Diseases are healed by treating their causes – particularly through diet, sleep, exercise, and excretion – while pure symptom management with medication generates new problems and the classical Arab-Islamic medical tradition already knew this principle.
The speaker, a general practitioner with additional training in Chinese, Arabic, and Ayurvedic medicine, advocates for cause-oriented rather than symptomatic treatment of diseases. He refers to the Arab-Islamic medical tradition (Ibn Sina, al-Zahrawi, Ibn Nafis) and its principle of first regulating diet, sleep, psyche, exercise, and excretion before medication is used. As an example, he states that high blood sugar or blood pressure can often be treated through dietary change and that pure symptom management causes side effects. He criticizes that Muslim doctors no longer know the therapeutic methods of the classical Arab scholars, even though their names are frequently mentioned. The text combines medical advice with religious elements such as Dua, the Adhan, and references to Ramadan nights. The message is directed at the attending Muslim community and encourages them to take personal responsibility for their health through lifestyle change.

My name is Adam. I studied medicine, I am a physician, a general practitioner. I studied Chinese medicine in China, Arab medicine in India, Ayurveda, and osteopathy, and I also worked in hospitals. I have a practice in Frankfurt and also a physiotherapy practice here in Offenbach, and I try to treat patients holistically. Therefore, as an introduction: yes, if you only have one method with which you treat, you are limited. You are limited in what you do. If you can only do one thing, then you can only do that. If you can only perform one bicycle kick in football, you are quickly seen through. You always do the same trick. People quickly take the ball away from you. You do not have options. But if you have other tricks up your sleeve, then you can do other things. That means you can perform better, and it is the same in medicine, because it may be that there are solutions for diseases in other peoples that we do not know here today. There are diseases where people say they are incurable, but in other countries they are treated and it works. And I have seen this with my own eyes and was able to bring it here, alhamdulillah, and I try to implement it. And the main task is to find out what the cause is, and what the cause of a disease is, that is always the biggest problem. And in Arabic there is a beautiful saying, and it says: you should take the cause and also treat it. You should not treat symptomatically, but you should treat the cause. And we say, we make dua, but we must also tie up the camel. Yes, we must tie up the camel and then make dua. That means, you should do something, you should learn, and the more options you have, the better you can treat. If you only have a hammer for treating, then every problem looks like a nail to you. You can only hit it. If it is a screw, you hit it. If it is something else, you hit it. But if you have several tools, you can work better. And this presupposes that you reconsider what you have learned and look to see if there is perhaps another method to implement something. I switch briefly back to Arabic. It should be based on its principles. In our Arabic language, we have the value of "taking the causes into account." We take the causes into account. This is even the term; if you translate it into German, it sounds strange, saying "to take the causes into account," but for us it is well known. It is the foundation. We take the causes into account. We treat the causes, not the symptoms. For example, if you develop...
Blood sugar is high. If you treat the symptoms, you lower the blood sugar. If your blood pressure is high and you treat the symptoms, you lower the blood pressure. If you have pain, you take a painkiller. All of this is called treating the symptoms. But we treat the causes. Why did the blood pressure rise? Why did the blood sugar rise? Why is there pain? What is the cause? And if the cause is known, the wonder ceases. If we know the cause, we address it from its root. We treat from the root of the disease. It does not mean that we remain with the symptoms, get lost, and come up with drugs that have side effects and cause other problems, and then take a second drug, a third drug, a fourth drug. But the original, primary cause is, for example, your food. If you change your diet, the blood sugar may go away, the blood pressure may come down, the pain may be treated. Then there is no need for drugs. If you complete or master treatment through diet, treatment through diet. And there is treatment through medication, but it is always preferable, or forbidden, to take medication if the disease can be treated through diet. The first degree of treatment is through diet, and then we may include medicinal herbs. But we do not start with medication if we have not completed treatment through diet. This is the concept that we are discussing regarding the medicine of Ibn Sina, Al-Zahrawi, and Ibn Rushd, and I mean all the ancient scholars who existed; they used to treat and say the same thing. But this has been forgotten now. You go to the doctor, you have high blood pressure, you have high blood sugar, you take medication and go home. Sometimes they tell you, for example, to change your diet or reduce sugar and things like that. But you do not have a specific program to follow.
