Ahmadi women have possessed true freedom and equality through Islam for over 1400 years, which goes beyond the women's rights defined by Western societies, and they are to prove the strength of their faith through patience, obedience, and self-sacrifice.
The text is an address by the Fifth Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to the women and girls of the Lajna Imaillah at the National Ijtema. It emphasises that the founding of the Lajna Imaillah as an independent sub-organisation was a gift from the Musleh Maud so that Ahmadi women could independently build a relationship with God. The text distances itself from Western women's rights movements, which are portrayed as hollow gestures or driven by self-interest, and claims that Islam established women's rights more than 1400 years ago. Central demands are steadfast remembrance of Allah, obedience to the commandments, patience in trials, and obedience to the administrative system of the Jamaat. A Quranic verse (Surah 33, verse 36) is cited, which lists the same virtues for men and women. The text encourages the listeners to make sacrifices and to direct their eyes toward the Hereafter, and promises divine reward for steadfastness.

After reciting Taschahhud, Ta`awwuz, and the Surah al-Fatiha, Hadhrat Khalifa-tul-Masih V (aba) said:
"By the grace of Allah, you have all gathered here at the National Ijtema to improve your intellectual, moral, and spiritual capabilities and levels. Undoubtedly, the establishment of the Lajna Imaillah as an independent sub-organization was a profound gift and a favor from Hadhrat Musleh Maud (ra) for Ahmadi women and girls.
He established the Lajna so that Ahmadi women and girls can independently strive to build a relationship with God and their faith – free from the influence or shadow of men. It was founded to promote and guide them so that they can become beacons of virtue and excellence and so that their piety, knowledge, and boundless potential may illuminate the world.
We live in a time when the call for women's rights has become fashionable in the West. Women, who were traditionally dismissed by these societies as weak and fragile, are now raising their voices to claim those rights that were previously denied to them. Within the framework of modern trends, men now identify themselves as feminists and claim to grant or bestow rights and equality upon women.
However, such proclamations are often merely hollow gestures or fashionable poses, rather than a sincere commitment to the empowerment of women and girls.
As certain female intellectuals have pointed out, hidden self-interests often lie behind the demand for women's rights and freedoms. These modern movements are frequently driven by selfish motives, not by love, compassion, or a genuine desire for equality.
In contrast, Ahmadi women can proudly proclaim to the world that Islam enshrined their rights and freedoms more than 1400 years ago. They do not need a man to grant them rights or equality, for Allah Himself has honored them with true freedom, justice, and equality.
Moreover, Ahmadi women can proudly declare that they do not need rights or freedoms as defined by worldly people or the men of this era. Rather, they desire and need those freedoms and rights that were defined by Allah and His Messenger (saw).
Indeed, Allah placed men and women side by side over fourteen centuries ago and affirmed that a woman's heart beats no less with emotions and feelings than a man's. He commanded that the rights and dignity of a woman must never be violated, nor must they ever be subjected to injustice or cruelty. Any man who denies a woman her due rights is guilty in the eyes of God and will be held accountable by Him.
While Allah has granted women countless rights and equality, He has also established obligations that you must fulfill. It is often said that rights come with duties, and Islam fully affirms this principle. Therefore, Allah demands of you to be righteous, to perform good deeds, and to act according to the teachings of Islam at all times. Only then will you be worthy of His rewards.
In the Holy Qur'an, Allah outlines the principles of righteousness for men and women. Sometimes He addresses the believers collectively, while at other times He speaks to believing men and believing women separately about their religious duties. Above all, Allah explains that an individual – whether man or woman – can only have true faith if he or she diligently follows His commands.
Furthermore, everyone is equally rewarded for their good deeds, without discrimination. Thus, Allah, the Almighty, explains in Surah 33, Verse 36 of the Holy Qur'an:
The translation reads:
"Indeed, the Muslim men and the Muslim women, the believing men and the believing women, the obedient men and the obedient women, the truthful men and the truthful women, the patient men and the patient women, the humble men and the humble women, the men who give alms and the women who give alms, the men who fast and the women who fast, the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard their chastity, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who remember Him – Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward."
