual benefits of this attitude.

I ensure that it is the Messenger of the All-Muhammad. He is above the Prayer, above the Prayer, above the Finished-Entry-Traveler, above the Travel-Entry-Traveler. I look to Allah. In the Khutbah before the Jalsa Salana, I mentioned the standards of gratitude of the Holy Prophet, his practice, and his statements. In this context, I will also speak about it today. By directing attention to gratitude towards Allah, as he did, even for the smallest things, showing gratitude. Thus, Hazrat Anas bin Malik reports that the Messenger of Allah said, Allah rejoices in the gratitude of His servant when the latter eats a bite and praises Him for it. Or drinks a sip and praises Him for it. Similarly, Hazrat Aisha reported that the Holy Prophet, Salah Ala Salam, one day entered the house and saw a piece of bread lying on the floor. He picked up the piece of bread, cleaned it, ate it, and said, O Aisha, show respect to dignified things; if this blessing of provision is taken away from a people, it does not return to them. This was, therefore, his approach. Moreover, he thanked Allah for every, however small, matter. He expressed his gratitude for His blessings and also admonished his family members to do so. Therefore, if we wish for blessings in our provision, it is necessary to be grateful for every gift of Allah. Hazrat Ibn Abbas reports that the Holy Prophet, on the day of the Conquest of Mecca, visited the house of his cousin, Umm Habiba, bint Abi al-As. At that time, he felt hungry and asked, do you have anything to eat that we can consume? She replied, I have nothing except some dried pieces of bread, and I am ashamed to offer them to you. He said, bring exactly those; she soaked them in water and crumbled them. She brought some salt, and the Holy Prophet asked, does that also make a side dish with salt? She answered, O Messenger of Allah, apart from some vinegar, there is nothing. He said, bring exactly that; he poured the vinegar over his food, ate from it, and praised Allah. Then he said, what an excellent side dish vinegar truly is, O Umm Habiba. A house in which there is vinegar is not poor. These were, therefore, his standards of gratitude. We live in these countries, benefit from countless blessings, and yet we do not fulfill the right of gratitude towards Allah. Instead, we sometimes complain about trifles. One complains to family members that they have not brought this or that. Thus, Musleh Mawood has sketched the image of those who are ungrateful and the image of the gratitude of the Companions in a very impressive manner. He says, if you ever wear a torn garment on your body, you begin to cry and say, what bad luck we have that we only have torn pieces of clothing to wear. However, when the Companions, that is, the Sahaba, received a torn garment, they bowed their heads before Allah. Their tongues became moist from remembering His goodness. They said, what a garment our God has given us. When they received a piece of dry bread after four days, their eyes shone with joy, and they said, Alhamdulillah, God has blessed us with His gift. That is the reason, the benefit that dry pieces of bread brought them. Here he addresses the members of the Jamaat and says, the benefit that dry pieces of bread brought, that is not brought to you by Pelao, that is, neither rice nor side dishes. Whoever receives rice today is indeed satisfied, but at the same time, he longs for sweet rice to accompany this Pelao. And whoever has Pelao, that is, rice and sweet rice, available to them, also sheds tears of blood and says that there should also be milk pudding. Whoever receives lentils to eat cries for meat. Whoever receives meat longs for rice. Or whoever receives four loaves of bread to eat, in this way, he has explained it very extensively. He
he continues, but what was the state of these Companions? Even if they received only a dry piece of bread there, the Companions said, we were not even worthy of this piece. It is the grace of God that He has granted us this piece. The result was that this dry piece of bread became part of their body. He generated great courage in them. High determination was awakened. It further increased their sense of gratitude. On the day of the Eubogen of Mecca, the day on which the rule of the Arabs ended, the Holy Prophet entered Mecca with ten thousand Saints. He appeared before the great leaders of Mecca, whose entire lives had been spent in enmity towards Islam, with their heads bowed before him. He announced to them, go, I say nothing to you, you are all free. After this announcement, he went to the house, where he then said, um mehanni. Here the term Aunt is used. In the original, it was apparently a typo or a slip of the tongue. Um mehanni was, as already mentioned, the paternal cousin of the Holy Prophet, Zola Salaam. He went to her house on that day and asked her, is there anything to eat? She answered, there is nothing to eat. This was also just presented. If I had it now, I would offer it of my own accord, except for a dry