The miracles sent by God to the Prophet Muhammad clearly attest to his truthfulness and bring honour to his community; the listeners are to be prepared for the Last Day through the fear of God and the formula of blessing.
God supported him with clear miracles that proved his truthfulness.
The text is an Islamic sermon (khutbah) that presents the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad as proof of his messengership. It begins with the customary praise of God and the formula of confession, in which God is described as formless, bodiless, and without location. Several miracle narratives from hadith collections are then recounted: the weeping date-palm stump, the moving tree, the water flowing from between the fingers, and the splitting of the moon. Each narrative is supported by a source citation (al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Hibban, among others). The text concludes with a second address that calls for the formula of blessing (salawat) upon the Prophet, for the fear of God, and for preparation for the Last Day. There is no explicit reference to the present; the appeals are directed at the congregation present. The central message is that the miracles clearly attest to the truthfulness of the Prophet and that belonging to him brings honour.

Praise befits Allâh, the Exalted. May Allâh protect us from committing sins. The one who has been guided by God will not go astray, and the one who has been led astray by God will not find guidance. I bear witness that there is no god except Allâh, the One, Who has no partner and to Whom nothing and no one is comparable. The One Who has no figure, no form, and no limbs. The One Who is not a body and has no dimensions. The One Who exists without a place. And I bear witness that our honored, beloved, and great Prophet Mu h ammad is the servant and messenger of God. A s - S alâtu and as-Salâmu upon you, O Messenger of Allâh, and all the other prophets.
Then, servants of God, I exhort you and myself to righteousness.
Allâhu Ta^âlâ says in the Sûrah al-Fat h , Âyah 28:
The meaning is: Allâh is the One Who sent His Prophet with the call to belief in the Oneness of God and Islam as a religion, to manifest the distinctiveness of the religion – Islam; it suffices that Allâh testifies.
Brothers in Islam, the Messenger of God Mu h ammad proclaimed the religion, delivered the message, and warned against the punishment. He was harmed, yet he remained patient and steadfast. He taught ceaselessly and relentlessly in cold and in heat, in all seasons, by day and by night. People who initially denied him were softened by his exhortation and accepted his call. Their hearts were hard as stone and dark, and they became soft and radiant through his teachings. Allâh supported him with clear miracles that proved his truthfulness.
The number of miracles of the Prophet Mu h ammad that occurred during his lifetime is so great that it was said to be between 1,000 and 3,000 miracles. When Imâm asch-Schâfi^îyy one day taught that the greatest miracles had occurred for the Prophet Mu h ammad, someone said to him: For the Prophet ^Îsâ, dead people were brought back to life. He replied: A tree stump lamented out of longing for the Prophet, so that its voice was heard. This miracle is greater!
Al-Bukhâriyy narrated in his Sa h î h that Djâbir Ibn ^Abdi l-Lâh reported: A woman from the An s âr came to the Prophet, told him that her son is a carpenter, and offered the Prophet to have a pulpit (Minbar) built for him. The Messenger of God said to her (in meaning): If you wish, do so. She had the pulpit built, and when the Messenger of God stood upon it the following Friday, the date palm stump beside which the Messenger of God used to preach began to cry out loudly, until the Messenger of God left the pulpit, went to the stump, and embraced it. The stump gradually calmed down, comparable to a weaning infant being soothed.
Ibn H ibbân narrated in his Sa h î h: When al- H asan, Ra d iya l-Lâhu ^Anhu, narrated this story, he wept and said: Servants of God, a piece of wood longs for the Messenger of God ﷺ, yet you should rather be those who long for him.
Among the miracles of our Prophet is also the coming of trees to him and their bearing witness. Ibn Hibbân, al-Bayhaqî and others transmitted that ʿAbd Allâh Ibn ʿUmar narrated: We were traveling with the Messenger of God and we encountered a Bedouin. The Messenger of God approached him and asked him where he was going. He said: To my relatives. The Messenger of God offered to tell him something beneficial. The Bedouin asked: What is it? The Prophet said (in meaning): That you bear witness that Allâh is the only God, that He has no partner, and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of God. The Bedouin asked: What proves to me the truth of your words? The Messenger of God said (in meaning): This tree. Then he commanded a tree that was far away in the valley to come to him. The tree moved until it stood before the Messenger of God, and it bore witness to him three times.