If one wants to become healthy, one must treat the cause. Otherwise, there are side effects. If you do not treat the cause and only perform symptom treatment, it may happen that you become ill through the medications you receive. That is, you go because you have high blood sugar. If you do not treat the cause and only lower the blood sugar, you get side effects from the medications that lower your blood sugar. If blood pressure is high and you receive a blood pressure medication and you only take this blood pressure medication, it may happen that this blood pressure medication lowers the blood pressure. But on the other hand, you have not treated the cause, so you trigger something else. Then you have another problem. If you have pain and you simply take Ibuprofen or Novamin, then the pain is indeed gone, but the cause of it is not. And it shows up in the coming weeks, days, months elsewhere. The cause is not treated, meaning the disease increases. Plus, you have a medication, and this medication ensures that you still get side effects. In addition to the disease you already have, you have a second problem if you do not treat the cause. And therefore, it is essential to look at the old doctors, the great doctors, whom we all know by name, but unfortunately, no Muslim doctor knows Ibn Sina. And I bet with you that there is no Muslim doctor who knows how Ibn Sina treated blood sugar. There is none. We have so many doctors, and everyone talks about Ibn Sina, and everyone talks about Al-Zahrawi and Ibn Nafis, who invented this circulatory system and so on, 500, 700 years before Harvey, and so on, all before the pioneers and so on, the golden age of Islam. But we do not know at all what they did. That is just daydreaming. We do not know how they treated. And if we do not understand how to treat the causes, if one does not know how to treat the causes, then you will constantly waver back and forth and get problems through the disease and through the side effects. That is, if you have a disease and you say the blood sugar is too high or the blood pressure is too high, and the cause is, for example, my diet, then I must adjust my diet. You are not allowed to take medication in the old medicine; the doctors forbade taking a medication if the disease is treatable with diet. It is forbidden that you take a medication or an herb if you can adjust it with your diet. And there are the Dastoor, there are six essential factors. We cannot manage to go through all of them now due to time, but number two is diet. There are six others. The first is the environment, the air, the temperature, and so on.
The second is nutrition. The third is sleep, which is also essential. Some diseases could actually disappear if one has regulated sleep. The fourth is the psyche. There are also many diseases that can actually be resolved with it. The fifth is movement. Alone, this is therapy for everything: sports, movement. And the sixth is restraint and excretion. This means that you excrete what you eat. If you fail to excrete it, it remains inside, you gain weight, you have pressure in the abdomen, it increases, blood pressure rises, blood sugar rises. If you excrete too much, you have deficiency syndromes, vitamin D deficiency, magnesium deficiency, and so on, then too much has been excreted from the body. This must be in balance. Exactly. We take a break for the Adhan, and then I have another 10 minutes to continue. Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. >> Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar >> I bear witness that there is no god but Allah >> I bear witness that there is no god but Allah >> I bear witness that there is no god but Allah >> I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah >> Hurry to prayer >> Hurry to prayer >> Hurry to success >> Hurry to success. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar >> Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar >> There is no god but Allah >> There is no god but Allah, He alone, without partner. O Allah, bless him. I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Great. In the name of Allah, we continue, God willing. The strange thing I found is that when I went to India and learned ancient Arab medicine, which is unknown in Arab countries—even I, after studying medicine and working in hospitals, learned a new type of medicine, a strange kind, including Prophetic medicine. I knew cupping and did these things, but there is a vast, unknown medicine among us in Arab countries: ancient Arab medicine, which speaks of hot diseases, cold diseases, moist diseases, dry diseases, causes, temperament, and humors present in humans. All of this is unknown to us; they do not know it now. In Germany, I also spoke and said: We have many doctors from Arab countries, Turkey, and Muslim backgrounds, but they do not know Ibn Sina. We only