Swami Sivananda embodies through his life path the unity of worldly success, health prevention, and intense God-realization, which serves as a timeless model for the practice of yoga.

Whoever opens themselves to his blessing feels his grace-power. This grace-power can be a guide on the path, can help one to do good in the world, but above all it brings one into contact with God.

The text honors Swami Sivananda as a figure who embodied various aspects of the yogic life, from his medical career to his intense spiritual practice. It is emphasized that Sivananda renounced his material possessions in order to devote himself to the search for God and service to others. The speaker connects this historical biography with current challenges by highlighting courage, determination, and the integration of yoga into everyday life as timeless virtues. It is pointed out that Sivananda's approach of combining yoga with health and natural medicine is gaining significance in conventional medicine today. The main message is that Sivananda, through his 'grace-power,' is still effective today and can lead people to a deeper contact with God. The text encourages the listeners to follow Sivananda's example and to carry yoga into the world. A bridge is built between the historical person and present-day spiritual practice. The text serves as inspiration for an engaged and God-centered life.

Om Namob Haggavate, Sivananda. The inspiring force behind Yoga-Vityas, Samishivananda. Samishivananda lived from 1887 to 1963 on this physical world. But he did not die with his physical death; rather, he continues to act today. Perhaps even more intensely, and his blessing and grace are still more important today. Samishivananda personally embodied much of what spiritual yoga consists of today. On the one hand, he was a successful doctor. He rose to become a doctor in the English colony, emigrated, in order to direct a hospital in Malaysia. He certainly had a certain assertiveness, also a certain inner strength and power to assert himself there. Today’s aspirants, we want to do good. Sometimes we also need a bit of courage, we also sometimes need a certain decisiveness, determination, etc. Samishivananda also wrote the beautiful book, Power of Thought and Positive Thinking, or also the book Success in Life and Self-Realization. Samishivananda embodied this particularly in the first part of his life. He also founded a magazine in India, which was quite successful for some years. It was called Ambrosia. It was a magazine with medical advice, both from conventional medicine, hygiene, etc., as well as from Ayurveda, so also from Hatha Yoga, and also Western natural science flowed into it. And this is also something for which yoga stands today, namely also for health and also the connection of yoga with natural science and with others, and ultimately also with findings from conventional medicine, what one can do to live healthily. And even more than that, in the time of Samishivananda, today conventional medicine also believes that the yogic lifestyle is the healthiest of all, and that these things, conventional medicine, yoga, regarding health, are not so different at all. Samishivananda also made many efforts to bring them together. Today, when it comes to prevention, so-called primary prevention, that is primary prevention of a healthy lifestyle, it is very close. The second thing that Samishivananda also embodied was to live yoga in everyday life. Even as a successful doctor, he meditated every day, he practiced asanas and pranayama every day, he also led satsangs and guided other people, established a practice, particularly in Malaysia. Thus, he showed that one can combine both. But then he also showed that the most important thing is to realize God. In his case, he then, and since 1923, gave up his medical career, left Malaysia, and he also distributed most of his money. Another part he later used as the foundation for a charitable dispensary, a non-profit medical station, as one might call it. So in any case, he gave away all his money, then wandered for a while in India in search of a guru, and in Rishikesh he found his Satguru, a Samishivananda, from whom he then let himself be initiated. The next thing he then embodied was intense spiritual practice. Presumably, we cannot practice as intensely as he did, not everyone can do the same, but he meditated hours upon hours for several years, hours upon hours, did pranayama, also asanas, and he also studied many scriptures. So everything that exists, he did there and hardly slept anymore, but he still found one, two hours a day for selfless service. Then came his final phase, which also lasted relatively long, perhaps even the longest, 1934 to 1963, so almost 30 years of his life, and it was intense engagement to spread yoga throughout the world. And he also urged his students, spread yoga throughout the world. In small and large, so many of his students, the those who had visited the Ashram, having been sent on their way, then said, when you get home, then teach yoga. One begins with the guiding sentence, then sing kirtans, depending on what he had seen in the people. Guiding meditation course, founding Divine Life Society Center, and so on. So he encouraged people somewhere to pass on yoga themselves. The tradition, we naturally also agree with all these traditions that Swami Sivananda had started there. And in particular, Swami Sivananda guided people from within. Whoever opens up to his blessing feels his spiritual power. This spiritual power can be a guide on the path, can help one to do good in the world, but above all it brings one into contact with God.

Leitend Meditationskurs, Gründen Divine Life Society Center, und so weiter.
