The deliberate destruction of existing bonds out of desire generates painful karma, while the patient cultivation of long-standing, trusting relationships heals the soul and endures beyond death.
The text is an episode of the podcast 'Compassionate Buddha', in which Abbot Gaktok reads a daily reminder from the Popsinem Jikwang on 'Relationship Karma'. The central message is that the deliberate breaking of existing partnerships through jealousy or desire for new relationships generates painful karma that returns as disappointment. It warns against separating other people from oneself in order to fulfil one's own wishes, as this hinders one's own spiritual development. Instead, the nurturing of long-standing bonds, whether in partnership or in friendship, is presented as precious and healing. Such relationships, which are based on trust and care, outlast physical ageing and are considered particularly valuable, as they can also persist in future lives. The text emphasises that true love is strengthened through promises and patience, while greed and ignorance caused by the desire of young people bring about suffering. The listeners are encouraged to recognise and nurture the preciousness of their existing, familiar relationships.

Hello, welcome. I am very happy that you are here on the podcast Compassionate Buddha, your podcast for love and world crisis. I am Danielle Sitzki with the Dama named Gaktok. I am the Abbot of the University Center Hamburg-Junger Dama-Sah of the University of the World, Social Buddhism. In this episode, you can hear a daily reminder from Supreme Matriarchitekwangler-Popsinem about Relationship Karma. You have good scenes. Daily Feregrins of the Lotus Flower by Jikwang the Popsinem, 12.439, June 30, 2026, Lotus Buddhist Monastery. Among the various karmas, Relationship Karma always makes itself very painful. Furthermore, what karma is made is that the people who have broken the family make themselves uncomfortable. That is why Sukamuni Buddha has always said that we do not have to break other people from us. Among the people who break the vows of the Maritze, there is Relationship Karma. So we do not have to break other families from us. That is the way we save ourselves. By breaking apart someone's partnership because of our love and desire to enter that negative relationship, that karma returns to us in the form of many disappointments. As time goes by, it sometimes seems that the love between those who used to love each other is not there anymore. However, when the love is kept alive with promises made to each other, we know more about ourselves and value our partners or the more. So we realize how precious our relationships are, enabling us to live better lives. As we get older, the face gets wrinkled and the body no longer functions as it did when we were young. Yet harboring greed and desire when seeing a young person leads to much ignorance. This is the reason why, in contrast, even though it may not be a partnership, even a long and enduring friendship with anyone we know is a most precious connection. When we have a long standing connection, this means we truly trust, care for and benefit each other. That explains why being together in such a relationship is most precious, not only in this life but continuing in the next life too. So they always meet, trust and believe in each other. For that reason, such bonds are most special. Even when our body is uncomfortable, whoever truly cares for and helps us, builds the most precious relationship with us. Thank you very much, Dikwangnapopsinum. Thank you very much for listening and thank you very much, Dikwangnapopsinum. I wish you a fabulous next week, yours in the Dharma, Gagdok.