know the name Ibn Sina, but we do not know what he treated. If you ask any doctor—right now I challenge us here to ask any Arab doctor how Ibn Sina treated high blood pressure—he does not know how to answer because he does not know the medical methodology that existed at that time. So, unfortunately, we try to revive this, to bring this medicine back to our minds and our intellects, so that we treat people by causes, not by symptoms. Because even Western medicine, or the folk medicine we call it now, or the herbal medicine that exists, or even Prophetic medicine—how it is treated now does not fit ancient medicine. I mean, the medicine we follow now: we say herbs. What are herbs? It has no methodology, no method. It only tells you, for example, the doctor gives you and says, “Here, take ibuprofen.” He says, “No, here, take ginger.” But there is no great methodology present in it, which we have. I mean, we do not have much time to enter into this topic, but I would like to give you the six necessary causes for diseases and for health. The six necessary causes: no person can distance themselves from these six causes. The first is air. The air surrounding us; air affects your health. If, for example, you know the sun came out—two weeks ago we had cold, and within a day or night it became 10 or 15 degrees in temperature. What happened? Suddenly allergies appeared. Allergies come from above. Why? Not because of what is in the trees, but from inside the body. There are things that were, for example, inside during winter and now want to come out of the body because there are old toxins present inside, and they come out now. So the treatment must be internal, not for the trees, nor to calm the symptoms. We can calm them a little until we pray, but the causes: we treat, we clean, we purify the body so that it can adapt to the weather. So the weather is number one in affecting our bodies. The second is food. Treatment by food. Food, eating: we could spend hours talking about it, but most of the... the house of disease is the stomach. The house of disease and diet is healing. If we complete this topic, we can treat many diseases and not need medications, and reduce the medications present in them. The third is sleep and wakefulness. Sometimes it treats many diseases. If you treat sleep—for example, you sleep early in the last ten days of Ramadan, there is no problem. We can stay up all night and read the Quran; there is no problem with that. But this is once a year, once a year. One can do this, but the Companions were with the Isha prayer; they dozed off there. There is a hadith that they were waiting and dozing off, so that in the Arabian Peninsula, at seven or eight o’clock, it would be...
There are those who go to sleep, and the last third gets up; there is no problem with that. But we begin after the Isha prayer with things, and we see that diseases come, because treating the causes is the most important thing: yes, air, food, sleep and wakefulness, movement, physical movement, exercise is one of the most important things, because the humors present inside are expelled with sweat. And if you eat more than you consume, surely this will be the cause of diseases. So the treatment may simply be that you move, or eat less, so that it is balanced with the excretion present in it. The fifth is psychological movement and stillness, meaning anger, joy, and these things all have an impact on the body. Your body can be treated through feelings or emotions, or recitation of the Quran, or sitting with the righteous, or other things. But if you remain playing alone, you take antidepressant medications, and this is the case. But this does not treat the cause. The last one is excretion and retention of substances present inside. Meaning, if you eat and do not expel, surely this will cause diseases. So it must be, for example, in the year, and also in Ramadan, or before Ramadan. We always have a program we follow before Ramadan to clean the body before preparing for Ramadan with herbs and with the dietary system, and we expel substances from our bodies, and with movement and with exercises, and we begin Ramadan and we are strong. So these six necessary causes, meaning everyone must maintain them. And due to the tightness of time, we cannot devote more time to this area. But everyone should try to start from themselves and see from within how they can treat themselves from one of these six. For example, if I have a strong sensitivity and a headache and a fever in the body, I do not sit in the sun, especially now. Do not sit in the sun, stay away from the sun. And if your body is cold, and we enter the topic of temperaments, but there is no time for temperaments. Cold temperaments enter, meaning let it remain in the sun all day, there is no problem. But hot bodies, and many Arabs have hot bodies, do not sit in the sun.
