True religiosity does not consist in the outward perfection of ritual actions, but in sincere, selfless care for the weaker and the rejection of hypocrisy and self-display.
No meter of headscarf will save you if you were a thoroughly evil person. No centimeter of beard will help you if you have brought not love and joy, respect and tolerance, but harm to creation and your fellow human beings, and if you have spoken ill of others.
The text analyzes Sura Maun and interprets it as a call to a socially engaged way of life in which help for orphans and the poor is central. It argues that religious practices such as prayer are worthless without social justice and sincerity (Ikhlas) and can even be considered hypocrisy. The preacher warns against seemingly pious religious behavior that is displayed on social media while injustice occurs in private. It is demanded that prayer be connected with inner presence and understanding of the words, rather than being recited merely mechanically. The text establishes a connection between individual spirituality and state responsibility for social security. It criticizes the separation of outward religious image and inner character. The central message is that true religiosity consists in love for fellow human beings and turning away from vanity.

To better understand the question, we must examine the Sura Maun, which consists of 7 verses, in detail:
Have you seen the one who declares the creed of faith to be a lie?
That is the one who drives away the orphan
and does not encourage the feeding of the poor
So woe to those who maintain contact,
who are heedless in their contact prayer
who put on a show
and prevent the system of help
These verses define who the deniers of faith actually are: the one who casts out orphans and the one who does not urge the feeding of the poor. This essentially means that the Quran wants us to strive for a social way of life. In other words, we should help poor, needy, powerless, defenseless, incapacitated, refugee, etc. people and also recommend this assistance to our fellow human beings and encourage them to do so. Moreover, these deniers also prevent any assistance, as it says in the last verse. In addition to the fact that the person neither provides help nor recommends assistance, they additionally prevent the assistance for the needy people. The word "system of help" (ماعون – mâ'Auun) encompasses words such as charity, common good, and also donation.
So woe to those who maintain contact,
who are heedless in their contact prayer
Here we can clearly conclude that prayers bring you nothing if a person does not lead a social way of life. Even those who pray can be cursed, and this despite their apparently flawless prayers. This means that despite our prayers we can become deniers of faith. Moreover, those who unknowingly perform their prayers are described. No one can be completely heedless in their prayers. Every person should understand what is said during prayer and not simply recite it without understanding; without understanding also means without feeling, without the heart being present.
The Sura goes on and reveals that these people only use their prayers for self-display. Here the Quran essentially announces another type of human being, which can be added to the traditional types. One who, namely, possesses two faces. The one who prays but does not help. The one who prays but deceives. The one who puts on a show.
who put on a show
Deceivers (Murâi) – deceives others and possibly even themselves.
A Murâi deceives people for his own advantages. With good people he is good, with simple people he is bad. This type is one of the worst types, because he constantly adapts his character to the circumstances, even at the price of self-denial. He is someone who uses his prayers to give a good image to other people and to profit from it. A Murâi constantly changes his character according to his personal interests.
We can conclude from this: A person can look very religious and also perform their prayers perfectly and still be a denier of faith. One who makes a perfect expression of religion, yet hurts, disadvantages, humiliates others, and thinks that he is a know-it-all and better than the others.
Faith is not shown by the exterior. No meter of headscarf will save you if you were a thoroughly bad person. No centimeter of beard will help you if you have brought not love and joy, respect and tolerance but harm to creation and your fellow human beings and have spoken ill of others. A prayer demonstrated only outwardly has no value with Allah.
The hypocritical religiosity has increased in recent times. Alongside the obligatory selfie at the Kaaba, it includes posting kitschy Islamic poems and prayers. Showing off how well one performs the ibada. Posting religious and patriotic quotes on social media, but humiliating one's own wife at home does not fit together at all, my dear brother and sister. The same type of person then also gives well-meaning advice of the kind "You should not spend time with that brother, because he has a bad reputation as a Muslim. Or you should not follow this Imam." Behind the "good will" expressed in this way, there is sometimes nothing but pure hatred. As Muslims, we are called upon to first think good, and always only good, of our fellow human beings. For whoever does not love Allah's creations, does not love Allah either.
Honesty in dealing with God and people is the command of the Quran:
"And nothing else was commanded of them, except to serve God and (thereby) to be sincere to Him in religion."
We call this Ikhlas.
Ikhlas means to bring something into purity, righteousness, sincerity, to purify the heart. To strive for something without expecting or seeking advantage and gain, without pretense and hypocrisy, with inner love and devotion. To guard ourselves in our deeds and prayers against showing off, in our devotions and in our submission to Allah to keep ourselves away from hypocrisy and things that corrupt the heart. Ikhlas is a movement of the heart, and a spiritual-soulful action.
The Sura Maun presents, in a sense, a social state, a state that in its actions strives for social security and social justice. A state is responsible for its people, the people responsible for the communities, and the communities are responsible for their citizens. A social state therefore consists of social fellow citizens, who lead a social life. The implementation of the Sura Maun would resolve the world's crises such as poverty, famine, homelessness and numerous other social problems and make them a thing of the past. The solution of these problems also supports the social security of people. The verses of the Sura Maun clarify this view.
Full text in the original
und nicht die Speisung des Armen fördert
So wehe den Kontakthaltenden,
die bei ihrem Kontaktgebet geistesabwesend sind
die sich zur Schau stellen
So wehe den Kontakthaltenden,
