The Orthodox community in Thessaloniki nurtures its identity and cultural richness through the solemn honoring of its historical and intellectual authorities and through the active transmission of its heritage to the public.
With the presence of the All-Holiest and Most Holy Person of the Ecumenical Patriarch, the venerable Bartholomew, the jubilee celebrations were held on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, at the Cultural Center of Saint Theodoros on Imbros
The text is a collection of announcements and reports on cultural and church events in Thessaloniki and the surrounding area in 2026. At the center are celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the Patriarchate and the 65th anniversary of the priestly service of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, which took place on the island of Imbros. Further news items concern book presentations, including a work on the events of 1974 in Cyprus and a philosophical treatise by Konstantinos Xenopoulos. Exhibitions at the Museum of Byzantine Culture and at the Historical Archive of Hydra are presented, dealing with the history of Mount Athos and Byzantine architecture. The conferral of an honorary doctorate on a bishop from Tanzania by the University of Thessaloniki is highlighted as a sign of intercultural dialogue. Memorial events for Saint Paisios in Konitsa round out the program. The text serves primarily to inform about the cultural and religious life of the Orthodox community.
