The peaceful reaction of the Ahmadiyya community to the Lahore attack proves that it represents the true succession of the Prophet Muhammad, and only through humility and the abandonment of arrogance can the truth be recognized in the end times.
For me, Muhammad sallam, um, was practically the Quran on two legs, and um, his way of life and examples, I then found in Ahmadiyya, which is why there was no other choice for me but to then give him the Salam, to convey it.
The text is an interview with Gökhan Yesil, who comes from Turkey, lives in Duisburg, and converted to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in 2010. He describes his path from Alevism through the acceptance of Islam in 2005/2006 to the decision for the Ahmadiyya community. The central event is the Lahore attack of 28 May 2010, in which Ahmadiyya Muslims were murdered. Yesil argues that the peaceful reaction of the Ahmadiyya to violence - prayer instead of revenge - showed him the alignment with the practice of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions. He emphasizes the significance of the Khilafat institution and the Caliph as the present authority. The text contains a call for humility and the abandonment of arrogance in order to be able to recognize the truth. It is directed both at his own community and at other Muslims, who are called to the truth.

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Ever-Merciful. Peace be upon you all, and a warm welcome to another episode of The Path to Light. Today we have Brother Gökan with us. Alikum Gökanumam. Thank you so much for taking the time. Gökan, tell us about yourself. Who are you? Where are you from? How did you grow up? Yes, I am Görkan Nische, I come from Turkey, I live in Duisburg in the Ruhr area. I am now 39 years old and since 2010 Ahmadi. I am a small business owner in the Ruhr area, Rhineland-Palatinate. I was born as an Alevite. Alevite. Okay. And in Alevism there are customs and traditions that are very cultural, and one grew up very freely, without being pushed in any direction. Yes. That was naturally to my advantage, because I was then able to move freely. So I then accepted Islam for myself in 2005, end of 2005, beginning of 2006. Through September 11th, of course, also many events, targeted against Islam, against religion, and one engaged with religion, and through certain gatherings with Muslim friends, one naturally also learned a bit about Islam. Yes. And Islam appealed to me, so the Quran itself, which I was then allowed to read, appealed to me, and at that time I then accepted Islam. I then engaged more closely with the topic of Islam, with the practices, especially the tradition about the Holy Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him. And so it developed towards Islam, so that I then in 2010 through the Lahore attack, this terror attack against Ahmadis, became aware of the Ahmadis. Okay. Okay. Before that you had no point of contact with the? Okay. No. While I say, in my so-called study of Islam, which took place before Ahmadiyya, about four years, I engaged very deeply or very intensively with the Hadiths, and especially in the last one, two years before Ahmadiyya with the End Times, which is why for me also the significance of Imam Mahdi, the Messiah in Islam, the expectation of Muslims was very interesting, and through certain events one then specialized in prayers in that regard, so that one wants to count among those who at the end of time do not belong to the lost, but to those who are pleasing to God, acceptable. And so God willed it, there was then an event in Lahore, the attack, which then popped up in my research on the internet on YouTube, and I then examined more closely who attacked and whom they attacked, so whom they attacked, and then I say, apparently Muslims, who claim to be Muslims and to stand for the God we have come to know in the Quran and for the practice of the Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, and on the other hand those who also consider themselves Muslims and claim to be the community of the End Times. When I came into contact with this and had to make a decision for myself, first of all the patterns were important, the template, which one could previously get to know through the practice of the Holy Prophet and his Sahaba, were those the templates or the patterns that I then transferred to the behavior of both groups, okay, and recognized for myself that the practice of the Ahmadis towards their enemies, towards their attackers, had a very, very high similarity with the Sahaba, with the Companions of the Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, who were raised in the presence of Mohammed. What became clearly visible to me from this event was that a group of people, apparently Muslims, a group of those who were oppressed, were partially murdered by their hand. And the reaction of the Ahmadis following that was prayer. And that naturally fascinated me, what kind of attitude, what kind of calm, what kind of peace, what kind of reaction to violence follows. And that has