Dear brothers in Islam, among the miracles of our Prophet is also the flowing of water from the spaces between the fingers of the Messenger of God. This happened several times and was seen with the naked eye by a large number of the Companions. Al-Bukhârî and Muslim transmitted the narration of Jâbir: The people were thirsty on the day of al-Ḥudaybiyah, but they had no more water. The only water was in a small vessel, with which the Messenger of God wanted to perform the ablution. They stood before the Messenger of God with concern, then he asked them (in meaning): What is the matter? They said: O Messenger of God, we have no more water for washing or drinking. The only water we have is the one you are holding in your hands. Thereupon he dipped his hand into the water and from the spaces between his fingers the water began to flow like a spring. Thus we were able to drink and wash again. Then the question arose: How many were you? He said: Had we been 100,000, it would have been sufficient for us, but we were 1,500 persons.
Among his great miracles is the splitting of the moon into two halves, one half was behind the mountain of Abî Qubays and the other half in front of it. This miracle was confirmed both in the noble Qurʾân and in the honored Sunnah, as transmitted by al-Bukhârî, Muslim, at-Tirmidhî, Aḥmad, al-Bayhaqî, Ibn Hibbân and others. Allâhu Taʿâlâ says in Sûrah al-Qamar, verses 1 and 2:
The meaning is: The Day of Judgment has drawn near and the moon has been split. They saw this miracle, yet they turned away and claimed that it was magic.
Al-Bukhârî transmitted that Anas, may God be pleased with him, narrated: The people of Makkah demanded a miracle from the Prophet, and at his sign the moon split. According to another transmission this happened twice. Abû Nuʿaym transmitted that Ibn Masʿûd narrated: The moon split for the Messenger of God, thereupon his deniers from the tribe of Quraysh said: This is magic. They meant that the Messenger of God had performed magic. Thereupon it was said to them: Ask the travelers, for Muḥammad could not have bewitched all people. Later, traveling groups arrived in Makkah and reported that they had seen the same thing.
It is an honor for us to belong to this Prophet. Allâh gave him great miracles that clearly prove his truthfulness. Blessed is the one whose role model is the Prophet Muḥammad.
This is all, and I ask Allâh for forgiveness for you and for me.
The second sermon
Praise be to Allâh, the Exalted above the attributes of the created beings. There is no god except Allâh. Him alone we worship sincerely and we associate no partner with Him.
Praise be to Allâh, the Creator of the Universe. As-Salâtu and as-Salâmu upon our honored Prophet Muhammad and all the other Messengers and Prophets. May the love of God be bestowed upon the wives of the Prophet ﷺ as well as the Muslim relatives of the Prophet, the righteous Caliphs Abû Bakr, ^Umar, ^Uthmân and ^Aliyy, the rightly guided scholars Abû Hânîfah, Mâlik, asch-Schâfi^iyy and Aḥmad and the Saints (Awliyâ´).
Then, servants of God, I call upon you and myself to righteousness and to the fear of Allâh, the Exalted and Almighty.
And know that Allâh called you to something important. He has called you to pronounce As-Salâtu wa as-Salâmu upon the Prophet.
Allâh, the Exalted, says in Sûratu l-´Aḥzâb, Âyah 56:
The meaning is: Allâh gives the Prophet (Muhammad) a higher rank and the angels ask Allâh to give him a higher rank. O you who believe, ask Allâh too to give the Prophet a higher rank and to protect his community from what the Prophet fears for them.
O Allâh, give the Prophet Muhammad and his Âl a higher rank, just as You gave the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl a high rank. And give the Prophet Muhammad and his Âl blessings, just as You gave the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl blessings. You are the One who is described with perfect power and mercy and the One who has the right to be praised. Allâh, the Exalted, says in the noble Qur´ân:
The meaning is: O you people, be among the righteous. Verily, on the Day of Judgment, tremendous events will occur. On that day, every nursing mother will forget her infant, every pregnant woman will lose what she carries, and the people will be considered drunk, although they are not, but the punishment of God is very severe.
O Allâh, we ask You to fulfill our supplication, to forgive us our sins and mistakes, to let us belong to the rightly guided and not to those who have gone astray. O Allâh, we ask You to remove our worries and our grief from us and to protect us from what we fear.
Servants of God, Allâh calls to justice, to good conduct and to maintaining kinship ties, and He forbids the abominable, the evil and injustice. This is an admonition so that you may reflect. Fulfill the duties and refrain from sins, ask God for forgiveness and trust in God, be righteous and He will remove your worries and distress from you. Aqimi s-Salâh! (Call the Iqâmah)

Allâh, der Erhabene, sagt in Sûratu l-´A hz âb, Âyah 56:
A q imi s - S alâh ! (Sag die I q âmah auf)
