True trust in God does not consist in forgoing outward means, but in combining them with the unshakable certainty that Allah provides for sustenance and deliverance, leaving no room for despair or hopelessness.

The difference between ordinary people and prophets is, however, that the concern of the prophets, in contrast to that of the general public, is never accompanied by despair. They feel no hopelessness. They harbour the unshakable certainty that God will never let them perish.

The text is a Friday sermon of the Ahmadiyya that addresses the complete trust (Tawakkul) of the Promised Messiah Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in Allah. As a central pattern, it is described that he combined both allopathic and homeopathic remedies, dream revelations, prayer, and medical consultation when ill, without ever losing his ultimate hope in Allah. The difference between the concern of prophets and that of unbelievers is seen in the fact that the former never leads to despair or hopelessness. Several anecdotes illustrate how Allah sent immediate help in response to requests or in times of distress: money for guests, a mysterious money-bringer, deliverance from the plague, and the turning away of a robber through verses of the Quran. The text advises believers to take outward means and at the same time combine prayer and trust in Allah. A particular episode shows how the Messiah corrected the allegorical interpretation of the fire of Abraham by another scholar and held to the literal revelation. The core message is that true trust in God does not mean passivity, but the active seizing of all means in the certainty that Allah provides for sustenance.

Collection. In his accounts regarding the perfect trust in God of the Promised Messiah Al-Islam, Hasid Mishid Ahmad Sahib writes that Dr. Meed Ismail Sahib reported the following to him. The characteristic of the Promised Messiah Al-Islam in medical treatments was that he never limited himself to a single method. For the same illness, he administered allopathic medicine and simultaneously homeopathic medicine. If someone expressed a useful opinion, he implemented that as well. He acted likewise if something was revealed to someone in a dream. Sometimes, remedies are shown to personalities in dreams. To this end, he prayed, simultaneously consulted doctors and healers for their opinion, and looked up in medical specialist books to support the treatment. In short, he shaped the treatments into a truly miraculous mixture, yet his true trust rested entirely on Allah. To clarify the difference between the inner restlessness of prophets and that of ordinary people, for people often ask questions such as: who experiences restlessness? Why does one experience it? Is it a punishment? What is the cause? He explained that, although it is perfectly natural for a human being to become anxious due to his human constitution, it is simply a characteristic of the medical-human nature that all prophets share, as well as the entire Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was anxious during the Battle of Badr. However, the difference between ordinary people and prophets lies in the fact that the anxiety of prophets, in contrast to that of the general public, is never accompanied by despair. They do not experience hopelessness. They harbor the unshakable certainty that God will never let them perish. He explained, my condition is such that even if I were thrown into a blazing fire, I would have the firm thought that I would not perish. Certainly, there would be inner restlessness, since it is fire and the human being burns in it. Yet the hope remains, that the moment the voice resounds: O fire, be cool for Abraham and be a source of safety for him. The anxiety of other people, however, of those who do not possess faith, is accompanied by doubt and hopelessness. They do not place any expectations in God, and this constitutes unbelief. This state is unbelief, just as absolute trust in Allah in times of restlessness is the distinguishing characteristic of the prophet. Thus, a believer should also follow the practice of the prophets and especially the Sunnah of the entire Allah, Sallallahu alayhi wa Sallam, and not allow despair or hopelessness to take hold. Even in moments of restlessness, trust must be directed toward Allah. Appropriate measures should indeed be taken and appropriate prayers performed. Yet one must also trust in Allah. He gave the believers the advice that it is their duty to always place their trust in Allah and not to give any room to such hopelessness. Huzad Musleh Maud, Resulat Al-Anhu reports, dozens of us are alive to testify to the fact that Huzad Khalifatul Masih, when writing his book Nuruddin, wrote that the mention of Huzad Abraham being thrown into the fire is to be understood as the fire of contention, since he considered it unlikely for you to escape an actual fire unscathed. He interpreted the fire allegorically as the fire of contention. The Promised Messiah Al-Islam used to take walks in those days near Qadian in a village named Basrama. Huzad Musleh Maud, Resulat Al-Anhu recalls, I still remember that I accompanied him on such a walk. During the walk, someone remarked that the respected Mawlvi sahib, with whom Huzad It was Khalifatul Masih the First, Mawlana Nuruddin sahib, who was meant, who had illuminated an exceedingly subtle aspect. Such explanations encounter