bread that has been lying here for several days. He said, good, bring exactly that. When she brought the bread, he said, this bread is a very good bread. You are without reason sad that there is nothing to eat in this house. Then she brought water. The Holy Prophet soaked the bread in water and then asked, is there also a Salen, a side dish? He said, where should a side dish come from? I did not even have bread at first and would definitely have brought it. I only had a little vinegar. The Holy Prophet said, what a wonderful side dish. She brought the vinegar, he soaked the bread in it and began to eat it. So he must say, the Holy Prophet also considered the vinegar as a gift of God and thanked for His grace by eating dry bread with it. In fact, digestion is promoted by the cheerfulness of the person that arises in the heart. If even something ordinary is eaten with joy, it generates a lot of strength. If, on the other hand, even the best food is distorted in sorrow, it does not unfold any strength in the person. He says that people think that they should receive more things and have received too little. The Companions, however, thought that they should have received less of everything, but have received more. Their way of gratitude was such that they, even if they received only a little, said that it was also a lot. For this reason, a single bread brought them such benefit as ten breads would not even bring you. Then he said, these sons, because some of you have not yet tasted the sweetness of faith. Your hearts are completely unaware of the fact of God, who has created you for a great spiritual work. In comparison to the one whom God creates for a spiritual revolution and change, even the greatest king of the world is insignificant. Yet instead of understanding your status and developing a proper awareness of your duties, you turn to extremely low, contemptible and tiny things and complain. I have not received this, I have not received that. As long as this awareness does not awaken in you, for what purpose God has created you and as long as you do not recognize your own rank, what kind of work will you then be able to perform. God has placed you in a position where your heart should always be filled with waves of joy and where one should always recognize vigilance and attention in you. If these events arise in your life within you, such a strength will immediately awaken in you that even the slightest
The amount of food will enable you to work. This is therefore a recipe that every Ahmadi, including those with limited means, but especially the ascetics, that is, those who have dedicated their lives to asceticism, should apply. It is very necessary to raise their standards of gratitude. Similarly, there is a need to awaken, as strongly as possible, the awareness in one’s own wives and children, for the purpose for which the ascetics have dedicated themselves is a very noble purpose. To achieve such a noble goal, one needs the examples of those who have accomplished great goals. They must stand before one’s eyes, and one should strive to follow them. Only then can this goal be achieved. The fact that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, was a companion in connection with his service and his gratitude through prayers, is presented in a narration from Abu Qadada. He reported that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, addressed and instructed her. You will work all day and travel all night, and tomorrow you will reach the stable for water. They were on a journey. The people marched so purposefully that no one paid attention to the other. Abu Qadada says that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, continued traveling until half the night had passed, and I was at his side. He continues reporting that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, became drowsy and leaned to one side on his mount. I went to him and supported him, without waking him, until he had straightened himself up and was sitting on his mount. Then he rode on until most of the night had passed. Due to drowsiness, he leaned again on his mount. He says, again I supported him, without waking him, until he was sitting upright on his mount. Thus we rode on until the last part of the night before the dawn broke. Then he leaned more strongly than the first two times, so much that he almost fell off. I approached him and supported him. Then he raised his head and asked, who is there? I answered, it is Abu Qadada. He asked, how long have you been walking at my side? I replied, I have been accompanying you since the onset of night. He said, may Allah protect you, just as you have protected the Prophet of Allah. He expressed his utmost gratitude. What a standard of gratitude has he left us as an example? A narration from Ummama states that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, said: My Lord, the Exalted, offered to transform the valley of Mecca into gold for me. Thereupon I replied, O my Lord, no. Rather, I wish to be hungry one day and full another