In this verse, Allah prescribes the same righteous deeds for men and women in order to attain the rank of a believer. Furthermore, you, as Ahmadi women, if you act according to these commandments, will not only reform yourselves but also produce righteous fathers, husbands, brothers, and sons. You will be those who cleanse and free society from the conflicts and turbulence that grip it today.
Always remember that attaining a great goal requires sacrifice. The greater the goal, the greater the required sacrifice. Therefore, every Ahmadi woman and girl must constantly strive to improve her spiritual and moral state. Only then can you act according to the commandments of Allah.
The verse I quoted describes nine qualities that a believing Muslim woman (Mumina) should possess. She must be firm in faith and fully submit to Allah, obey Him, and always show truthfulness and patience.
A believing woman must be humble. She must give Sadaqa [1] and spend in the way of Allah. She is urged to fast, to maintain her modesty and chastity, and to remember Allah at all times. Allah has promised His forgiveness and rewards for those who exhibit these virtues.
So, in your daily life, remember that this world is not your ultimate goal.
Often, girls or women share their worries and difficulties with me and ask why they do not see immediate results from their good deeds and prayers. Without a doubt, Allah has promised to reward all righteous deeds and sincere prayers. However, some rewards require patience and are granted at their appointed time, either in this life or in the Hereafter.
As I mentioned, true believers do not consider this world to be everything. Instead, their eyes are directed toward the eternal life in the Hereafter. So, if you are steadfast in your faith and uphold the moral values that Allah has prescribed, He will bless and reward you in a way that far exceeds your imagination or understanding.
In this sense, I will now briefly outline the moral values that a believing woman should embody. Allah wishes for us to strive to perfect our faith and to live as true Muslims. It is not enough to merely verbally profess the Kalima [2] (Declaration of Faith). Instead, there must be a deep conviction in your heart to fulfill every command of Allah. Regrettably, many who claim to have faith show impatience when confronted with trials. They quickly complain that their prayers have not been answered immediately. What use is such weak faith?
Allah loves His people very much, but in return He demands of us that we maintain an unwavering faith in Him, both in good times and in difficult times, instead of doubting His presence whenever hardships arise.
Therefore, no matter what adversities a believing person goes through, their faith in Allah must never become weak, nor must they ever harbor resentment against God. Always remember that Allah is the Lord of all worlds, who has granted each of us countless blessings since the moment of our conception. When we remember this grace, we will never be inclined to complain or feel that we have been treated unjustly. Instead, we will patiently and willingly endure all temporary hardships for His sake. And when we remain steadfast in the face of adversity solely for Allah's sake, He will reward us immeasurably.
To truly follow the teachings of Islam and to strengthen our faith, it is essential that every Ahmadi Muslim woman regularly recites the Holy Qur'an, strives to understand its meaning, and lives according to its holy guidance. Unfortunately, even within our Jamaat, many fail to give the Word of God the attention it deserves.
In Surah al-Baqara, verse 187, Allah says:
"So let them respond to Me and believe in Me."
Here Allah commands us to listen to Him and to strengthen our faith in Him. As I just said, the primary method of strengthening faith is the study of the Holy Qur'an, identifying and reflecting upon His commands – over 700 in number – and sincerely striving to act upon them. We must obey everything Allah commands and avoid everything He forbids. Only then will our faith be firmly established, and only then will we become rightful heirs of His blessings and His mercy.
Among young people there is a trend of saying: "I have been praying for a while, and nothing has happened." They do not recognize the paradox that, while they complain about trials and unanswered prayers, they are the ones who fail to observe Allah's commands. But those with true faith recognize that the fault lies with themselves. Therefore, every Ahmadi must raise the standard of their faith and their prayers.
To achieve this, constantly reflect upon the promise you make at Lajna events. Be assured: if you fulfill your promise and perfect your faith for Allah's sake, the heavens will open and His blessings will rain down upon you. Alhamdulillah [3], many Ahmadi women sincerely keep their promise and consequently become recipients of Allah's rewards.