great resonance, especially among those people who strongly tend toward rational explanations. However, Huzur Masjid al-Islam, as he nearly walked back during the entire walk and spoke, directed me to convey to Mawlvis sahib that he should delete this passage. It has been revealed to us that the fire is our Dina. Yes, the Dina is our Dina. Since Allah, in this manner, dealt with Hassat Abur-Hamm al-Islam, what is there that is far-fetched? He said, is the plague not a lesser fire? Look, is it not a small miracle that the plague raged, yet Allah has spared our house from it? If Allah saved Hassat Abur-Hamm from the fire, what is there that is far-fetched? Convey to Mawlvis sahib from me that he should delete this passage. Thereupon, Mawlana Nuruddin sahib deleted this passage. That very sentence, what wondrous sublimity characterized his trust in Allah. If Allah has promised to save one from the fire, then the question does not arise in the slightest that one should not trust in Him or should not have complete certainty. With full conviction, he declared, I emphasize that the fire will not burn me, since Allah has so decreed. Hassat Mirza Beshi, who writes with sahib, Munchi Saffa der mit sahib, reported that during a Jelzah Salana 1, the financial means were exhausted. In those days, no donations were yet collected for the Jelzah Salana. The Promised Messiah el-Islam covered the expenses from his own means. The late Mir Nasir Nawab sahib came to him and informed him that there was no provisions for the guests for the evening. He replied, take a piece of my wife’s jewelry that can cover the costs and sell it. Thereupon, the jewelry was sold or used. Mir sahib brought the money, and the meals for the guests were already provided. Two days later, Mir sahib appeared again and explained, in my presence, that there was no more provisions for the next day, whereupon the Promised Messiah el-Islam answered, we had made arrangements including external means. Now we have no further need in this regard. The One whose guests they are will take care of it himself. When the postman from the post office came the next morning around eight or nine o’clock, Huzur had Mir sahib and me called to him. The postman delivered to him about ten to fifteen payment orders originating from the most diverse places. They were amounts of five figures or hundred rubles, and written on them was: since we unfortunately cannot participate in person, we are sending this money for the entertainment of the guests. After Huzur received the money, he delivered a sermon on trust in God. There were still some other persons present, where he sat. Reference is made to this incident; he said, just as a worldly-minded person trusts his money lying in his chest and is certain that he can withdraw it at any time, so those who trust in Allah harbor an even far deeper certainty in Allah. And exactly so it is, as soon as a need arises, Allah immediately sends His help, to illustrate the deep trust of the White Messiah, Allah, and the special conduct of Allah, with him, reports a servant of the White Messiah, Allah. Hassat Hafiz Hamid Ali Sahib, mir Nijmuddin Sahib Beirui, served as the manager of the Langkhanah, that is, the kitchen. One day, mir Nijmuddin Sahib went to Huzur and asked for funds to be able to purchase flour and the like for the needs of the guest kitchen. Huzur replied, I currently have no money at all, but the God whose guests these are and for whom the Langkhanah It is determined, He Himself will make arrangements. Thereupon, Nijmuddin returned to me. Only a short time later, a man dressed in tattered and torn garments visited Huzur. He announced his arrival, whereupon Finn Huzur radiates from it. The man handed Huzur a bundle, a sum of money tied in cloth, or immediately departed again. When Huzur opened this bundle, i.e., this cloth, a considerable sum of money was found inside. Huzur entered again, sent for the man, and tried to determine his whereabouts. However, he could no longer be found. Huzur called Nijmuddin Sahib to him and handed him the entire amount of money. Huzur Rifatul Masih I. reports that our beloved Huzur used to say: Some people take pleasure in their wealth. Another is happier about his large progeny, and yet another boasts of his great following. I, however, am happy that my God is the Almighty. The Promised Messiah (as) stated that Allah is the true Provider. A person who places his trust in Him can never be deprived of provision. He grants provision to the one who places full trust in Him, through all means and from everywhere. Allah says: Whoever puts his trust in Me and relies on Me, for him I will let provision rain down from My heaven and will not let it sprout before his feet. Therefore, every person should place his trust entirely in Allah. Hasid Sheikh Jacob al-Istzaib, Irfani reports: Hasid Mishmoud Ahmad, Mughal Allah, may He protect him, narrated that his Holiness, on the 5th of September 1898, at his request, that is, at the request of Hasid Mishmoud Ahmad, who was still a child at the time, told a story. The story went as follows. From this it becomes apparent that trust in Allah and true God-fearing qualify a person so that Allah Himself becomes his provider and fulfills his needs in such a manner that no one else knows of it. To illustrate this aspect, he told this story. Hasid reported that a God-fearing man was on a journey and