The major signs of the End Times have already appeared, and only those who believe and do good before their appearance will be saved; the believers must prepare for the Hereafter through God-fearing and repentance.
The sermon deals with the major signs of the Hour (End Times) according to Islamic tradition. The preacher quotes a Hadith from Sahih Muslim in which the Prophet Muhammad lists ten signs before the Hour. These signs are explained individually: the sunrise in the west, the Beast, the smoke, the false Messiah, the descent of Jesus, Yajuj and Majuj, three earthquakes, and a fire from Aden. The text links these eschatological events with Quranic verses and emphasizes the necessity of God-fearing. The sermon is directed at the believers and calls for preparation for the Hereafter. It warns that faith and repentance will no longer be of any use after the signs have appeared. The text is a classical Islamic Friday sermon with a strong eschatological focus.

Sermon: The Signs of the Hour Have Already Come
The First Sermon
All praise is due to Allah, "Praise be to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Then those who disbelieve in their Lord are equalizers" [Al-An'am: 1], and "Praise be to Allah, who sent down upon His Servant the Book and did not make therein any deviation" [Al-Kahf: 1], and "Praise be to Allah, who has guided us to this, and we would not have been guided had it not been that Allah guided us. Indeed, the messengers of our Lord have come with the truth" [Al-A'raf: 43]. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, a testimony by which we hope for salvation and success in this world and the Hereafter. And I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad is His Servant and His Messenger, His chosen Servant, His selected Prophet. He conveyed the pure religion, made the proof manifest, and established the path, and he did not die until Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, had completed the favor through him and was pleased with Islam as our religion and way of life. May the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, upon his family and his companions, and may He send abundant peace upon them. As for what follows, O people:
I advise you and myself to fear Allah, so fear Allah with true fear, and hold fast to your religion of Islam by the firmest handhold, for our bodies are not strong enough against the Fire. "O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims" [Aal 'Imran: 102]. "O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever, over you, a Watcher" [An-Nisa: 1]. "O you who have believed, fear Allah and say a sound word. He will amend for you your affairs and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has attained a great attainment" [Al-Ahzab: 70-71].
O Servants of Allah!
It is established in Sahih Muslim [1] through his chain of narration from Hudhayfa ibn Asid Al-Ghifari, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: We were discussing among ourselves when the Prophet, may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, came upon us and said: "What are you discussing?" We said: We are discussing the Hour, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "It will not come until you see before it ten signs." He mentioned: "The rising of the sun from its setting, the emergence of the Dabbah upon the people at midday, the smoke, the descent of 'Isa ibn Maryam, the emergence of Ya'juj and Ma'juj, the Dajjal, and three earthquakes: an earthquake in the East, an earthquake in the West, and an earthquake in this Peninsula. And the last of them: a fire that will emerge from the depths of Aden, driving the people to their gathering place." In another narration [2]: "It will drive the people to their gathering place." This, O Servants of Allah, is a great and weighty hadith that seizes the hearts of the people of faith and fills them with terror, and that is only because of their fear of their Lord, the Exalted, and their reverence and awe of Him.
The Prophet, may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, looked down from a high place upon the Companions while they were talking. The world had not occupied them, nor its wealth, nor its adornment, nor its women. Rather, their conversation was about the Hour. So he said to them, may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him: "It will not come": meaning the coming of the Hour, which indicates the end of this world and the approach of the Hereafter in its eternal, everlasting life. "It will not come until you see before it ten signs": these ten signs are the major signs of the Hour. "So are they waiting except that the Hour should come to them suddenly? But the signs thereof have already come" [Muhammad: 18].
And when Jibril asked the Prophet, may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon them both, he said: O Muhammad! Inform me about the Hour. He said: "The one asked about it is not more knowledgeable than the one asking" [3]. He said: Then inform me about its signs? Meaning its indicators. So the Prophet, may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, mentioned in this hadith of Hudhayfa the ten major signs of the Hour. He mentioned the rising of the sun from its setting, because Allah has established His cosmic law that the sun only rises from the East and sets in the West. So when the command of Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, comes, Allah will command the sun to rise from where it set. So the people will not be taken by surprise at that time except that the sun will appear to them from where it had set. At that time, the disbeliever will go seeking to believe, but his faith will not benefit him. And the sinner and the wicked will go seeking to repent, but his repentance will not benefit him. "Do they wait except that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord should come, or that some of the signs of your Lord should come? The Day some of the signs of your Lord will come, no soul will benefit from its faith unless it had believed before or had earned through its faith good" [Al-An'am: 158].
And he, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned secondly, after the sun rises from the west, the emergence of the Dabbah upon the people at mid-morning, and this is what Allah has drawn attention to in the chapter of the Ants in His saying, Exalted and Glorious: "And when the word is fulfilled against them, We will bring forth from the earth a beast that will speak to them, that mankind were not assured of Our signs" [Al-Naml: 82]. A Dabbah that will emerge from the Noble Mecca; Allah knows best its nature and its condition. It will address the believer by the name of faith and address the disbeliever by the name of disbelief, so they will be recognized by this address when this Dabbah addresses them.
The third sign: the emergence of the Smoke, and it is a great smoke that covers the people so that it encompasses them. This is a painful punishment. Allah knows best its nature—whether it is a gas or radiation or nuclear dust or something else. It is smoke in all that this word carries in the language of the Arabs in its meanings. And the emergence of the Smoke, O servants of Allah, is a sign among the signs of the Hour. I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan: "So wait for the Day when the sky will come with a visible smoke, that will cover the people. This is a painful punishment" [Ad-Dukhan: 10-11].
