God promises the believing servants palaces and tents in Paradise as a reward for their good deeds, and these can be attained through building mosques, voluntary prayers, and patience in trials.
The text is an Islamic sermon on the description of the palaces, tents, and chambers of Paradise. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Exalted. We praise Him, seek His help, seek His guidance, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah, the Exalted, from the evils of our souls and from the evil of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah, the Exalted, guides, then there is none who can misguide him, and whomsoever He misguides, then there is none who can guide him. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger, His chosen one from His creation and His intimate friend. He conveyed the message, fulfilled the trust, advised the Ummah, and Allah, the Exalted, removed the distress through him. So may Allah send prayers and peace upon him and increase and bless upon the master of your messengers, our master Muhammad, and upon his family and his companions, and whoever followed his guidance and took his Sunnah as a model and followed in his footsteps until the Day of Judgment.
O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims.
My beloved in Allah, with another description of Paradise. We ask Allah, the Exalted, to grant us Paradise without prior punishment or reckoning. And with the dwellings of Paradise and its palaces and its tents, we ask Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, to grant us the spaciousness of the Gardens of Paradise. Allah, the Majestic in His glory, says: "And goodly dwellings in the Gardens of Eternal Abode." And Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, said about these dwellings: "And they are in the chambers in safety." And Allah, the Majestic in His glory, said, promising the servants of the Most Merciful: "Those will be rewarded with the chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be greeted therein with a greeting and peace." O Allah, make us among Your servants, O Most Merciful of the merciful, whom You reward with these chambers, O Most Noble of the noble. And Allah, the Exalted, said: "But as for those who fear their Lord, for them are chambers, above which are chambers, built, through which rivers flow. A promise of Allah; Allah does not fail His promise."
Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "The Glorious and Exalted informed about His blessed servants." O Allah, make us among them. O Allah, make us happy in both abodes, O Magnificent in hope, O Vast in giving. The Glorious and Exalted informed about His blessed servants that they have chambers in Paradise, and they are the palaces, that is, the towering ones. The chambers are not a room in a house. The chambers mean the great, spacious, large palaces. Above them are chambers built, that is, stories above stories, well-constructed, decorated, elevated. O Allah, admit us to Paradise without prior punishment or reckoning.
And the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, described these palaces to us. In the hadith narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad and others, from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There are chambers in Paradise whose outside can be seen from its inside and whose inside can be seen from its outside. Allah, the Exalted, has prepared them for those who feed food, speak the truth, fast, and pray at night while people are sleeping." O Allah, help us to remember You, thank You, and worship You well. O Allah, make love of faith attractive to us and adorn it in our hearts, and make hatred of disbelief, transgression, and disobedience repulsive to us, and make us among the rightly guided.
And Allah, the Exalted, informed about the tents in Paradise, where He, the Majestic in His glory, said: "With fair maidens kept in tents." And these tents, my beloved, are extraordinary tents. They are tents of pearl. Rather, they are a single pearl. The tent is a single pearl. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The tent is a hollow pearl, a single pearl, but its inside is empty. This is the tent. Its length in the sky is thirty miles. In every corner of it, for the believer, are people. Whenever you go inside this pearl, this pearl is like a great garden. And this tent is only this. This is not the palace. This is a tent that comes out of your palace. You go on a journey, you rest a little in Paradise in this tent, then you return to the palace. This tent is of pearl. In it are servants, and in it are people who serve you. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'In every corner of it, for the believer, are people whom the others see.' Look at the width of this tent. Those on the right do not see those on the left. Why? Because of its length and width and greatness. O Allah, admit us to Paradise without prior punishment or reckoning."
And in another wording, and in the narration of Muslim, may Allah have mercy on him, it is sixty miles. So this is a great, spacious, large tent. And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us about the characteristics of the palaces of some of his wives and some of his companions. In Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "Gabriel came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this is Khadijah. She has come with a vessel containing food.' Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, came with a vessel containing a sauce like oil or vinegar or something similar, and food. He said: 'When she comes to you, convey to her my greetings from her Lord, and give her glad tidings from me from her Lord and from me, and give her glad tidings of a house in Paradise made of coral, that is, pearl, with no commotion in it and no hardship.'"
And in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, from Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'I entered Paradise, and I saw al-Ramisa, the wife of Abu Talha. And I heard a rustling, a movement, and I said: 'Who is this?' He said: 'This is Bilal.' And I saw a palace with a maidservant in its courtyard. The courtyard of the palace is the open area in front of the palace. There was a maidservant, a servant. I said: 'Whose is this second palace?' They said: 'It is for Umar ibn al-Khattab.' So I wanted to enter it and look at it.' The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wanted, while he was in Paradise, strolling, peace and blessings be upon him, to enter to look at the palace of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. How beautiful it is and how spacious it is! O Allah, gather us with Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, O Most Merciful of the merciful. And with the trustworthy Prophet, upon whom are the best prayers and the most complete peace. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'So I wanted to enter it and look at it, but I remembered your jealousy.' He said: 'Umar, by my father and my mother, O Messenger of Allah, that is, I would ransom you with my father and my mother, O Messenger of Allah. I am jealous over you. Shall I be jealous over you?' So look at this brotherhood in religion and this love in Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He. And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us how we attain these palaces. One of us wants a large house in this world, and when he passes by tall houses, houses he sees..."
Its outward appearance is from its inward appearance and its inward appearance is from its outward appearance. The person keeps looking and saying, "I wish I had obtained something like this and attained this house." So look at the ease of the houses and palaces in Paradise. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, even if it is as small as the footprint of a cat, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise." That is, whoever builds a mosque, even if it is small, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, even as small as the footprint of a cat or smaller, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise." So everyone who supports a mosque, everyone who builds a mosque, will receive the reward, and according to the measure of your giving, your palace will be, and your tent in Paradise will be. And likewise, among the means of building palaces in Paradise, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever prays twelve rak'ahs of voluntary prayer during the day and the night, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise." Allahu Akbar. If you pray the sunnah prayers—two rak'ahs before Fajr and four rak'ahs, meaning two rak'ahs, two rak'ahs before Dhuhr, or two rak'ahs and four after Dhuhr, and likewise two rak'ahs after Maghrib and two rak'ahs after Isha—if you pray twelve rak'ahs or more, Allah will build for you a palace in Paradise. So the house is nothing but the palace. So look at this great, easy act of worship by which we attain palaces. But we ask Allah to guide us, and we ask Allah to remove from us laziness, and we ask Allah to make prayer and the rak'ahs and the prostrations beloved to us. And likewise, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the child of a servant dies, Allah says to His angels: 'Have you taken the child of My servant?' They say: 'Yes.' He says: 'Have you taken the fruit of his heart?' They say: 'Yes.' He says: 'What did My servant say?' They say: 'He praised You and said Iistirja'—meaning he said: 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' (Indeed to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return).' So Allah says: 'Build for My servant a house in Paradise and name it Bayt al-Hamd (the House of Praise).'" So the trials and patience during shocks—this is among the means by which the servant attains palaces and houses in Paradise. We ask Allah to build for us palaces beside the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. O Allah, gather us with the Chosen Prophet and make us among his neighbors, upon him be prayers and peace. I say this and I seek forgiveness from Allah for myself and for you, so seek His forgiveness, for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. [clears throat] In the name of Allah, all praise is for Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah and upon his family and his companions and whoever follows them. In front, many brothers are standing. Please fill in the gaps and sit closer together. It continues, dear brothers and sisters, with the Paradise, that goal of every Muslim.
