True enlightenment does not consist in fleeing into absolute samadhi, but in the complete, playful, and vital encounter with the 'suchness' of the world, by dissolving mental barriers and the sense of separation.

Miohocho is everywhere. I had the impression, when I came into the Docksam room and saw this exploding rhododendron. It is so overwhelmingly vital and beautiful. I just thought, this is actually Miohocho.

The text interprets the Buddhist narrative of Myōhō and the mountain Myōhō-ryū as a metaphor for the tension between absolute meditation (samadhi) and everyday action. The speaker argues that true reality is not revealed in the isolated peak experience, but in the 'suchness' of the world, which is often obscured by mental bubbles and inhibitions ('skulls'). By way of the example of dealing with ants in the tea hut, he illustrates the necessity of including other living beings in one's own practice, rather than fighting them as nuisances. He criticizes the sense of separation, which leads to violence against nature, and calls for the embodiment of the cosmic vitality of Myōhō in one's own aliveness. The listeners are encouraged to examine their inner blockages and to open themselves to the surrounding world of wonders.

Sen, the podcast by Chuka Sanga. Iho san si si si wa si sunbu sam gosa o goja ho romi Yes, I will start with Hikikan Roku 23. Ho Fuku points to myohocho. It says in Engos introduction: Jade is tested by fire. Gold by a stone. A sword by a hair. Water by a staff. In Send training, one recognizes the degree of realization and one’s own progress. Through one’s own words and sentences, one’s own attitude, and one’s own actions. One’s own coming and going, one’s own asking and answering. Tell me, how is this done? See the following example. When Ho Fuku and Choke were taking a walk, Ho Fuku said, pointing with his finger, this is myohocho. Choke said, what you are saying is well said. But ah, Setscho remarks on this, today with this man on the walk, what kind of plot is he planning? And he continues, I am not saying that we will not find such men as this once in 100 or 1000 years. But they are rare. A monk reported this to Kyosei, who said, but because of Choke’s remark, the field would have been strewn with skulls. Yes, the topic here, this Kuhans, names two poles, namely on the one hand myohocho. And on the other hand the field that is strewn with death skulls. And obviously these two levels of reality are interconnected. Myohocho, that is myohocho. Myohocho is a mythological sacred mountain named in the Avatamsaka Sutra. There is the youth Sudana, and he wanders under the guidance of Manjushri. He walks through a total of 53 stations of his awakening. He comes to 53 different teachers. And he also comes to myohocho, this wonderful peak, and climbs it, because he expects a special teacher there, Megashri or in Japanese Tukou. And although he has climbed this mountain, he does not find Megashri. He is not to be seen. And this is astonishing because it is generally known that Megashri has never left this mountain. He is always there. But this youth does not see him. He sees him only after he has descended from myohocho again and has reached a second peak. There he suddenly sees this inexplicably suddenly appeared Megashri. Yes. So, this myohocho mountain, of course stands for, as we always say, for absolute Samadhi. So, if we manage to advance into boundlessness in our meditation, then we do so on myohocho. Or we encounter myohocho. We sit like a mountain. We sit like myohocho. And then we can suddenly make contact with another reality. But not only when we are on this peak, but above all when we have descended from this peak again. So, the Send practitioners are full of these polar movements: advancing into absolute boundlessness and bringing back the boundless as experience into the world, the everyday world, the world of action. And only in this world of action can we actually truly become seeing. Only then can we fully discover reality. As long as we are on the myohocho peak in absolute Samadhi, we do not see it. There we see, we make contact with boundlessness. But we do not see reality; reality, which reveals itself to us in Sohsein. And Sohsein is something that, due to our mental attitude, our mental state, we are not up to. We often cannot encounter it. Sohsein is obvious on all sides and on the other hand difficult to grasp for us. Because we move around on this earth, hollowed out within the bubble of our own thoughts. And then we constantly encounter our own thoughts, and thereby we also encounter suffering. Because suffering is, of course, triggered by our thoughts. We think about the real world. It should be different. We think about other inhabitants of this world. They should behave differently. We think about ourselves. We must be different behavior. And we always avoid contact with the state of being a son. That is actually tragic. Because the world, as it is, has something benevolent, beautiful, and all-encompassing in itself, which could actually only serve to delight our heart. If we could face this reality, if we could open our heart to reality and stay beyond this bubble. So these death skulls that are spoken of, those are our inhibitions in contact with reality. And reality is all-encompassing, inside and outside. It is not something external. No, we ourselves are this reality too. And all the attributions we make, which come from our thoughts, are reflected