of course very, very overwhelmed and it gave me the ah signal or the sign that one has to go closer, that one has to look more closely into it. And through the research I then came upon the White Messiah, upon the Jamat website ah and I recognized for myself that he cannot be a liar, but that what he teaches has actually been put into practice and that it is in accordance with the Sunnah. For me, Mohammed sallam ahm was practically the Quran on two legs and ahm his way of life and examples I then found in Ahmadiyya, which is why there was no other choice for me than to then give him the Salam, to convey it. Alhamdulillah. That is very beautiful and very interesting also to see the teaching of Ahmed. The example of the Ahmadis in accordance with the practices of the White Messiah Alam, that we also respond to hatred or also to enmity only with love, only with prayer, with Durood prayers upon the Prophet Mohammad s. It also comes to mind an event, a very emotional one, that ahm in this Lahore attack there is the event that a mother ahm said to her son, who had lost his father right there in Lahore, that ahm next Friday you should stand exactly at the place where your father was murdered. Yes. and because your father was killed for a great purpose and that is so one cannot imagine, right, that one still experiences ahm such a thing in this present time. That can only have been an Ahmadi mother, right? There are numerous examples from the past from the time of Mohammed S. including the topic of Taif, where he was pelted with stones by children. And I think there are of course various fronts that we have to deal with. On the one hand the intra-Islamic conflicts and on the other hand also the external attacks on Islam as a whole. And what pains me the most is of course the intra-Islamic conflict at the moment, because if one has been swimming in the ocean for all those years and then sees an island or land, one is in happiness and joy that one then reaches land and finds rest and plants trees, flowers, beautiful flowers of all kinds. And many have the longing to also see Haz Abu Bakr, Haz Omar, anhu or further companions and Sahaba of whom it has been transmitted. And we now have the fortune or I personally have a great joy and the fortune through the grace of Allah, that we through the Khilafat of Haz represent or hold the office of the Khalifa, which is a firm institution of the Quran, of Islam, that we in his personality currently see at the forefront the practice as it is valid today. And as long as we follow in his footsteps always in accordance with his step, I think it is all the more beautiful to resist with prayers and not to resist in exactly the way that was described that at the end of time the Dajjal in that case that he cannot be defeated with weapons. And if weapons are directed intra-Islamically against ourselves and only Ahmadis respond with prayers, then it explains itself what the truth can be for one in this end time. And since also intra-Islamically many groups are in disagreement and come together in one matter to go against a single group that has held it for over 100 years now, then one is all the more pleased about it that one finds oneself in it and also with that the responsibility grows intra-Islamically to strengthen other Muslim brothers in being inclined toward the truth, to carry the love of truth within oneself. For only through the laying aside of arrogance and pride, I think, is the experience, because also I myself have been traveling in many mosques, in Tunisian, Moroccan, Arabic, Turkish. And always what I myself found in my experience is that knowledge alone is not sufficient, but also the recognition from it, which one must then translate into humility. And from humility and God-fear one can then certain truths
to recognize, as long as arrogance and pride and the pretense of knowing something or being able to speak Arabic, as long as that dwells in a person's heart, it is a great obstacle to recognizing the truth. For even the Mullahs who now in Lahore had prepared this mob, one could see in them a clear signal or a clear sign, that particularly stood out, that they would rather die than admit that they had been wrong for years. And that also often applies in our everyday life with our parents. I mean, if Allah were to make them a prophet and send them to their father to guide him to the right path, the father would usually say, who are you to know the way for me? And this pride and this arrogance, exactly. Yes, that stands in the way of most people within Islam and in extra-Islamic conflict, that is directed against Islam, there is of course much more to say, but I also do not want to seem to be going on about your life story now, after you gained this realization following the attack of May 28, 2010 in Lahore, that the Ahmadiyya is the community that follows the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). How did you proceed then? What was your first contact with your Jamaat? How did you seek it out? I then locally searched for Ahmadis. Yes, for the community. I was simply overwhelmed. Yes, that there are