Among its signs as well, O servants of Allah: the emergence of the Dajjal, and he is an evil that is absent and awaited, and the Hour is more cunning and more bitter. And the Dajjal, O servants of Allah, there is no prophet except that he warned his nation against him, because he is the greatest of trials and the most heinous and the most dreadful, from Adam until the Hour is established.
Among its signs as well, fifthly: the descent of Isa ibn Maryam. Isa ibn Maryam, peace and blessings be upon him, will descend with his hand on the wing of an angel. When he lowers his head, it will drip from Paradise, and when he raises it, pearls like pearls will flow from it upon the white minaret east of Damascus. Isa will kill the Dajjal after the Dajjal hears of him and flees, and Isa will catch him at the gate of Ludd and kill him with his spear, piercing him in his breast. He will show the people the trace of his blood and relieve them from his evil.
The sixth sign, O servants of Allah: the announcement of Allah, Exalted and Glorious, of the emergence of Ya'juj and Ma'juj—a people who are disbelievers, polytheists, and idolaters, numerous in their number, formidable in their evil and their ugliness, filling the earth with injustice and corruption. The emergence of these people is among the signs of the Hour. Allah, Exalted and Glorious, will inspire Isa ibn Maryam, saying: "I have brought forth servants of Mine to whom no one can match, so protect My servants to the Mount." "Until when Ya'juj and Ma'juj are opened and they rush down from every elevation, and the true promise draws near" [Al-Anbiya: 96-97]. Do you know what the true promise is, O servants of Allah? It is the establishment of the Hour.
May Allah benefit me and you with the great Quran and what it contains of signs and wise remembrance. I say what you have heard, and I seek forgiveness from Allah for myself and for you, so seek His forgiveness, for He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
The Second Sermon
Praise be to Allah as He has commanded. I praise Him, and He has permitted increase for those who are grateful. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, affirming His divinity and His lordship, and believing in His names and His attributes, defying thereby whoever opposes Him or doubts or denies or disbelieves. And we send prayers and peace upon the master of mankind, the intercessor and the one who intercedes on the Day of Resurrection, peace be upon him and upon his family and his companions, the noble and radiant, the best of families and assemblies, no night has risen and no day has come and gone. As for what follows, O servants of Allah:
Fear Allah with true fear and prepare for your resurrection. And know that the signs of the Hour, the major and the minor, are among the stages of belief in the Last Day.
Among the signs of the Hour, the seventh, eighth, and ninth signs: three great eclipses that will change the earth and prepare it for the Day of Resurrection. "The Day when the earth will be replaced by other than the earth, and the heavens, and they will emerge before Allah, the One, the Prevailing" [Ibrahim: 48]. The first of them is a great subsidence in the east of this peninsula to the Sea of Japan, by which Allah, Exalted and Glorious, will change the features of this earth's crust. The second is: another great subsidence from the west of this peninsula to the Pacific Ocean. The third is: a subsidence that pertains to this peninsula, by which Allah, Exalted and Glorious, will prepare the earth for the Day of Resurrection.
And on the Day of Resurrection, O servants of Allah! This earth will be as if it is a loaf of bread with no elevations and no depressions, and no plains and no mountains, but rather it will be like the palm of one of you, like a single loaf. And the last of these signs, O servants of Allah: a fire that will emerge from the Sea of Aden, and in a narration: "from the bottom of Aden, it will drive the people to their gathering place" [4]. It will drive them to the land of Sham. It will rest with them where they rest and spend the night with them where they spend the night. And when it gathers them in the land of Sham, Allah, Exalted and Glorious, will send the gentle wind and announce, Exalted and Glorious, the establishment of the Hour.
Then know, O servants of Allah! That the best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a bid'ah, and every bid'ah is misguidance. And hold fast, O servants of Allah, to the community, for the hand of Allah is upon the community, and whoever strays will stray into the Fire, and the wolf does not eat except from the distant sheep.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim in all the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. And send peace, O Allah, a complete peace. O Allah, grant honor by which You honor Your allies, and humiliation by which You humble Your enemies. O Allah, bring to a successful conclusion for this Ummah a matter of guidance, in which the people of Your obedience are honored, and the people of Your disobedience are guided, and in which good is commanded and evil is forbidden, O You who possess Majesty and Honor. O Allah, guide our ruler with Your guidance. O Allah, take them by their forelocks toward righteousness and piety. O Allah, make them an honor for Your servants and Your believing allies, and a support for Your religion, and a humiliation for Your enemies, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, whoever has harmed us or harmed the Muslims, or has plotted against us or intended evil, O Allah, then occupy him with himself, and make his scheme return to his own neck, and make his planning destruction, O You who hears the supplication, O You who possess Majesty and Honor. O Allah, forgive the Muslim men and women, the believing men and women, the living among them and the dead, O You who possess Majesty and Honor. O Allah, You are Allah, there is no god but You. You are the Self-Sufficient, and we are the poor in need of You. Send down upon us rain, and do not make us among the despairing. O Allah, send us relief. O Allah, send us relief. O Allah, send a relieving, pleasant, beneficial rain, abundant, covering, and all-encompassing. O Allah, send a rain of mercy, not a rain of punishment, nor destruction, nor drowning, nor exhaustion. O Allah, indeed You see what we are in of need. O Allah, then have mercy on us with Your mercy which encompasses all things. O Allah, have mercy on these old men who bow in prayer, and these beasts that are restless. O Allah, send down upon us from Your goodness and Your bounty, O You who are the best of those who send down. Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good, and in the Hereafter [that which is] good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
O servants of Allah; "Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded" [An-Nahl: 90]. So remember Allah, and He will remember you, and be grateful to Him for His blessings, and He will increase you. "And the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do" [Al-Ankabut: 45].