day, and to eat well. So that when I am full, I praise You and give thanks to You, and when I am hungry, I humbly seek refuge at Your threshold and pray to You. Abdullah ibn Masud narrates, saying, when the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, drank water, it was such that he did not drink the whole glass in one breath, but drank the water in three breaths, and with each breath he praised Allah. After the last breath, he gave thanks again, saying that if one takes even a single sip of water, one should give thanks and praise for it. This is the way to drink water, with gratitude. This is also important for health. One should not drink everything at once, but drink slowly with pauses. In Bukhari, there is a long narration from Abu Hurayra, narrated. This is a concern. By Allah, there is no companion of the Prophet, peace be upon him, who, one day, pressed his stomach against the ground to give it support due to hunger. I often pressed my stomach against the ground to give it support, and sometimes I tied a stone to my stomach due to hunger. This did not happen only on one day, but very often. One day I was sitting on the road, I was feeling very ill, and people were passing by, there Abu Bakr passed by. I asked him for a horse from the book
Alas, the Holy Quran, regarding the care for the poor, regarding those who do not beg, and regarding those who are hungry. He explained the meaning to me and then left. After that, he always passed by me. With him, I did the same; he explained the meaning to me and left from there. After that, the Holy Pruzzas passed by me. When he saw me, he smiled; he immediately understood the state of my face. He said, Abu Abahir, I am present, oh messenger of Alas, come with me. He said, he went home and I followed him. He entered and also granted me the opportunity to enter. There lay a bowl of water. He asked, where does this come from, who has gifted this? He said, Abu Abahir, I said again, I am present. He said, go to the Ahl al-Suffa and bring them to me. These were the persons who mostly only went hungry all day long. The persons sometimes gave him food; he let himself be called to him. He said, I did not find it good that they were called. He said, what is to suffice with so little milk? I would have more right to drink some of it, so that I would get some strength. He told me, the Glorious Prophet, that I should distribute milk to them. Then nothing remains for me, because I must give it to them. There is no possibility except to obey them. I went to them, called them, they also came and sat down in their places. He said, but Lord, but Rehra, I said, I am present, the Prophet alas. He said, here take and give it to him, that is, the milk. He took the bowl, gave it to one person. He drank, then gave it to the next person, until he had drunk his fill. Then it continued like that, the second, the third, he sat to come to the Holy Brüten. All the persons who sat had drunk their fill. He took the bowl and placed it on his hand. Then he looked at me and smiled. He said, but Rehra, I answered, I am present, the Prophet alas. He said, now only we two remain. He said, they have said exactly right, the Prophet alas. He said, sit down and drink. He said, drink on further. He said, keep drinking on. I kept drinking on, until I said, I swear by Allah, who sent him with the truth. I no longer have the possibility to drink more. I am completely full. The Holy Brüten took the bowl, I gave it to him. He thanked Allah first. He had also been hungry. He first thanked in Allah and in praise and drank the remaining milk. That was the measure of his gratitude. On occasions, Allah Dalla also blessed him exceedingly. That everyone drank from it, also the Sahaba and he himself, that he provides the ice pitcher. The Holy Brütz is at the sack of, to the one to whom kindness, who spends himself in the guests, who spends himself in the guests. He has done kindness to the one, he must give a repayment. He has no strength for it. He should mention this kindness before others; the one who does this shows his gratitude. And the one who artificially produces it, although he does not even bother with this praise, that is then like a person who is depicted as a liar from head to toe. That means that the uncle of the Holy Prophet from the Manavinsorum has permission to present himself to the Prophet. The Holy Brütz said, oh my uncle, enter. He entered. The Holy Brütz prepared a cloth for him, to sit down. He said, sit here. The uncle, Mütter Liserata de Mamu, equal to the father. If a favor is done and he does not thank for it, he should at least mention his favor. Because if he mentions it, it is as if he had thanked him. There are numerous incidents that illustrate how this aspect of gratitude is reflected in the life and character-sailings-pfitness. At every point in time he did this. For example, he had Tratija, his wife. She at every step the Holy