passed through a jungle where a robber lived who plundered every passing traveler. In accordance with his habits, he set out to rob this pious man as well. The venerable man spoke to him: And in the heaven is your provision and that which you have been promised. Your provision is certainly in the heaven. Place your trust in God, internalize God-fearing, and renounce the path of deviation. Allah Himself will provide for all your needs. These words struck the heart of the robber. He left the pious man alone and acted according to his advice. This led to the point that he was served choice foods in vessels of gold and silver. After he had eaten, he always threw the vessels out of his hut. By chance, it happened that this pious man passed by there again. The only, the sole robber, who by then had become an exceedingly righteous and God-fearing person, described the entire incident to him and asked him to name another verse. Thereupon, the pious man quoted: O Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is indeed true, just as it is true that you speak. This means that when these promises are fulfilled, it will be evident that the Quran likewise represents an absolute truth. When this sole robber, this man who had abandoned theft and now turned to virtue, indeed performed virtuous deeds, heard these pure words, they left such a profound effect on him that the Sublimity of Allah became indelibly imprinted in his heart. The Sealed Messiah of Islam narrated that Hazrat Musleh Maud, Residallah Anho, told this story at an age when he was only nine years old. Undoubtedly, the The revered Messiah of Islam recounted this incident, taking into account the extraordinary comprehension of Hassat Mishabishid al-Ruddin Mehmood Ahmad. He was aware that the child would grasp the core of the story. At the same time, he undoubtedly pursued the goal, in him as well as in children in general, of awakening from an early age the consciousness of the immense importance of trust in God. These principles of Derbiert serve solely as guiding examples. What did Musleh Maud, Residallah Anho, report? The revered Messiah of Islam used to tell the story of a man who remained secluded in a place, preaching and delivering admonitions, while Allah always provided for him there. The place where he lived was far outside the city. Once, several days passed without any food being brought to him. This was presumably a test from Allah. The man thought to himself, now I should go to the city and ask a friend for something. I have been hungry for several days already. He went there, visited a friend, and asked him for something to eat. The friend gave him two or three flatbreads and placed a pot on top. As he was on his way back, the friend’s dog followed him, wagging its tail and running after him at every step. The man thought to himself, this bread also belongs to the dog, as it guards the house. I received the bread from the house, and this is its dog. Consequently, it is entitled to a share, for it watches over the property. The dog functions as a guard. Out of these thoughts, he broke off a third of a bread roll with soup and threw it to the dog, as this was its rightful due. This third of the bread came from the owner. The dog ate it but continued to follow him. The man thought to himself, undoubtedly, it has a greater right, since it is ultimately the guardian of this house. So he placed another pot on another piece of bread and threw it to him. But the dog ate this one too and did not leave his side. The man, who himself felt great hunger, then spoke to the dog, you are truly shameless. I have already given you two of the three breads, and yet you do not leave me alone. Hardly had he uttered these words when he was suddenly placed in a state of spiritual vision. He completely forgot the material world. The soul of the dog took on a personified form, stepped before him, and spoke, do you call me shameless? Yet I am only a dog, while you are a human being. I have had to hunger countless times in that house. But I have never left this house. You, on the other hand, suffered from hunger for only three days, and so quickly you left your place and went to the city. Tell me, who of us two is shameless? I or you? These words opened the eyes of the pious man, and he threw the third bread, along with the soup, before the dog. When he returned to his place of residence, he saw a man sitting there, waiting for him with extremely exquisite foods, and asked, where have you been? I have already been waiting for you. That is precisely the true level of trust in God, that the person directs his gaze not to anyone else, but to Allah. It is reported by the Lord Mohamed Zadikzai that the steadfast Messiah of Islam used to say, in my eyes, the old ones are the greatest idolaters. They are ceaselessly in search of provision, yet they do not make use of the means that Allah has prescribed in a legitimate way for the acquisition of livelihood. Nor do they have trust in God, and this although Allah says, and in the heaven is your provision and that which you are promised. Such so-called new ones, that is, these supposed alchemists, who to attempt to produce gold and silver from herbs and plants. Share as a true recipe of alchemy, provided that they also put it into practice. You are wasting your time with alchemy and have gained nothing from it. I now give you a recipe that is truly effective, provided