True refuge in Buddhism does not consist in blind faith, but in the active, self-motivated effort to overcome one's own suffering through the dissolution of self-grasping and the development of compassion.

Refuge means that we seek protection. We seek protection until we are no longer affected by any cause of suffering. That is, until we have completely dissolved the causes of suffering in our continuum of mind.

The text explains the Buddhist practice of refuge as the active seeking of protection from the causes of suffering, with the motivation of personal liberation in the foreground. It warns against merely believing the teaching intellectually or mixing it with Christian concepts, as this would lead to a disingenuous practice. The speaker emphasizes the necessity of recognizing and dissolving one's own self-grasping and the mental poisons through compassion and mindfulness. Concrete everyday examples, such as engaging in quarrels or clinging to wishes, serve to illustrate the absurdity of the ego. The community is described as a place of mutual support, in which inattentive behavior disturbs the practice of others. It is called for to listen to the teachings respectfully and to integrate them into daily action, rather than treating them as mere information. The text concludes with the observation that the highest tantras are particularly suited in the present time to quickly attain liberation through the development of bodhicitta.

Good morning. It is somewhat later, I hear on a day, good evening. We begin with the refuge. And we should truly ensure and make it entirely clear regarding the refuge. Refuge means that we seek protection. We seek protection until we are no longer affected by any cause of suffering. That is, that we completely dissolve the causes of suffering in our karmic continuum. Therefore, we take refuge in, visit, and seek protection in that one who has attained full Buddhahood in a single lifetime. We take refuge in that one who has walked the path, in that one who knows the path. We take refuge in his teachings, in which he explains to us precisely what the causes of suffering are and how to overcome suffering. And he always urged his disciples not to believe in Buddhism, because at that time there was no Buddhism. He said that people should verify everything he teaches in their own mind. And if they then make the experience, they should pass it on. We take refuge in the community, because in the community, when one practices together, when each person accumulates their share of merit, and when many come together and engage in an honest, sincere practice, then many have merit. If we sit in the community of practitioners with a dishonest motivation and practice there, then we bring destructive, conflicting, and painful energies for every individual practitioner who participates somewhere in a large community. Then the entire practice we engage in is insincere and it cannot lead to any fruit. And therefore, we always begin the teaching with the refuge, with the true inner being moved, I do not want to suffer anymore. And there is an I-centeredness in it, it is necessary that we truly overcome the causes of suffering. And not that we do Christian Samaritanism and so, that we want to be something like a Catholic saint who once did a great, holy thing somewhere, but it is about only one who can see oneself, and then show others the way. So if at the beginning with the refuge we have the egoistic view of overcoming the causes of suffering in one’s own mind, then we know who sees how suffering arises and then we can lead others on this path. And if we then lead them on this path and they quasi come towards us and we lead them, then we do not lead them astray. What happens with us in the West is that we do not free ourselves from belief. We believe in these things, but belief simply means, it can be or it cannot be and is actually irrelevant. We get through life by believing in Buddhism. If we do that, then we are always ready again to simply stir up the life of the council of existence. And then, although we have taken refuge, participated in high vows, if we do not ground our mind on the four fundamental thoughts, we will definitely be reborn again in lower realms of existence. And that is not the purpose of the Buddha’s teaching. The purpose of the Buddha’s teaching is to overcome suffering in one’s own mind. And when we take refuge, then we take refuge in perceiving which mistaken views, which mental poisons we have in us and we look to work on them in ourselves and not constantly point the finger at the neighbor, poke around in the nose of the other. And as I said today in England, the people, this is not my cup of tea. I would say, this is not your cup of tea. Always telling other people what one thinks, one must say something. And therefore we say, until enlightenment I take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. May I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all beings, through the merits of my practice of Freiburgibblichkeit and the other Transcendental virtues. For this path to be quick and fruitful and truly as it is stated in the Vajrayana, it is the journey, whereby, if it is Kriya Tantra, then I believe it takes 16 or 18 lifetimes until one attains liberation. If it is the Father-Mother Tantra, then it takes eight lifetimes, and not all, I believe, one or two lifetimes. And then, when it comes to this