The intense public enthusiasm and the active participation of all age groups in the Pope's pastoral visit bear witness to the living, loving unity and the spiritual well-being of the Christian community in the Egyptian Sa'id.
Throughout the entire days of the visit, the true picture of the relationship between the children of the Church and their Pope and Shepherd was revealed. This picture was embodied by the great crowds that gathered in the streets of the cities and villages as well as on the roads connecting the villages, waiting for the moment when His Holiness the Pope would pass by their village
The text documents the pastoral visit of Pope Tawadros II to the Egyptian regions of Minya and Beni Suef, which he concluded before his weekly sermon. He visited the Diocese of Mallawi, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary of foundation, as well as the monasteries in Bahnsa and the Wadi Qalamun. In Bahnsa, a new monastery was opened to revive monastic life, while at the Monastery of Saint Samuel the new cathedral was consecrated. In the Diocese of Ba, El Fushun, and Samasta, which was celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Pope laid the cornerstone for a new church. The text describes in detail the great enthusiasm of the population, who welcomed the Pope with banners, cries, and palm branches. It is emphasized that all age groups were present and showed a deep bond with the head of the Church. The visit included the consecration of three churches and numerous meetings with priests, monks, and laypeople. The text frames these events as an expression of the living love and unity within the Christian community of Egypt.

His Holiness the Pope on the village of Ezba Jafar: "Its people are very loving and extremely blessed, and there is great unity among all Egyptians in this village."
His Holiness the Pope spoke about his pastoral tour of the Upper Egypt region, which he began mid-last week and concluded the day before yesterday. It included visits to two dioceses and two monasteries. This came before the beginning of his sermon at the Wednesday weekly gathering at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in El Obour.
His Holiness said: "Last week I visited both Minya and Beni Suef. I was in Malawi with His Beatitude Bishop Demetrius in a flourishing diocese celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding and the 40th anniversary of the ordination of His Beatitude Bishop Demetrius, and for as many years to come."
He added: "In this diocese there is a monastery for monks and another for nuns, and there is also a house for the consecrated. There is a council of the priestly fathers, and there are very blessed and diverse ministries."
He continued his speech saying: "I also visited a new monastery in Bahnsa in the name of the Virgin Mary and the Archangel Michael. The region of Bahnsa has a great monastic history, and its presence is a revival of monasticism in this region. The monastery is under the leadership of His Beatitude Bishop Thomas and has a number of monks. This flourishing monastery is growing and expanding, and its location helps many to visit it. I also visited the Monastery of St. Samuel the Confessor in the Desert of Qalamon, which is one of our flourishing and very ancient monasteries. It is a blessed monastery from which many saints have emerged, and it is under the care of His Beatitude Bishop Basil, Bishop and Abbot of the monastery. The monk fathers there have a blessed and holy life, and the monastery remains isolated from life in general, so we find in it the authentic monastic character. We consecrated the monastery's new cathedral there."
Regarding the final visit, he said: "The last stop of the visit was to the Diocese of Bba, El Fushn, and Samasta with His Beatitude Bishop Stephanos, Bishop of the diocese, which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding. The diocese also has many activities, and it has a council of priests and a council of the consecrated. The ministry there is diverse, and it has a blessed people. We consecrated a large church there and laid the cornerstone in the new city of El Fushn for a church in the name of the Popes, Pope Athanasius the Apostolic and Pope Cyril the Sixth. We concluded this visit with the village of Jafar, which has a church in the name of St. Antony, and its people are very loving and extremely blessed, and there is great unity among all Egyptians in this small village. The people's bond and their generosity are very evident."
He concluded: "This visit was a pastoral visitation of the dioceses and monasteries in Beni Suef and Minya."
The visit included diverse pastoral activities, during which three churches were consecrated, and seven meetings were held with councils of priests, monks, nuns, and consecrated, in addition to many official and popular meetings, the opening of service projects, and the laying of cornerstones for churches and service buildings.
Throughout the days of the visit, the true image of the relationship between the members of the Church and their Pope and their shepherd was manifested. This image was embodied by the large numbers of residents who gathered in the streets of the cities and villages, as well as on the roads connecting between the villages, waiting for the moment His Holiness the Pope would pass in front of their village. The scene was adorned with an overflow of feelings that they expressed with palm fronds and signs bearing words of welcome, and with zaghareed (women's celebratory cries) and chants of "We love you, O Pope" and "The Pope is like a rose" and others.
The wonderful thing also is the participation of all ages in this epic of love: children, boys and girls, men and women, the old and the young. Everyone is present, and everyone is competing to receive the apostolic blessing from the father and shepherd who came to visit them and to inquire after their spiritual well-being, in a living application of the motto of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II: "LOVE NEVER FAILS."
