The interdisciplinary connection of philosophy and economics through critically rational reflection is a central scholarly concern that is continued and institutionally secured through the relaunch of the journal RMM.

He advocated above all for a critically rational foundational reflection in economics and philosophy that is oriented towards the empirical sciences.

The text announces the relaunch of the open-access journal Rationality, Markets and Morals (RMM) by the Hans-Albert Institute. The aim is to continue an interdisciplinary platform that connects philosophy and economics. The project is based on the research programme of Hans Albert, who advocated a critically rational reflection oriented towards the empirical sciences. RMM was initiated in 2009 by Bernd Lahno and Michael Baurmann and counted renowned authors, including Nobel laureates, among its contributors. After the former publisher ceased operations in 2015, the volumes were initially made accessible through Justus Liebig University Giessen. Now the earlier articles are available through the new website rmm-journal.com. In addition, a special issue on the occasion of Dieter Birnbacher's 80th birthday is announced, which deals with ethics, responsibility, and bioethics.

The Hans-Albert Institute (HAI) announces the relaunch of the open-access journal "Rationality, Markets and Morals" (RMM). With this step, the Institute enables the continuation of an interdisciplinary platform that, from 2009 to 2015, devoted itself with remarkable success to questions at the intersection of philosophy and economics. With the relaunch of RMM, the Hans-Albert Institute seeks to promote the further pursuit of a central concern of its namesake. In the spirit of David Hume's "An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals," Hans Albert rejected the strict separation of academic disciplines. He advocated above all for an empirically oriented critical-rational foundational reflection in economics and philosophy. Under the influence of Hans Albert's research programme, RMM was launched in 2009 on the initiative of Bernd Lahno and Michael Baurmann (HAI Advisory Board) with a Festschrift for the philosopher and economist Hartmut Kliemt (HAI Advisory Board). Numerous distinguished editors and authors were secured, including Hans Albert and the Nobel laureates Elinor Ostrom (Economic Sciences 2009), Reinhard Selten (Economic Sciences 1994), and James M. Buchanan (Economic Sciences 1986). The earlier volumes of RMM were initially published by the former Frankfurt School Publishing House. When the publisher ceased its operations in 2015, the RMM issues remained accessible under the umbrella of Justus Liebig University Giessen. Now that a new institutional umbrella for RMM has been found, the earlier articles can also be accessed via the new journal website at rmm-journal.com. Special Issue on the 80th Birthday of Dieter Birnbacher With the relaunch, the Hans-Albert Institute also draws attention to a currently open call for a Special Issue on the 80th birthday of HAI Advisory Board member Dieter Birnbacher. Birnbacher is among the most prominent ethicists in the German-speaking world and has, with his work, set decisive impulses for practical philosophy. The Special Issue addresses themes that lie at the centre of his scholarly work – from theories of responsibility to future ethics and intergenerational justice, and to problems of bioethics and medical ethics (embryo and reproductive research, organ transplantation, euthanasia, genome editing). Further information on submission guidelines can be found on the journal's website.
