True wisdom does not consist in the mere possession of information, but in the deep knowledge of Islam and the consistent implementation of this knowledge in God-conscious, character-driven action.

For knowledge of Islam stands above all else. Our Prophet (s) said: "The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others."

The text is a sermon (khutbah) for the beginning of the new school year, addressed to Muslims. It emphasizes that education should go beyond mere transmission of knowledge and lead to character formation and service to society. At its center is the claim that knowledge of Islam and the study of the Quran stand above all other disciplines. The Prophet Muhammad is presented as a mercy that purifies and teaches the believers. Wisdom is defined as the implementation of knowledge in deeds and orientation toward Allah's satisfaction. The text calls for sending children to mosques and educational centers and for continuously deepening one's own religious knowledge. It concludes with a dua that warns against useless knowledge and an insatiable ego.

Dear Muslims! A new school and academic year is about to begin. May Allah grant our children and youth, as well as all those who strive for knowledge, much success, ease in learning, and good results. Education should not only convey knowledge to us. Education should also make us people of good character, lead us to good deeds, and help us serve society. This includes, above all, properly getting to know the Quran and our noble faith, Islam. For knowledge about Islam stands above all else. Our Prophet (s) said: “The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others.” [1] No matter what we learn or study: The Quran and knowledge about our faith should always be at the center of our lives. For when we properly get to know Islam and implement what we have learned in daily life, we find peace in this world and eternal salvation in the Hereafter. In the Quran, Allah says: “Allah has certainly bestowed a great favor upon the believers by sending to them a Messenger from among themselves, who recites to them His verses, purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom. Before that, they were clearly in error.” [2] Our Prophet (s) was sent to us as a mercy to teach us the Quran and wisdom. Through this knowledge, we learn to be human, to stay away from evil, and to purify our hearts. Above all, we learn to live our lives in a way that pleases Allah. The Quran helps us develop good character, do good, and live with God-consciousness. Beloved brothers and sisters! Wisdom helps a person to distinguish between right and wrong. Wisdom means knowing Allah’s decrees and the beauties of Islam. It also means understanding the mercy and benefit of His commands. A wise person is not just someone who knows a lot. Wise is the one who also puts his knowledge into practice. A wise person tells the truth, acts thoughtfully, and in everything pays attention to Allah’s pleasure. Wisdom is therefore not merely theory. It is a light that carries our knowledge into life, makes us more mature, and beautifies our character. In the Quran, Allah asks: “Are those who know equal to those who do not know?” [3] In this Quranic verse, Allah praises the Muslim who knows his religion and lives according to his knowledge. At the same time, He motivates us to seek knowledge. In order to be able to perform our daily prayers correctly, we must be able to read the Quran correctly. And for our Iman to become stronger, we need reliable knowledge about Islam. Therefore, we should enroll our children in classes at our mosques and educational centers. Let us encourage them to regularly participate in these offerings. But we ourselves should also continue to learn, no matter how old we are. Let us strive to close our gaps in knowledge regarding religious matters and continue to develop ourselves. For Islam considers the seeking of knowledge a fundamental task for every Muslim woman and man. Let us conclude our Khutbah with this beautiful Dua of our Prophet (s): “O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowledge that brings no benefit, from a heart that feels no awe, from a self that is never satisfied, and from a Dua that is not accepted.” [4] Amen! Verehrte Muslime! “ [4] Amin!