highest Tantra, where it concerns Mahamudra Mahatika and Sokshin Sokshin Mahamudra Mahatika, then that one can overcome suffering in a single lifetime. Why is it precisely in our present time that these last teachings lead us most quickly to liberation? For this we need bodhicitta. We cannot attain liberation if we do not have compassion. Compassion means that we first and foremost have compassion for ourselves. Compassion means that I see my weaknesses, that I see my abysses, that I see my excuses. Only when I see them can I let them go. That is why it is so important to apply compassion to ourselves. Because if we do not do this, we are constantly focused on the faults of others. But the faults of others are our own faults. They are our faults. They are not the faults of others that we see in others. What triggers us is that precisely the faults that others have, we ourselves have. And therefore, if we now say, the Bodhisattva Prayer: May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness. May they be free from suffering and the causes of suffering. May they not be separated from true happiness, which is without cause. May they abide in great equanimity, free from attachment to what one likes and aversion to what one dislikes. If we recite this, then it simply means. I can no longer argue with my partner or partner, with my neighbor. It simply no longer works, if I take this seriously. But since we regard this only as one possibility and well, there is the Christian-Chinese, dear Bodhisattva, this is something similar and Jesus was also a Bodhisattva. And then we relativize any instruction. And we must see that we are moved by the contents. I was never a spiritual person. And I was never an intellectual. For many, many lifetimes I was never in any way intellectual. As a day-laborer one is good for nothing, you are not intellectual. You look to see that you get by and then get stuff. And when this teaching encountered me, it encountered me in such a way that I saw the practical, useful aspect in it, what is useful to me now. The day-laborer and good-for-nothing always looks to get what he needs now. Not what he might someday be able to tell someone. But he looks to see that he gets by. And that is why there is even something where one can say, if it is said that he is close to heaven, what are the children? They are unprejudiced and they have no fixed concepts. We should simply let go of our concepts. Let us take this together. May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness. May they be free from suffering and the causes of suffering. May they not be separated from true happiness, which is without cause. May they abide in great equanimity, free from attachment to what one likes and aversion to what one dislikes. The basic understanding of all the situations we have, we have put on an egoistic, I-centered armor. Even if I say certain things, I hear now, then people tell me, the board has decided, so if I give teachings, then we do not need to come earlier with that, only when the Lama comes. Then we sit together and are earlier at breakfast, but Haus is not a Lama. They were teachers back then, but we only do that with the Lama. That is the same problem as with the flowers in front of the drum. I need the flowers. We must develop sharpness in our mind, otherwise what I am saying here, I am producing sounds. And these sounds then only have an impact on the people in the podcast. It must also have an impact on the people who are here in the place, so that they are moved by it, so that they are carried away by it. And I am happy to do any kind of dirty work. But that does not mean that the teaching I give does not have at least the same status as the teaching a Lama gives here. And where I said it would be nice if we would sit together in the morning and meditate, then one can exchange. That one does not necessarily always have to be the people in the podcast, that they do not have to know every detail, where is the butter, where is the cream. That is wasted time. So when we listen to this teaching, what is the important thing? That we always, when we listen to teaching, have respect and reverence for the teaching, that we listen to the teaching, that we incorporate it into our life, that for example something we need, where there is a real lack, is mindfulness. That we are mindful of what is happening. And I do not know whether at some point in the last few days, since the Zen Buddhists have left, whether anyone has been upstairs. Well, and there and there someone is upstairs. Today I accommodated the one with the soft head and Yves, she carried the two sparkling water crates into the cellar yesterday. It is always the very small things. For example yesterday, where the windows are, there were broken screws and metal parts lying around. I clear them away and bring them to the garden. That we learn, for example, it would be nice if Peter would sit here, the others would sit here, that we talk there, what is mindfulness practice? Mindfulness practice, people do like Vipassana and mindfulness courses. What is Vipassana and mindfulness courses? It simply means, the first is, you practice mental calm, that your mind settles down. And the second is that you observe where the thoughts come from, where they go. And the more you come to the thoughts, the more your mind settles. But if you then do not have a key teaching, that it is about letting go of