people who at the end of time actually exist and who follow the true footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). And then I immediately contacted the nearest community, the closest community, and then came into conversation with them and was a convert? No, that was then in Cologne. In Cologne. Exactly. I then made my way to Cologne. That day, I remember it very well, and the brother I met there is still very vivid in my memory. Alhamdulillah. And so we came into conversation. I of course immediately, when I found the website with the picture of the False Messiah al-Salam, immediately recognized for myself that this cannot be a liar and this must be the truth. In my heart already, Ahmadiyya had been accepted for me. Then there were the formalities and in 2011 then in Karlsruhe there was then the Bay'ah. And that was of course for me the highlight to board a ship that carries us. Yes, would you perhaps like to elaborate a little on these feelings during this Bay'ah ceremony with the Khalifa? Well, I do not know if I am so eloquent in my language to express this feeling, to describe it in words. When one grows up all those years in a family of father, mother, siblings, there are inconsistencies, then there are happy days, peaceful days, restless days. But when one sums up all these things in one's feeling, what one feels for the family, then one knows that one stands by one's family in every state. But as far as the Bay'ah is concerned and laying the Bay'ah also before Hazrat, the Khalifa of the time, that unites much more beyond what is familial. For there is probably hardly anyone who can say that in his family someone prays so sincerely and so honestly for him and desires such a relationship, as one also desires from a close friend, a close and from a close person. So I would not have enough words now to describe that. It is overwhelming that one can today lay one's hand on Hazrat Abu Bakr in person and take the oath of allegiance, can encounter a Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). While the Muslims out there are hoping for one who falls from the sky, he is before us and on the spot. And that is a blessing that I wish for everyone, not Ahmadis. Of course. And those who are Ahmadis should also appreciate what a gift that is for us, what we can hold on to in times, especially these, where we are now
to be. a very turbulent time, which however motivates us all the more to follow the example of the Khilafat and to continue carrying out and practicing our work in calmness and in peace. There are many people out there who are very restless due to the current situation. But when we listen to Hazrat, may Allah strengthen his hand, and encounter him, see him, then everything is somewhat more relaxed. Mhm. Mm. Because then we know what our work is, what is to be done. If we do not know what is to be done, then we are very often restless. But when we have certainty about our work, that it is in accordance with the guidance of God, then we are more relaxed. And this relaxation, this calmness, this peace I wish for everyone. For everyone. Amen. Yes, we hope that for everyone. Have you had to feel any pushback from your non-Ahmadi friends or family when you accepted the Ahmadiyya? Yes, I think that is completely normal that there is some pushback. I mean, religion has always been a sensitive topic, because religion has always had a bad reputation for oppression, was misunderstood, the teachings were misunderstood and very often were implemented incorrectly. This resistance, it is still present in one way or another, not only from family circles, but over the years through the development of the Fourth Caliph, may Allah be merciful to his soul. I remember a passage where it was spoken, where it is mentioned that a tailor cuts a beautiful piece of cloth, but from it brings forth something even more beautiful, sews it together. And cuts. And that is a parable that comes to mind to me right away, just to illustrate how wonderful it is for the truth to experience a certain kind of resistance or yes, resistance, but also to make sacrifices for it. It strengthens and motivates one and it also steadies one in every step, which is why I meet it with great joy. So resistance is nothing unusual, but a practice of God to strengthen us in our faith. Alhamdulillah. And that is a great joy and a signal. Yes, it is beautiful to also have this conviction, right? And also that one feels this strength, yes, that this resistance is not something negative. So from a worldly perspective, yes, but from a spiritual perspective it is even from God, that God wants to bring people closer, right? Have you in this time, after you accepted the Ahmadiyya, felt certain changes in yourself, in your character, in your demeanor, that you would perhaps like to describe? Yes, the urge for honesty, loyalty, for good treatment of one's fellow human beings. Before, one had rather isolated oneself, held back, but through this teaching, which one then sees in a new light, through the Promised Messiah and through the Khilafat, a completely new picture of