The administration of church endowment assets requires the modernization of structures and an ethical stance full of fidelity, since the funds are to be regarded as sacred gifts given out of love for God.
He emphasized that these assets are tithes and donations that were offered by their givers out of love, and therefore everyone who works in the authority must understand that they are dealing with gifts that were offered out of love for God!
The text reports on the opening of the modernized building of the Coptic Endowment Authority by Pope Tawadros II in the Cathedral of St. Mark. The Pope commends the renovation as a 'civilizational leap' and emphasizes the historical development of the authority since its founding in 1959. He clarifies that the Endowment Authority was officially established by a presidential decree and manages church real estate assets. The funds come from tithes and donations, which are regarded as gifts given out of love for God. The Pope calls on the staff to handle this responsibility and to further develop the authority in the fields of education and health. He emphasizes that while the Church does not change in its doctrine, it must modernize in its administration and working methods. Finally, he calls for full fidelity and honesty in all transactions, since half-truths are to be regarded as lies.

His Holiness the Pope calls on the Authority to undertake further work in the fields of education and health to serve the Church and the nation.
This morning, Thursday, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II inaugurated the building of the Coptic Endowments Authority located on the land of Saint Abba Rouis, at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral, following its renovation and expansion.
Upon His Holiness’s arrival, he was received by the members of the Authority’s Board of Directors. He blessed the commemorative plaque marking the development of the new building and inspected the Authority’s departments and divisions, praising the distinguished effort that led to the new form, which reveals a developed vision for managing the Endowments Authority that meets the requirements of the era.
Counselor Manssour Naguib Suleiman, a member of the Authority’s Board of Directors, delivered a speech on behalf of the Board, in which he praised the clear attention of His Holiness to the development of the Authority and his diligence in following up on and encouraging all the renovation and addition steps introduced to the Authority’s work to create greater effectiveness in performance, thereby supporting the maximization of benefit in terms of results and outputs.
Counselor Manssour noted that the journey of work in development required the assistance of experts in several fields to ensure reaching the optimal form of development. He also reviewed the historical journey of the Authority, which began with a tripartite committee formed by Saint Pope Cyril VI in 1959, one month after his consecration as Patriarch. The Authority was then formed for the first time by a presidential decree in 1960. He praised the efforts of the late Pope Shenouda III, as well as the Metropolitan and Bishop Fathers within the Authority over its 66 years, and the fidelity, devotion, and precision that characterized their work for the benefit of the Authority and the Church.
Engineer Basel Sami Saad also presented an overview of the renovation works.
In his address, His Holiness expressed his happiness with the development and renovations carried out in the Authority’s building, describing them as a “civilizational leap,” noting that since its establishment 66 years ago, the Authority has not possessed a facility of this level.
He pointed out that the Coptic Endowments Authority is an official body established by presidential decree, and it is concerned with the Church’s real estate wealth. He emphasized that these assets consist of tithes and donations offered by their donors out of love; therefore, everyone working in the Authority must declare that they are dealing with gifts offered with love for God.
His Holiness clarified that the Church is not old but is renewed every day. Although the doctrine is fixed and has extended for 20 centuries, development, renewal, creativity, and modernization in people and places are matters that must occur. Renewing minds and the work cycle within the Authority is important, and there must be a grand vision for the future and for investment projects.
He added: “I hope that the day comes when the Authority builds multiple facilities serving education and health, which are greatly needed in serving the Church and are also important for the nation.”
His Holiness expressed his hopes that this development would be a launchpad for new work and thought, pointing out that the success of any work in the Church at any level requires complete fidelity in work, opinion, decision, and in every matter. We know that half-truths are lies; therefore, the matter requires extraordinary fidelity in all dealings.
It is worth noting that the Coptic Endowments Authority was established by Law No. 264 of 1960, and it is the official body supervising the endowments of the Coptic Orthodox Church, consisting of lands and properties.