you act according to it. He who fears Allah, and whom the heavens fear, He will provide him with a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect it. The fear of God is a state in the middle that, to the one who attains it, grants quasi all the blessings of the entire universe. Another incident regarding the trust in God of the first Messiah of Islam, Sheldan Shraibhazat Munchi, who attempted to travel to Delhi. Before his departure, he wrote a letter to selected friends, asking that anyone who received this writing should come to Delhi if possible. A debate with Mulvi Nassid Hussein from Delhi was to take place. Our debate will be with Mulvi Nassid Hussein. So I also travel to Delhi. Upon arrival, it became known that Mulvi Sahib intended to stir up unrest. Thereupon, we discussed this with Amil Shah Alishah, who was probably a police inspector or some other official. He assured us that we would take comprehensive security measures and dispatch a large number of police officers. Do not worry. No problem will arise. On the day of the debate, Jodri Nawab Khan and I visited Amil Alishah, but he explained, regretfully: I am sorry. Unfortunately, we cannot make any arrangements. Mulvi Muhammad Hussein Badalvi had explained to the Deputy Commissioner that the Mulvis hold debates daily. They do not want to make security arrangements and dispatch such a large number of police officers every day for such everyday matters. Thereupon, the Deputy Commissioner decided that no security measures were necessary. We are powerless, explained the police inspector. We are simply powerless and can do nothing. As valuable time had elapsed due to these conversations, I urged Nawab Khan: come, it is high time. Hussein will certainly not wait for us, but will appear punctually at the place of the debate. We hurried there as quickly as possible and saw Hussein just getting into the carriage. We informed him that the police had failed to make security arrangements. There was not the protection in the extent one would have wished, although a number of police officers were present. The promised Messiah of Islam replied calmly: What does that concern me? Our protection will be taken over by God Himself. We are inevitably going there and will not be stopped. When he arrived there, he was accompanied by only 11 persons and a boy. In total, there were thus only 12 persons, and on the opposite side, thousands of opponents had gathered. And there was a massive threat of riots. Yet on his face, not the slightest trace of fear or concern was to be seen. Resolute and fearless like a true hero, he stepped into their midst. Not a single malicious scheme of the opponents showed even the slightest effect. But God protected Husud from the fortress and from the responsibility for every act of wrongdoing. His trust in Allah was absolute and complete. Husud Muslehemaut reports that it is the duty of the believer to trust in Allah. The work is indeed done by God, the Exalted, but it is our duty to do exactly that, to think exactly that, and to say exactly that which God, the Exalted, has commanded us. The first Messiah of Islam expressed a prophecy regarding Atam and fixed the deadline of this prophecy. Asad Muslehemaut, Resulat al-Anhush, writes on this: I was 6 or 7 years old at that time, and I still remember this event very well. Asad Muslehemaut also detailed the floor plan of the rooms, described where one sat, how the arrangement was, which rooms were used for what purposes at the time and what their later use became. Be that as it may. After this detailed description, Asad Musleh Haq says, I remember exactly that I was still very small when the deadline for the Atam Prophecy expired. It was probably late 1894 or early 1896. I was 5.5 or 6 years old at the time. This sight has remained in my memory to this day. At that time, I did not understand the background because I was still so young. But through the tradition, I understand today that on every day that was the last day for the fulfillment of the Atam Prophecy, that is, when the 15 months came to an end, such an uproar prevailed that the people cried out weeping and prayed, oh God, let the Atam die. This happened after the Asr prayer and before the Maghrib prayer. Asad Musleh Haq reports that Musleh Haq had said that during the debate with the Atam, the latter once asked such questions that some of our people panicked, as these could not be answered immediately. Some people then formed a committee, that is, they came together for a discussion and wanted to support Hazrat Sahib by providing him with references from the Quran and the Bible, by presenting him with corresponding citations. He said, I jokingly said to Mawla Abdul-Qurim Sahib, does prophethood now also take place through consultation? If the Fersan Musyassal-e-Sala references are needed, he will ask for them himself, what is the reason for you to go and hand them to him. At that moment, Hazrat Sahib also appeared and when Surat, after a few words, did not want to leave, the late Mawla Abdul-Qurim Sahib rose and said, it would not be wrong if we would discuss for tomorrow's answer. We can consult on how the answer should turn out and the references. Thereupon Hazrat Sahib said laughing, your prayer is completely sufficient, just pray, that is enough. Then he left again. Haz

Samtung. Daher sollte jeder Mensch seinen Vertrauen gänzlich in Allah setzen.