He supported the Prophets together and treated him kindly. She was one of the wealthy women of Mecca when she married the Holy Prophet. She placed her entire wealth, property, and riches at the feet of the Holy Prophet so that he could use them as he pleased. After the Prophet’s proclamation, she stood by him in all difficulties and hardships, with complete sincerity and loyalty, shoulder to shoulder, until she passed away in the tenth year of the Prophethood. And Holy Fredt cherished the blessings of this faithful wife until his last breath. He always mentioned her virtues. So much so that the other wives of the Holy Prophet were permitted to elevate her to such a high status that all the other wives were angry with her. When Aisha mentioned that Holy Fredt always spoke highly of her, she praised her in a humble tone. One day, anger arose in me when I said to him, why do you constantly speak of this old woman, although Allah has granted you better women than her. Thereupon, the Holy Prophet said to Sölm, Allah has not given me a better wife than she, for Khadija accepted me at a time when all others rejected me. And when people rejected me, she affirmed me; when people withdrew their support, she supported me with her property. And Allah has blessed me with descendants from her, while He has not granted me children from other women. Throughout his life, he expressed gratitude for her services and her steadfast support. He did the same with friends who had always supported him. Once there was a dispute among the Umberen, when Abu Bakr, when the Holy Prophet, the Holy Prophet of Erfohr, spoke to him about the great blessings of Abu Bakr. And he, the Holy Prophet, said, Abu Bakr, so when both individuals were before the Holy Prophet with their concerns and both were assured, he also said to Abu Bakr that I should have been more careful before us, being the Holy Prophet, he did not pay attention to all words, but pointed out why he had discussed with Abu Bakr. Then he said, may Allah conceal Abu Bakr’s mistakes. And thereupon, one felt deep remorse and visited the house of Abu Bakr. When they were seated together, the Holy Prophet spoke, O people, Allah has sent me to you, yet you say, you are a liar, whereas Abu Bakr said, he speaks the truth. And he has provided the most loyal support with his life and his wealth; will you now leave my companion and my will in peace or not. The Holy Prophet repeated this twice. Thereupon, no harm was ever done to Abu Bakr again. And great consideration was always given to him. What is the truth of Abu Said? I do not know what Abu Said Rudri narrated. He said, the Holy Prophet spoke to the people, he said, Allah has given people the opportunity to choose either this world or that gift which is with Allah. But the servant has taken that gift which is with Allah. Abu Said says, upon hearing this, he began to weep. And we were astonished at why he wept. The Holy Prophet spoke about such a person to whom even this opportunity was given. Abu Bakr began to weep thereupon. In truth, this referred to the Holy Prophet himself, to whom Allah had granted the opportunity. Abu Bakr says, the narrator says that of all the companions, Abu Bakr was the one who understood this best. Therefore, he began to weep. The Holy Prophet said, the most generous among you in terms of spending wealth and providing support was Abu Bakr. And if I had made anyone but my Lord a beloved friend, it would have been, so Abu Bakr, the reason why he wept here was that
he immediately realized that Allah would now call the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, to Himself. When Muslims in Mecca, with regard to the events of Allah, as the Muslims had to endure great hardships in Mecca, they traveled to Abyssinia. At that time, the King of Abyssinia granted them refuge in his land. The Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, said that this noble king, the King Najashi, was never forgotten and was always mentioned at every occasion, until once Najashi’s son visited the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him. Ali Kharifri, peace be upon him, stood up for his mention. The Companions said to the Prophet of Allah, “We are sufficient that we stand up for his honor.” Ali Kharifri, peace be upon him, said, “You have greatly respected and honored our friends, and I am able to make up for this kindness of yours as a forgotten matter and rectify it again.” In these emotions, he also led the Janaza prayer for the King Najashi, which Abu Reirah narrated, that when the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, learned of the death of Najashi, he did not allow his prayer to be performed in his absence. The Companions also performed the prayer, and he said the Takbir four times. Regarding the action of the Ansar, as the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, showed gratitude here, it is stated in a narration that when the Holy Prophet, in the 13th year after Prophethood, i.e., before the Hijra, 70 persons from Medina came to pledge allegiance and they promised that when they return to Medina, they would

Er sagte, was soll so wenig Milch ausreichen?
