A person is not made valuable by their gender or outward appearance, but by their effort, their deeds, and their sense of responsibility before God, and they should share their wealth and remain humble.
Do not forget that in this life you are only stewards! Do not be arrogant, do not transgress the limits! Heed these warnings, do not deny the truth, and do not throw yourselves into the fire!
The text is a Friday sermon by DITIB that is based on Sura Layl (Quran 92). It calls on the faithful to use the month of Rajab as preparation for Ramadan and to learn the Quran in its original language. Messages from the Surah Al-Layl
(10.01.2025)
We have left behind one-third of the blessed month of Rajab. Time flies by. Day by day, we are approaching the spiritual pull of Ramadan, the month of the Quran. May Allah bless our lives through the good deeds we perform in these months and allow us to reach Ramadan, the month of mercy, once again.
Brothers and sisters! Esteemed believers!
The month of Rajab is the month of sowing. In this month, we should sow as many seeds of goodness and beauty in our hearts as we can. We should strive to prepare our days for the days of Ramadan and our nights for the nights of Ramadan. If we do not know how to read the Quran, let us learn from today onwards, without wasting time. While we endeavor to read the noble Quran in its original language, in which it was revealed, as well and beautifully as possible, we should not deprive ourselves of the merciful messages of the Quran. Let us not forget that the Holy Quran is a book of admonition and instruction, and that we will be held accountable for it.[1]
Dear believers!
One of the surahs that contains many admonitions and pieces of advice is the Surah Al-Layl. “Layl” means “night”. It was revealed during the Meccan period. The surah points to the balance and harmony in nature by addressing opposing concepts such as day and night, man and woman, generous and stingy, sensitive and irresponsible, true and false, easy and difficult, this world and the Hereafter: “By the night when it covers, and by the day when it appears, and by He Who created male and female! Indeed, your striving is diverse.”[2] The first verses of the surah call out to us the following messages: O human! The day will be your witness, use your days well! The night will be your witness, use your nights well! O human! Do not forget that it is not your gender that makes you valuable in the sight of your Lord, but your effort, your zeal, and your deeds. It is not the differences in your outward appearance that make you valuable, but the sense of responsibility you demonstrate.
In the continuation of the Surah Al-Layl, our Lord, the Exalted, gives the following advice to those who wish to walk the path of good: Be generous, share your means! Beware of false deeds! Believe that your good deeds will be rewarded with a good reward! If your wealth is to benefit you, then share it with others and do not be stingy! Do not rely on your gifts and do not believe that you are in safety! Do not deny the beauties and do not make the path to Paradise difficult for yourselves![3]
Indicating the right path belongs to Allah. Strive to progress on this right path. Both this world and the Hereafter belong to Allah. Do not consider this world as your own! Do not forget that in this life you are only stewards! Do not be arrogant, do not transgress the limits! Heed these warnings, do not deny the truth, and do not throw yourselves into the fire![4] Spend a portion of your earnings in the cause of Allah, in order to purify both your wealth and yourselves! Do good without expecting anything in return! Perform your good deeds solely for the sake of Allah, and you will ultimately attain a life with which you are satisfied![5]
I would like to conclude my sermon with a supplication of our Prophet: “O Allah, increase Your blessings and do not decrease them. Elevate us and do not humble us! Give us from Your blessings and do not exclude us from them! Be benevolent towards us and do not be against us! Be pleased with us and elevate us to the degree of being pleased with You!”[6] (Amin)

Botschaften aus der Sure Leyl
(10.01.2025)