religion emerges, a new God emerges. And this new God, who shines in a new light, of course has an effect on us in everyday life. In dealing with our family and a patience develops, especially against the bad, the false, the unhealthy. The relationship is like when Adam calls the primordial humans out of the caves and primeval forests to serve the one God and to make a driven human being into a civilized human being, to grow on the basis of civilized and moral conditions into a spiritual being. And with the acceptance of this Messenger, who also serves as a Warner, one develops a responsibility towards one's fellow human beings and this responsibility lets one walk through the world as a mature, awake person. This light that then enters is also connected with great responsibility, with great concern, because no person who is of sound mind and strives to build a relationship with their Creator can deny that when one tastes of this drink, it makes one inwardly restless. Restless not in the negative sense, but
restless in the sense that one wishes for all one's fellow human beings to quench their thirst. Why should one hide these things and keep them to oneself? I mean, at the end of this time, we are now all as Ahmadis on this ship, and before the flood comes, one naturally wishes that one or the other will be saved, those who still have a little openness, an open heart. Have an open heart. Exactly. That would now also be my last question or last, um, request to you, Gan. Um, many out there have this thirst, perhaps. Yes, and they are seeking this path. Yes, the format is also called The Path to the Light. They are on the path to the Light. They may still have certain prejudices, they may still have certain concerns, certain fears. What advice would you like to give them? Well, I am a very poor advisor. Uh, I, um, let me directly address the men. Um, because by my nature I am also a man. Every man has the obligation to bear responsibility and responsibility also towards himself. And a man is distinguished by the fact that he is ready to make sacrifices. And one should take the time, this sacrifice, take the time and engage with the Quran, for all good lies in the Quran. I can recommend to everyone's heart to read the Quran sincerely with full attention and to draw upon the writings of the White Messiah Alam as well as the writings of the Caliphs, in order to gain a deeper insight and to derive understanding from them. For only through these writings is one drawn to the truth. Because the truth is not something that simply falls into one's lap, but one must also strive in it. One must do something for it. Yes, do something for it. And we men in particular should have the courage not to judge someone for his work, but we men should have the courage to bear responsibility for ourselves and for those who are in our care, and to take the time to engage with oneself and one's life and the meaning of life. Life is no child's play. Life passes by very quickly. I mean, perhaps next year I will be 40 and perhaps I still have 40 summers left, and one already wants that these last 40 summers that are still remaining are spent in sincerity, in honesty, in humility, in truth. And a man, an honest, good, strong man is distinguished by what the Prophet s has shown us as an example, namely all these noble qualities. Therefore, no man and also no Ahmadi woman in that case, but also Muslim men and women should shy away from taking the time and intensively and without prejudice engaging with the topic of God and the end times and Ahmadiyya. Even born Ahmadis go through a process. Yes, I may not have been born as an Ahmadi, having joined later, but born Ahmadis also at some point go through a process where they are consciously aware of their cause, of their faith, and thus they also convert in the practical sense in the course of their lives to the faith. And therefore one must not underestimate it. Were beautiful words known. Thank you once again. I have to thank you, brother. Very, very warmly, that you took the time and also described your feelings here. Uh, dear listeners, you have seen, um, that the enemies of the Ahmadi Muslim Jamaat have always tried to harm the community and even go so far as to cause attacks on mosques, where up to 100 people lose their lives. But this by no means leads to the fact that the people or the Jamaat inflicts any harm or that the people become weak in their faith. Even the people who have lost their loved ones have become stronger in their faith. And on top of that, as brother Göckan also, many other, um, people and Muslims, but also non-Muslims, through such attacks on the community even
to join, which by no means leads to the detriment of the community, but rather further strengthens the community and serves as proof that the Ahmed Muslim Jamaat is truly genuine and truly guided by God. I also thank you very heartily for being here today and I look forward to your presence again in the next episode. Until then, as-salamu alaykum. Peace be with you.

In Köln. Genau. Mhm. Mm. Man muss dafür was tun. Ja, dafür was tun.
