Belief in Allâh and in His Messenger is the best of all deeds and the foundation without which no other duty is valid; whoever denies this belief or attributes sins to the Prophet acts in unbelief.
The basis of righteousness is correct knowledge about Allâh and His Messenger and belief in Allâh and His Messenger. This is the first of all duties, the foundation as well as the most important and best of all duties.
The text is an Islamic sermon that highlights belief in Allâh and in His Messenger as the best deed and the foundation of all duties. It defines belief in Allâh as the unshakeable conviction of His existence without resemblance to creatures, without body, volume, place, or direction. Belief in the Messenger encompasses his absolute truthfulness, infallibility, and preservation from sins and unbelief. The text explicitly warns against attributing suicidal thoughts to the Prophet during the pause in revelation and declares such a claim to be unbelief. Several Quranic verses and a hadith from al-Bukhâriyy are cited to support the core message. The sermon calls for righteousness, for the fear of God, for the performance of duties, and for the avoidance of sins. It concludes with supplications for forgiveness, guidance, and deliverance from Hell, as well as with a call for justice and good conduct.

Praise be to Allâh, the Exalted. We praise Him, seek His support, guidance, and forgiveness. May Allâh protect us from committing sins. He whom God has guided will not go astray, and he whom God has led astray will not find guidance. I bear witness that there is no god except Allâh, the One, Who has no partner and to Whom nothing and no one is similar. And I bear witness that our honored, beloved, and great Prophet Muḥammad is the servant and messenger of God. He conveyed the message and admonished the community, may Allâh reward him more than all other prophets. O Allâh, grant the Prophet Muḥammad and his Āl a higher rank, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrāhīm and his Āl a high rank. And grant the Prophet Muḥammad and his Āl blessings, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrāhīm and his Āl blessings. You are the One Who is described with perfect power and mercy, and the One Who has the right to be praised.
Then, O servant of God, Allâh, the Exalted, says in Sūrah at-Tawbah, verse 119:
The meaning is: O you who believe, be with the righteous and the truthful.
Thus, I call upon you and myself to righteousness and to the fear of Allâh, the Exalted and Almighty. Fulfill the duties, refrain from sins, and know, brothers in Islam, that the foundation of righteousness is the correct knowledge of Allâh and His Messenger, and the belief in Allâh and His Messenger. This is the first of all duties, the foundation, as well as the most important and best of all duties. Imām al-Bukhārī narrated from Abū Hurayrah that the Messenger of God ﷺ was asked which deed is the best. He answered:
The meaning is: Belief in Allâh and in His Messenger.
Thus, the generally best deed is belief in Allâh and in His Messenger. This is the foundation, and all other duties have no validity without the correct belief.
Belief in Allâh means: The unwavering conviction of His existence. Allâh exists and resembles nothing and no one. He is not a body and does not resemble bodies. Likewise, He has no volume and does not resemble volumes. He is neither a solid body—like the human, the stone, or the tree—nor a gaseous body—like air, the jinn, or the angels. Allâh, the Exalted, does not resemble humans nor other creatures. He does not resemble air, the soul, light, angels, or jinn. Allâh, the Exalted, exists and resembles no creature, as is evident from Sūrah ash-Shūrā, verse 11:
The meaning is: Allâh resembles nothing and no one. And He is the All-Hearing and the All-Seeing.
Whatever you imagine, Allâh does not resemble it. One cannot imagine Allâh, and He has no likenesses. The highest knowledge one can attain regarding Allâh is to firmly believe that He, the Exalted, exists without how and without place. This means that the highest level that human knowledge regarding Allâh can reach is the conviction that His existence does not resemble the existence of creatures. This also includes the belief that He is described with perfect attributes that befit Him. His attributes do not resemble the attributes of creatures. Allâh does not exist in any of the six directions nor at a place. This is the meaning of belief in Allâh.
