Eternal life is found through the preservation of faith and humility, which lead to God's mercy and help.
O humble person, do you wish to find eternal life? Preserve faith and humility within you; for through them you will find the mercy and the help of God.
The text is a collection of short excerpts from sermons, speeches, and biblical exegesis by various saints and elders of the Orthodox tradition. The contributions deal with topics such as humility, faith, envy, providence, honor, and repentance. Several sections quote directly from the Book of Job and present the dialogues between Job and his friends. Other texts contain practical advice for monastic and spiritual life. The excerpts are edited by Stelios Koukos and come from various sources such as ascetic discourses and sermons. There is no continuous narrative thread, but rather a thematic compilation. The text is directed at believers seeking spiritual instruction. The messages emphasize inner disposition, fear of God, and ethical conduct.
