Negative thinking, illusions, and complaints weaken memory and accelerate mental decline in old age, while a positive mind and sincere practice counteract this.
However, a comfortable positive and optimistic mind does not get senile. Nevertheless excessive thinking, illusions and delusions and especially negative thinking can weaken the memory.
The text deals with the human lifespan and the mental weakness that sets in with age. It claims that a positive, optimistic mind counteracts the decline of mental faculties, while negative thinking, illusions, and complaints weaken memory. A connection is drawn between the longer life expectancy today and the frequency of senility, even among scientists and physicians. The listeners are urged to practice sincerely, to build up virtue, and to repeat mantras in order to keep the mind in one place. The impermanence of all phenomena is named as the insight through which unnecessary suffering and negative thinking are to disappear. The text closes with the appeal to lead a moderate and contented life, since life is not so long.

During this time of our lives, senility sets in and turns out to be one of the most difficult sicknesses. However, a comfortable positive and optimistic mind does not get senile. The brain is always attached to the past and sometimes to the future. Consequently the thinking is separate and fragmented. Therefore the age, address or even name are forgotten. It arises easily in old age and hence it is essential to make ourselves clear. We must ensure that we are free from all negative thinking, speech and actions, thus saving ourselves. A long time ago the human lifespan was very short and it was very rare that people became senile. Nowadays people live much longer, which is why even scientists and medical professionals can suffer from senility. It is highly important that everyone has a positive and optimistic mind. So those who are negative and complain a lot from the past until now manifest different kinds of actions and consult a doctor to check on symptoms associated with a senile condition. Hence as we age we must practice sincerely and build a lot of virtue so that we prepare correctly for the rest of our lives and even the next life. Those who practice sincerely know where they are going when they leave this world and are able to live their last moments with a peaceful mind. As we practice and repeat the mantra we keep our mind in one place while remaining in a relaxed state of mind. We think about the place with no thinking, then when there is time that we do not need to think we should be calm and serious so that we are comfortable and healthy. All phenomena are impermanent and when we truly realize that then all unnecessary agonies and negative thinking disappear. At the same time when we need to think we think. When we think about others we are happy. Living together with those who are happy is a most satisfying life. Life is not that long so let us live an appropriate and satisfied life. Thank you very much, Gikwangdapopsenem. Thank you very much for listening and thank you very much Gikwangdapopsenem. I find it really interesting that there is a connection between a person's negativity, constant complaining and pessimism and senility that you might have caused this yourself. Hmm, think about it. I wish you a wonderful, nice and happy week. Yours and the Dharma, Gagdap.
