Islamic guidance is a lifelong task in which the human being, of their own free will, must choose and follow the path shown by God, with the study of the Quran and trust in Allah being the means to this end.
Guidance means that the human being, of their own free will, chooses the path that Allah has shown them. The guidance comes from Allah, but the decision to follow it lies with the human being.
The text explains the Islamic concept of guidance (Hidaya) as a central concept: Allah shows human beings the right path and accompanies them along it. The guidance comes from God, but the decision to follow it lies in the free will of the human being. It is neither an inheritance nor a state once attained, but a lifelong task. The text calls for the study of the Quran, the following of the path of the Prophets, and trust in God. As a concrete reference to the present, the sermon mentions the preparation for the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Kurban) and the distribution of sacrificial meat to those in need in Turkey, particularly in earthquake-affected areas. The sermon concludes with a supplication attributed to the Prophet.

The Radiant Path of Islam: Guidance
(02.05.2025)
Beloved brothers and sisters! Honored believers!
One of the most important concepts in Islam is guidance. It means that Allah shows people the right path – and accompanies them on it.
Praise be to Allah: We are not alone on our journey through this world – the Dunya. We are not left to ourselves. We have a Creator who is closer to us than ourselves.[1] A Lord who gives our life meaning and purpose.[2] A God who is El-Hādī – that is, the One who guides.[3]
Honored believers!
Guidance means that a person freely chooses the path that Allah has shown him. The guidance comes from Allah, but the decision to follow it lies with the person. Reason and will are divine gifts – their proper use is our responsibility. That Allah has sent us scriptures and prophets is His grace – following them is our duty.
Brothers and sisters!
Guidance is not an inheritance that is passed on automatically. Even if someone is born into a Muslim family, that alone does not guarantee guidance.
Guidance is not a state that is accomplished all at once. Guidance is a state that is required for an entire lifetime. When we place ourselves in the presence of our Lord, we do not ask Him without reason in every "اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقٖيمَۙ" that He guide us to the straight path.[4]
To find the right path and follow it, one must read, research, and trust in Allah, the originator of this path. One should acquire the character of the Quran, which is the source of guidance.[5] One should follow the path of the prophets, who traversed this path in the most beautiful way.
Honored congregation!
There is still one month until the Festival of Sacrifice. As DITIB, we have begun preparations for the slaughter of sacrificial animals through authorization. In cooperation with the Turkish Diyanet Foundation, we will also this year distribute your entrusted sacrificial meat to those in need. The price for a Kurban share is 315 euros for the entire Turkey, above all for the earthquake-affected regions, while it is 125 euros for other countries and regions. Payment is possible in cash against receipt or online. May Allah accept our past and future donations!
I conclude my sermon with a supplication that the Prophet (s) taught his grandchildren: "O Allah, guide us to the straight path – together with those whom You have guided. Grant us well-being – together with those to whom You have granted it. And take us under Your protection – together with those whom You have protected."[6] (Amin)

Der leuchtende Weg des Islams: Die Rechtleitung
(02.05.2025)
Liebe Geschwister!