our self-fixation, knowing that the I is only a single sentence. That is really only a sentence. Yes, I am out. More is my I not. And this one sentence screams after, I want beer, I want sex, I want music, I want cinema, I want, I want, I want. Only the one sentence, we must only be aware of this. I am not returned, I am not praised, I am not noticed. Always it is the other, always the other gets. And the other always gets. That is, because that is all only, only arises from the thought-sentence that we cling to, I. But that is only a thought. And the question is, if I say, I, if I now say, I want alcohol, then Peter runs, gets me a bottle of beer from the storage, then I drink a bottle of alcohol. And then I say, I want sex, and then the other comes, calls a number and then a woman arrives with a limousine and then I go into the room and have sex. I would like to have cinema. Then we turn on the projector, connect it to Netflix or something and then I watch from the big, no, one has more a film on. I bring these examples so that you see how absurd this is, I want. And where we in us at I want, constantly from the others I want, is, demand that the others I want serves my I want. And the more we demand that, the more we suffer and we demand from the resources of the others that our wishes are fulfilled. I have heard that it, I only mention this here, I do not go into detail. I have heard, there are such people, there would be the possibility that a human could live a thousand years. That it would be technically somehow possible and that one searches for it. And there in Billionaires invest an insane amount of money in this idea. And it is only, what they say, I want. I want to be the journey. I want to keep that. I want that. And all the time they have, that I want, I, the, these billionaires, all the time he is afraid of losing everything. He has seen before him how many billionaires in his own family have died, from whom he has had that. All these I wants have died and he does not know where they have gone. The act of taking, it is not that he suddenly filled a suitcase full of gold, that they took the suitcase along into the next life. If we do not become aware of that, if we do not constantly monitor that, then we always have, like a creeping snake, that always a little poisons us from behind. This sentence, I want, always a little poisons us. And sometimes it is so, when then this I want reaches the point where I imagine to myself that I am incredibly good at something, then poisons our, then pride arises and when pride comes, we become blind. We shut down. If then something is said, we shut down and then withdraw further. Pride is truly, in our society the most dangerous thing, is pride. Because that, what we have just achieved, think about it, it is said, there have already been as many Buddhas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges and if I now imagine, I am not yet my Buddha and I can a little something under enlightenment and would then imagine, oh, you are a tantric, you are an all-japa. What do I have? Can I manipulate the elements? No. Can I fly through the air? No. The only thing I can truly do and truly know, I know exactly where the gate is out of suffering. Because the fundamental suffering is gone in me. I have had a lot of pain in recent years, again and again pain, but internally always happy. Also when I was totally flat after the consecration, internally I am happy. Why am I internally happy? Because I know, all that suffering that I experience, the causes lie in my painful actions from previous existences. Therefore, when the suffering is over, that, that, what this painful action has not done, that is over. Do you understand how precious that is? That is totally precious. Every pain, every suffering that we have, not to complain, but to say, if I now this, that does not mean that one takes a hammer and hits oneself on the hand and says, thereby I would work off my karma. No, I create new karma thereby, because then I cannot, then I can act less wholesomely and help others, okay? That is, when we become ill, when we have infirmities, when somewhere something constantly hurts, constantly have headaches, or something, then there is no reason to complain. If we do not have a Buddhist teaching, then I admit everyone, except in the depth of his heart to complain and if I then would go after, I would say, try to look at the pain with distance, that the body in the body finds, that happens. And that is a process, if we have a body. Perhaps try to find a little distance, that the pain is not so intense anymore. That is a technique that works. Therefore here once BMSR, Body Mind Stretch Reduction, left there arose, from that zinc cobalt, or what is called, your America, to help people in the hospital. And what do you do with it now? There the people go around with it and earn money with a duty piece from the teaching of the Buddha. If you die, they must everything, what you from the Dharma, and that is the law of cause and effect and karma, what you simply earn money thereby, that you empty lumps from Buddhism and these lumps are broken, you must pay back all of that. Those are debts that you to the teaching of the Buddha have. Because the teaching of the Buddha has only the purpose of healing and helping other people. The teaching of the Buddha does not have the purpose that anyone enriches themselves. And if one says, yes, but