Dangers Threatening Our Youth
(26.06.2026)
Dear Brothers and Sisters! Esteemed Believers!
Allah has bestowed a high value upon humanity and called upon them to preserve their physical, mental, and spiritual health. In this context, He has prohibited drugs, alcohol, gambling, and other addictive substances that harm our society and our future, destroy humans, and devalue them. Allah says: “O you who believe! Intoxicants, gambling, [sacrifices on] stone altars [at idols], and divining arrows are but an abomination of Satan’s handiwork. So avoid it in order that you may [be] successful.”¹ Thus, He reminds us to keep our distance from anything that may cause us material and spiritual harm.
Honored Muslims!
Drugs and addictive substances are a tremendous scourge. They rob humans of their reason, willpower, and health. They separate them from their family, education, and society. This disastrous path, which often begins with the temptations of Satan and the traps of a false circle of friends, darkens the future of many young people, plunges families into deep pain, and destroys social peace.
In particular, young people tend to fall into such dark paths when they feel lonely, misunderstood, or left alone. Therefore, let us, as parents, have an open ear for our children and take intense care of them. Should our children – may Allah protect them from this – already be affected or in danger, we must never turn our backs on them, but rather support them by all means.
Brothers and Sisters!
As believers, we have the duty to take all necessary precautions against dangers and to trust in Allah. Therefore, let us – as Allah teaches us in the Surah an-Nas² – seek protection from our Creator against all visible and invisible evils that attempt to turn us away from the right path. Let us recite the following noble supplication of our Prophet (s): “I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and from what I fear.”³
My Brothers and Sisters!
Addictive behavior is often a serious illness that requires professional treatment and support. In such cases, one should visit specialists, psychologists, as well as counseling and rehabilitation centers without delay.
To conclude my sermon, I would like to speak particularly to my young brothers and sisters: You are the hope of this Ummah, the future of our society. Do not sacrifice your health, your reason, and your future for transient desires! Carefully protect your body and soul entrusted to you by Allah! Shape your life with knowledge, wisdom, worship (Ibade), sports, and useful activities! Do not forget: True freedom does not mean falling into bad habits, but rather mastering one’s own ego.
May Allah protect us and our children from all evil and not lead our descendants away from the honorable path of Islam. Amen.

Gefahren, die unsere Jugendlichen bedrohen
(26.06.2026)
Liebe Geschwister!
Amin.