Belief in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ means firmly believing that Muhammad ﷺ is the Messenger of Allah and truthful in everything he proclaimed from Allah. This concerns both the forbidden and the permissible, reports about past communities, as well as matters concerning life in the grave and the Hereafter. In these matters, he never committed any error. Allah supported him with miracles that constitute absolute proof of his truthfulness. Allah endowed him – as well as all other prophets – with truthfulness and trustworthiness and preserved them from characteristics incompatible with prophethood. He never committed disbelief, neither before nor after prophethood. He also never committed a major or a minor, degrading sin. He called people to the Islamic religion, which is the religion of all prophets. Islam is the religion that Allah loves and whose following He commands. The one who dies upon Islam will enter Paradise, even if he should belong to those whom Allah does not forgive their sins and punishes in Hell. The only way to salvation from eternal punishment in Hell is belief in Allah and in His Messenger. Allah, the Exalted, says in Surah al-Fath, Ayah 13:
The meaning is: Whoever does not believe in Allah and in His Messenger, then Allah has prepared for them a blazing Fire.
Allah, the Exalted, says in Surah Ali 'Imran, Ayah 116:
The meaning is: Those who disbelieve, neither their wealth nor their children will be of any avail to them against Allah.
We ask Allah to keep us steadfast upon faith and to honor us with death upon perfect faith. May He include us among those who enter Paradise without prior punishment. Indeed, Allah is the Most Merciful.
This is it, and I ask Allah for forgiveness for you and for me.
The Second Sermon
Praise be to Allah, the Exalted above the attributes of creation. There is no god but Allah. We worship Him alone sincerely and we associate no partner with Him.
Praise be to Allah, the Creator of the universe. As-Salatu and as-Salamu upon our honored Prophet Muhammad and all other messengers and prophets. May the love of Allah be bestowed upon the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, as well as upon the Muslim relatives of the Prophet, the righteous caliphs Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali, the rightly guided scholars Abu Hanifa, Malik, ash-Shafi'i, and Ahmad, and the saints (Awliya').
Then, O servants of Allah, I call you and myself to righteousness and to the fear of Allah, the Exalted and Almighty.
O servants of Allah, know that the prophets are preserved from committing major sins or even intending them. Accordingly, it is obligatory to warn against the claim that the Messenger ﷺ intended to commit suicide during the phase when revelation was interrupted. Attributing such a thing to the Prophet is disbelief, so that anyone who has made this claim is obligated to pronounce the declaration of faith in order to become a Muslim. As for the narration of al-Bukhari that the Prophet ﷺ climbed to one of the peaks of Mecca during the phase when revelation was interrupted and had the intention to throw himself into the depths, the Prophet's intention was based on his firm conviction that he would not suffer harm, i.e., it was meant to be an extraordinary experience to alleviate the intense feeling of longing for revelation.
And know that Allâh called you to something important. He has called you to recite A s - S alâtu was-Salâmu for the Prophet.
Allâh, the Exalted, says in Sûratu l-´A hz âb, Âyah 56:
O Allâh, grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his Âl a higher rank, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl a high rank. And grant the Prophet Mu h ammad and his Âl blessings, just as You granted the Prophet Ibrâhîm and his Âl blessings. You are the One who is described with perfect power and mercy, and the One who has the right to be praised. Allâh, the Exalted, says in the holy Q ur´ân :
The meaning is: O mankind, be among the righteous. Indeed, on the Day of Judgment, tremendous events will occur. On that day, every nursing mother will forget what she is nursing, every pregnant woman will lose what she carries, and people will be considered drunk, although they are not, but the punishment of God is severe.
O Allâh, we ask You to fulfill our supplication, to forgive our sins and mistakes, to let us belong to the rightly guided, and not to those who have gone astray. O Allâh, we ask You to remove our worries and our grief from us and to protect us from what we fear.
Servants of God, Allâh calls to justice, to good conduct, and to maintaining kinship ties, and He forbids obscenities, evil, and injustice. This is an admonition so that you may reflect. Perform the duties and refrain from sins, ask God for forgiveness and trust in God, be righteous, and He will remove your worries and distress from you. A q imi s - S alâh ! (Call the I q âmah)

Allâh, der Erhabene, sagt in Sûratu l-´A hz âb, Âyah 56:
A q imi s - S alâh ! (Sag die I q âmah auf)