the monks in the monasteries and the nuns, they do nothing, they are just there and then they eat up the offerings and so on. As long as we see monks and nuns, as long as the teaching of the Buddha is somewhere, then one can go the path out of suffering somewhere. If there are no more monks and nuns, then you no longer see them. Therefore, householders have a lesser utility for society. But we only have householders in Buddhism mainly. Therefore, when a lama comes, the most important and most precious thing about the lama is, first of all, the robe he wears. He shows with the robe that there is a path out of suffering. The second precious thing about the lama is that he has the technique and the contents of all the practices that are necessary to overcome all karmic veils in one’s own mind very quickly, very powerfully. Now the lamas sit there and have been giving instruction for decades in Germany, in Europe, in America everywhere, and normally a Buddhist community should be happy and cheerful, helpful, friendly towards everyone. If dirt falls somewhere, one would immediately pick it up. It would simply be a factory of bliss. Because, hey, you know, if you apply it, cut! Then there is no more suffering, if you really apply it. Is that not what we all want? Is it not what we want, that we no longer want to suffer? Is it not only about this, when as a child we saw a toy at someone else’s place? There we had the mom, dad, that Bastian there, he got the toy from his parents. I would also like to have that. Then we suffer because we do not have the toy. Then maybe mom and dad are so rich and can then also get the toy. But mom and dad are even so rich that we get a bigger toy than Bastian. And then we go to Bastian and say, Bah, bah, I have a bigger toy than you. And then I was proud. What is important is that the fingers scratch in the sand. And then the question is how we sell our toy. Some rich person gets some very nice toy as a gift. And there is such a poor boy who is scratching in the sand and playing with water and with everything possible. And he asks, what do you have there? Then he says, do you not see? This here is a boat, it floats on the water. And then later, yes, what are you doing there? Do you not see, that is a spaceship. It flies around. See, now I fly past the stars with it. And at some point, through this enthusiasm for the piece of wood, for this fantasy, the rich person exchanges his expensive toy for the lump of wood. That is capitalism. That is how it works. We are constantly told what nonsense we need for ourselves. When this here with the bath started for me, we had so much... Oh, it is quite complicated, caring for such a bath. I have the bath and then I think, what is complicated there? If I have hair up there and hair here, then I know that and that. There is no more of that. Yes, because that is terrible if one has dandruff. One needs a little dandruff with the bath, because if the bath and then dandruff falls down, that is disgusting. I talk myself into believing that it is disgusting. If an old man has a bath and there is a black shaving chain, something should actually happen. I have full... I have dripped here, what I then do when eating. Then you have a spotted arm. I have the hands away, I have forgotten that anew. And then you have some white dots on your shaving chain somehow. That is how they are gone. But we are told that we need something for it. Then we have a skin irritation. Yes, then you still need something. The skin irritation existed before not, as it has not yet been implemented. Then you buy it. It is the same with the wood, with the car. This happens when we lack mindfulness. What do we learn in the teaching of the Buddha? When we apply the teaching of the Buddha, we learn this. To have mindfulness in our own mind. For example, to be happy and joyful and glad all the time internally, and to know how rich we are when we have the teaching of the Buddha. Unfortunately, I see my sister now in two weeks; I will meet her in Berlin. They had a lot of money, traveled a lot around the world. We have never experienced so many happy moments as I have. Never. The airplane, right. Quickly then there, then take photos here, then this sensation. And then in the heat and in the cold. That is only an idea, when you say you have seen the whole thing in the world, that this forms you. It does not form you. It simply creates new concepts, new cravings. Yes, I also have cravings. If billions came to me here now, I would build a Buddhist school. I would build a Buddhist kindergarten. I would build a Buddhist hospital. It would be a hospital where only natural healing methods, only things from Tibetan medicine are used. And if one says that they cannot treat it then, one would say, okay, then I can transfer to another hospital. But if I had the money, I would also build that. The military, who try to kill people with vaccinations, what is going on there, has caused so many deaths. And it is confirmed in the RKF, if it is stated there. They knew from the beginning that it does not work at al

Guten Morgen. Und wie habe ich heute in England gesagt, die Leute, this is not my cup of tea. Ich würde sagen, this is not your cup of tea. Was habe ich denn drauf? Kann ich die Elemente manipulieren? Nein. Kann ich durch die Luft fliegen? Nein. Und was machen Sie jetzt damit? Ja, dann brauchst du noch was. Die Hautirritation gab es vorher nicht, a