I would like to briefly address another topic. There are different human types. The Prophet Muhammad was an expert in determining, when someone came in, how to respond to him, because he knew, if he comes now, how I should respond to him. And doctors have the same. They did not always give the same medicine to everyone who came. If a patient came and said, I have a headache, he then gave him ginger as therapy. Another came and said, you must not drink ginger. That would harm you. Why? Because his body is different. There are different human typologies, body temperaments. Okay, there are hot and there are cold, warm, moist and dry. There are different types. And accordingly, the doctor should actually also choose which dietary supplements, herbs, and so on he has to give. And not as it is today on Instagram, TikTok, and so on. Yes, just take that, just take Schilact, just take Ashwagandha, just take Q10, just take that. Yes, everyone has to swallow Omega-3 capsules all day, swallow Vitamin D capsules, we must swallow everything all the time. Yes, so that is not the therapy. The therapy is to find out what his problem is, and we want to treat the cause. If you can treat the cause, you must also know what it is in which thermal relations. That is, is it a warm type, is it a cold type, is it a moist one, is it a dry one, and accordingly you adjust your diet, accordingly you adjust your medications, and therefore one should be careful with trying dietary supplements. Try Schilact, try that, and now there is something new, and I then have something new, and these are miracle cures, and so on. All these things can ensure that your liver breaks. If you have a hot illness and you consume turmeric, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, chili, and so on, then you break it. Do you have a cold-moist body and you take that, you are healthy. You must find out what kind of constitution your liver has, your kidney has, your vessels have. If you have a headache and you take something hot, some anise, cloves, cinnamon, and so on, you get even more headaches. And then they still say, go into the sun.
in vitamin D and so on. You will get even more headaches. It breaks it down. You must know what the cause is. If it is too dry, you need moisture. If it is too hot, you need cold. If it is too cold, you need warmth. This balance of these four qualities is essential in order to be able to treat sustainably and correctly. With this, you have then treated the cause of the illnesses, in contrast to what we said earlier, always only treating the illness symptomatically, because that brings even more problems with it, and how to find that out and so on, that is a long story, so one has to go to specialists and look, but I only want to sensitize you a little to the fact that you always reflect on yourself and rather think about what can I change in my life, what can I change in my diet, what can I change in my sleep, what can I change in my psyche, in my social behavior. What can I change in my movement so that I become healthy? But all the time throwing in burgers, fries and so on, Fanta, cola and so on, and at the same time taking sugar tablets, blood pressure tablets and so on. I take something, that makes no sense at all. Yes, it is logical that it will eventually decompensate. That will not work. Okay, having too much food and heartburn and constipation and so on, it belongs together. Then you simply eat a little less, digest it well, and only when you have digested it properly can you then take the next meal. So everyone should pay attention and look at what is healthiest for themselves. The last topic in Arabic is the topic of temperaments. There is a temperament, the personal temperament. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was such that people would ask one question and he would give several answers according to the person who came. If one person came to ask him a question, he would answer with a completely different answer than for another person. Why? Because the person who comes to him has causes, has opinions, has ideas, has a different body than the second person. So with the doctor it is the same thing. If a sick person comes to a doctor and says I have a headache, Western medicine gives you ibuprofen or Novagen or a painkiller, any person who comes takes the same medicine. But old Arab medicine says no, according to the person, because there is a temperament. The temperament in old medicine means the degree of heat and cold, moisture and dryness. There is a hot, moist temperament, meaning his body is hot and strong, red, with pressure, moist, his face is red and strong, he speaks loudly and quickly and moves. And there is the cold, dry one, calm, thinks, looks, does not speak much, but his brain works all the time. If he has a headache, he needs hot, moist medicines, he needs tea, he needs chicken broth, he needs fats and cholesterol and all these things, he needs them so that his body relaxes and the headache and depression go away. But if you give the same medicine to the other one whose body is hot and moist, it may cause a clot in the head or in the heart, because his body is different from this one. So according to the diagnosis, the doctor treats. You cannot say, for example, I take ginger for the intestines, and your intestines are hot. If you take ginger, it may cause ulcers in the intestines because of the ginger. But the other one has a lot of phlegm in his body, you give him ginger and tell him to drink as much as he likes, and the disease goes away. But now the means of communication, anyone tells you take this and try this and take this, and everyone, God willing, and people take and buy, buy in packets, they say that they do not like the chemical stuff, but they have omega 3, they have vitamin D, they have vitamins, they have everything, there is no problem with that. But as we said, I just want to draw attention to the fact that we treat the causes, we treat the causes, and the one
