Gratitude for the grace of Islam and Tawhid requires believers to maintain the unity of the community, avoid division, and obey the legitimate ruler, as long as he does not command sin.

Among the requirements of gratitude to Allah for the grace of Tawhid is that we strive for the unity of the ranks, the unity of word, reject division and strife, and obey the one to whom Allah has entrusted our affairs, without disobeying Allah.

The text is an Islamic sermon that begins with the customary praise of Allah and the declaration of testimony. It emphasizes the fear of Allah and obedience to His commands. Islam and Tawhid, the oneness of God, are highlighted as the greatest grace. Gratitude for this grace is linked to the striving for unity of word and the avoidance of division. Obedience to the ruler is required, as long as he does not command sin. The sermon honors Saudi Arabia as the land of the two Holy Sanctuaries and of the Sunna. It calls for the honoring of rulers and scholars in order to secure well-being in this world and the next.

Love for the Homeland and Unity of Word Indeed, all praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His guidance. We seek His forgiveness and repent to Him. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own selves and from the bad deeds of our actions. Whomsoever Allah guides, there is none who can misguide him, and whomsoever He misguides, there is none who can guide him. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His chosen servant and His selected messenger. May Allah send prayers upon him, his family, his companions, the followers, and those who follow them with excellence and proceed upon their path, and may He send abundant peace upon him. As for what follows, O people: Fear Allah and be in awe of Him, obey His command and do not disobey Him. “And fear Allah and know that you will meet Him, and give good news to the believers” [Al-Baqarah: 223]. “O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims” [Al Imran: 102]. Servants of Allah: Allah has bestowed upon us many diverse blessings, and no one can enumerate the blessings and favors of Allah upon him. “And if you should count the favor of Allah, you will not be able to number them” [Ibrahim: 34]. And among the foremost of these great blessings is the blessing of Islam and Tawheed (monotheism). Allah has expressed His gratitude for this to His believing servants, saying, Exalted is He: “This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and chosen for you Islam as religion” [Al-Ma'idah: 3]. And the Companitors, may Allah be pleased with them, valued this blessing appropriately. In the Sahih of Muslim, it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to a circle of his companions and said: “What has seated you?” They said: “We have sat to remember Allah and praise Him for what He has guided us to, namely Islam, and for what He has bestowed upon us.” He said: “By Allah, is it not that which has seated you?” They said: “By Allah, nothing has seated us but that.” He said: “As for me, I did not take your oath out of suspicion towards you, but Jibril came to me and informed me that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, boasts of you before the angels” (Narrated by Muslim). Servants of Allah: Among the requirements of thanking Allah for the blessing of Tawheed is that we strive for the unification of the ranks, the unity of word, and the abandonment of division and discord, and the obedience of those whom Allah has placed in charge of our affairs, except in disobedience to Allah. In the authentic hadith from Ubada ibn al-Samit, he said: “We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to listen and obey in ease and hardship, and not to dispute the matter with its rightful people, and that we speak the truth wherever we are, not fearing in Allah the blame of a blamer” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari). And from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: “Upon the Muslim man is listening and obeying in what he loves and hates, except if he is commanded to do a sin; if he is commanded to do a sin, then there is no listening nor obeying” (Narrated by Muslim). And in these texts and others, the people of knowledge said: “People will remain in goodness as long as they honor the ruler and the scholars; if they honor these two, Allah will reform their worldly and hereafter affairs.” And among the blessings of Allah upon us is that He has placed us in the land of Tawheed and creed, the cradle of the Sunnah and the Message, the source of faith, the land of the Two Holy Sanctuaries, and the qibla of all Muslims: Here in Makkah, the verses of Allah have descended
