The mosque is a central place of education that, in Islam, aims to eliminate ignorance and to foster open-minded, responsible individuals, and the DITIB fulfills this task through structured children's and youth education as well as digital communication with parents.

The goal of Islam is to raise individuals who are open to learning, who continue to develop, and who act in accordance with their knowledge.

The text is a DITIB Friday sermon that highlights education and learning as central values of Islam. It begins with the thesis that human beings learn from birth and refers to the first verses of the last revelation, in which reading and writing are mentioned. The mosque is presented as an important place of learning, particularly on weekends in Germany. The DITIB describes its educational offerings for children and young people, including Quran recitation, Tafsir, ethics, prophetic history, and culture. A digital innovation, the e-DITIB parent information system, is introduced, which is intended to inform parents via an app about their children's classes. The text concludes with a call to participate in the municipal and integration council elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on 14 September 2025. The sermon connects religious education with social responsibility and democratic participation.

I love the mosque, I am learning my religion (12.09.2025) Brothers and sisters! Dear believers! A human being learns from the moment he is born. His first school is his home and his first teachers are his parents. Over time, both his teachers and the learning content multiply. He walks through nature and every corner teaches him something different; he feels the fertility of the soil, the significance of water, the power of the wind. He gets to know animals and plants and discovers nature. He goes to school, learns to read and write, to add and subtract. At the same time, he acquires the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in life. When it comes to "education," our mosques come to mind as one of the most important places of learning. In Germany, our mosques transform into a center of education, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. In the first verses of the last divine revelation that Allah, the Almighty, has sent down, reading, learning, and writing with the pen are mentioned¹. This fact is no coincidence. It makes clear how highly knowledge is valued in Islam. Islam has been, from the very beginning, a religion that is founded on knowledge, education, and learning. The goal of Islam is to raise individuals who are open to learning, who continue to develop, and who act according to their knowledge. The goal of Islam is to eliminate ignorance. The goal of Islam is to educate sensitive societies that can distinguish between right and wrong. The goal of Islam is to lead the human spirit and mind from darkness into light² and to make the path to Paradise easier³. Brothers and sisters! As the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DITIB), we attach great importance to the education of our children. We offer our students an education appropriate to their level, with textbooks that have been created by knowledgeable educators, pedagogues, and theologians for the various age groups. In addition to learning areas such as Elif-Ba, Quran recitation, Tashwid, and memorizing surahs, we also offer instruction in morality, faith, practices of faith, the history of the prophets, culture, and science. As DITIB, we are striving to further improve the quality of our education, while at the same time not neglecting the technologies that the age requires. One of our innovations is the e-DITIB parent information system, which we have developed with great effort and endeavor. Parents will be able, with a mobile phone app, to track the attendance of their children in class, to find out in which subjects they are being taught, and to see which surahs and supplications they have memorized. We would like to take this opportunity to invite children between 4 and 6 years of age to the children's mosque and children between 7 and 15 years of age to the basic courses for Quran recitation and religious knowledge. Dear congregation! Mosques, with their youth, are our future, with their seniors, our blessing, and with their joyful children's voices, our Paradise. The innocent smile of our children gives this garden life. The forbearance and tolerance that we show toward them are, in fact, a sign of our love for our Lord. May Allah keep our children and us on the path of knowledge and wisdom. May our Friday be blessed. The DITIB Preaching Commission Dear congregation! I would like to remind you that participation in the local elections and the integration council elections, which will take place on Sunday, September 14, in North Rhine-Westphalia, is a democratic right and a responsibility. In this context, I call on all our brothers and sisters who are eligible to vote to make use of this right, and I wish that the upcoming elections may bring forth good.