In my Friday sermons and other addresses, I have often mentioned how Ahmadi women are at the forefront when it comes to demonstrating their faith and making immense sacrifices. I have narrated numerous incidents of women who often live in remote and difficult circumstances and who, guided by their unshakeable faith, make remarkable sacrifices. In return, Allah always rewards them in manifold ways. So if you are determined to be ready for every possible sacrifice, then be assured that Allah will never leave you empty-handed. Instead, He will shower you abundantly with His rewards.
After the development of a firm faith in Him, Allah says that it is also essential that believing women obey Him. Therefore, you as Ahmadi women must learn the commandments of Allah and strive to implement them in your lives. Likewise, you must be completely obedient to the administrative system of the Jamaat, the Nizam, and cooperate with it in every respect.
Remember that the Lajna Imaillah was founded for the moral and spiritual elevation of Ahmadi women and girls so that they may realize that they have a true identity and a true worth within our Jamaat. To preserve the honour and dignity of the Lajna and the Jamaat, you must embrace this identity and strive to affirm its beauty and distinctiveness.
The Lajna regularly organizes programs for moral and spiritual training, and the women and girls who participate in them find that their spiritual and intellectual level improves. Therefore, you should all try to participate in every program organized by the Lajna with a spirit of obedience and a desire for moral and spiritual progress.
Furthermore, the mothers among you and those who will soon become mothers – Inshallah [4] – must never forget the great responsibility that rests on your shoulders. You are not only responsible for your own state, but also for your children and the future generations. If you accept this duty and follow the commandments of Allah, your reward will be multiplied. For by reforming yourselves, you also promote good in your children and ensure that the moral and spiritual values of Islam continue to be passed on from generation to generation.
Many of you will have heard the Hadith [5] in which the Holy Prophet (saw) says that a person should wish for others what he wishes for himself. So if you want your prayers to be answered and you strive to uphold the highest moral values, you should spread these qualities among your children, siblings, and in society in general.
Another fundamental quality of a believing woman is honesty. Women who have perfect faith always speak the truth. When a woman recognizes her obligation to be honest and avoids lying, she embarks upon a spiritual Jihad. This Jihad not only purifies her from all forms of Shirk, that is, associating other gods with Allah, but also sets a strong example for her children and others in society and teaches them to abhor lying and to reject idolatry. Indeed, a person who upholds the truth and promotes it in others plays a key role in revealing the beauty in society.
Therefore, never forget that Allah has declared that lying is a form of Shirk. There is no "small" or "harmless" lie. A so-called "trivial" lie inevitably leads to greater ones, as a person attempts to cover up previous untruths.
In fact, falsehood is the malicious key that opens the door to discord and disagreement and undermines the foundations of home and community alike. Since the next generation of Ahmadis is being raised in your lap, it is essential that you always lead by the example of truth. When mothers express to me their concerns about raising children in an un-Islamic Western environment and ask how they can best guide them rightly, my answer is always the same; that parents must be the best possible role model for their children.
When parents are pious, God-fearing and live according to the teachings of Islam, their children will naturally learn from them.
Young children, especially in their early years, spend more time with their mothers than with anyone else. They take on what they see in their mothers and consider it right. Therefore, Ahmadi mothers have a great responsibility to free society from idolatry and to establish truth and piety. If you want your children and future generations to be preserved from materialistic and godless influences and to uphold the truth, you must guide them through your own example.
Likewise, the Lajna Imaillah should initiate and lead a campaign at the collective level to promote truth and integrity in society. The fundamental importance of truth is demonstrated by the fact that one of the Qur'an verses that is recited during the Nikah (Islamic marriage ceremony) instructs the believers to speak the right and honest word, free from any ambiguity. Surely the fact that Allah has declared lying to be a form of Shirk (idolatry) should be sufficient for every Ahmadi to recognize the necessity of being honest at all times.
In fact, the standard of truth that is required is an absolute one. A person must not say or do anything that carries even the slightest appearance of untruth. For example, it is narrated that a woman once called her little son to her and promised him something from her hand. Thereupon, the Holy Prophet (saw) said that it would have been a lie had she not given her son what she had promised him, and that she would have thereby taught her son deception.
Women play the primary and most decisive role in the moral education of children. If Ahmadi mothers use their influence to instil honesty in their children, they will together create a society founded on truth. Moreover, an honest society is a brave and courageous society. Children who are armed with the power of truth will have the confidence and strength to spread the message of Allah without fear or a complex.
Another virtue that is prescribed for a believing woman is patience. Although it is extremely difficult, patience in the face of adversity leads to Allah's favour and rewards. This is particularly important within the four walls of one's home, where a lack of patience can lead to smaller problems escalating into serious disputes, divisions and resentment. Therefore, strive with patience and prayers to resolve every problem that arises by mutual agreement and to strengthen your family bonds. That is a point that I often emphasize to Ahmadi women who seek my advice. Should, God forbid, the situation become extremely serious, the matter can be brought before the Nizam-e-Jamaat [6] (Organizational System) so that efforts towards reconciliation and reform can be undertaken.
Unfortunately, a lack of forbearance or tolerance can also lead to problems with in-laws. Small or insignificant matters can quickly escalate, while wisdom dictates that one should exercise patience for the sake of the family wherever possible. Believing women—whether they are mothers, daughters, sisters, or members of the in-law family—who are patient and act according to the teachings of Allah will create an atmosphere of peace, harmony, and love in their homes. Remember that a peaceful home serves as the cornerstone of a peaceful society. If you therefore cultivate peace in your home, it will radiate into the wider society and through the Jamaat.
Today, the world is in a critical state because egoism has taken root. Everyone prioritizes their own rights and often lacks the willingness to show patience or make compromises for the greater good. Such attitudes naturally cause disputes and resentment. If we therefore wish to make our Ahmadi community a righteous and pious one, both men and women must display the quality of patience. Patience is not a weakness, as the modern world may suggest. It is a profound virtue and a demonstration of true strength, courage, and wisdom.
A dangerous consequence of social media is being exposed to harmful influences. So-called experts mislead their viewers and urge women to take a lawyer or, because of small, solvable problems, to file for divorce. The haste to break up families is not only harmful to the women involved but also destructive to the future well-being of their children. Studies show that the breaking up of families often leads children onto dark and dangerous paths. Therefore, I repeat that believing men and women should exercise forbearance and prayers and always strive to keep their family together. If problems at home cannot be resolved, it is advisable to inform the Jamaat confidentially so that relevant departments can help in reconciliation.
Similarly, people sometimes have difficulties with neighbors or also with office-bearers of the Jamaat. Here too, patience is a virtue. Even if an office-bearer has made a mistake—office-bearers are not flawless, they can make a mistake—the reaction of the other party is sometimes even worse. Blinded by anger and a lack of patience, they exaggerate or bring false accusations. Consumed by their resentment, they themselves become wrongdoers and put their faith at risk through the tyranny of pride and ego.
One sin often leads to the next and escalates further until the peace of the entire society is disturbed. Consequently, it is where Allah instructs us to show patience that it is no small or insignificant matter. Rather, it is fundamental to the peace and well-being of every level of society, from one's own home to international relations.
Another virtue that Allah has prescribed for a believing woman is humility. Humility is the key to mutual respect, and a society rich in humility is peaceful and harmonious. Regrettably, many nations today are in a state of constant conflict, the cause of which often lies in their arrogance and stubbornness. If governments, leaders, and their populations were humble and acknowledged their own weaknesses, they could be more compassionate toward others, and disputes could be resolved peacefully.
As Ahmadi women, if you are humble and instil humility in your children, you will raise future generations who can lead the world to peace and prosperity. In this way, you will play a fundamental role in preserving the world from destruction. Otherwise, the current course of the world is extremely dangerous. Nevertheless, we should never give up hope or lose our trust in Allah. Furthermore, we should ensure that we and our families always show humility and that our actions are never tai

In Sure al-Baqara, Vers 187 sagt Allah:
Wir müssen alles befolgen, was Allah gebietet, und alles vermeiden, was Er verbietet.