back to us by the reality of our inner and our outer reality. This morning we were sitting there having tea with Dieter. And Dieter told us how he had dealt with our ants there. This tea hut had, as it turned out, become, due to the activities of Sven, the palace of the ants; they had created a wonderful eldorado for themselves there, where this depression is, where one could once store food. And yes, in the course of the construction work, they unfortunately had to say goodbye to this palace. And were transplanted into the Indian garden. Let us hope now that they can build themselves an appropriate new palace. But they are still connected to the old place. And as Dieter observed, they take care of the bereaved. There also the dead, etc. They drag them away to the new place. And what is interesting is that these ants have made friends with the state of being of the world in a very specific way and have become friends with it. And belonging to their state of being is, of course, something like the tea ceremony. So how do they integrate this tea ceremony into their world? And how little are we willing to integrate the ants into our world of the tea ceremony? So, we have now practiced this. We know, when one sinks the three Niaschinho, that they then know, ah, now the place is occupied by other energies. And we can take that into account. And then they hide themselves and let us do our tea ceremony. But the interesting thing is that there is an interplay. Namely, a complete perception of reality, both from the ants' perspective, as well as from us who are staying there, as well as from Dieter. He lets the ants be and live their ant life, and the ants let us live our tea life, because we refer to each other. If we were to pursue the usual problem-solving strategies, for example those recommended by the company Bayer, then we would be on the move with Sprees and would pursue the ants, and wherever one still pops up, immediately to defend ourselves against it with a corresponding spray. Or as my brother does so habitually in Canada. With home defense. These are measures of involvement that we take towards other living beings. Home defense. Defense of the homeland. With the poison sprayer, yes? So this is the very embodiment of the consciousness of separation, that we believe we must push other living beings away from our living space. We have modern agriculture around us here, where monocultures are growing and no other living beings can appear, except for the deer that occasionally pass through. Because we have used this total spraying method. We are moving in a world of killing. And that has consequences. It has consequences for diversity. We all know that. I do not need to elaborate on that. But it is also possible to connect with all these other co-creatures, to remove the separating element. To let them be more and more. I also had to learn for a long time in my life that one does not have to be afraid of these co-creatures that surround one. Whether it is insects or mice or birds. Or whatever. Certain plants that spread. Most of the time, this wholeness unfolds by itself in a much more harmonious way than we can achieve with our gardening skills or whatever. With the mole traps. And all the things there are, like the snail pellets. And so on. No. That accepting things as they are is a wonderful practice for us. And then we can also say, Myoho-horen is everywhere. This is not for an Avatar-Sutra, this is the mythical mountain. No, Myoho-horen is everywhere. I had the impression, when I entered the Dharma room and saw that exploding rhododendron. It is so overwhelmingly vital and beautiful. I just thought, this is actually Myoho-horen. Such a vital plant and this cosmic vitality, we can also embody it ourselves. We do not have to leave it to the rhododendron and the chestnut tree standing in front of the entrance. No, we can be that. We can be Myoho-horen. We can embody it. This kind of connection between heaven and earth. And we can feel comfortable with that. But unfortunately, in our life, we first have to clear away some skulls. Namely, experiences from past times that still determine our behavior. For example, I am repeatedly determined by a desire for harmony. And then I easily fall into a kind of adaptation. And then I cannot be Myoho-horen. But I am Myoho-horen. So in principle, but not really fully present. And I see that I have practiced a lot there, but that it is not yet finished. That there is still more potential possible. And many of us are like that. We always have the handbrake of our conventional upbringing or whatever, experiences from childhood that make us believe we could not fully bring in our strength. That we would rub people the wrong way with it. That we could not advance from this seriousness of duties into playful aliveness. That is what makes life beautiful there, when we can be playfully alive, when we can test ourselves with our aliveness in contact with all living beings and see that it meets with resonance everywhere. The aliveness. Instead, we think that with our skull patterns we could somehow gain approval. No, we do not even get that approval. It leads more to us being left a bit behind. Because we hinder and prune ourselves in our expression. Because we hold back, because we are not fully present. And therefore it would be so nice if we could manage it. Myoho-horen, this energy, this connection between heaven and earth, this cosmic vitality, to truly embody it. And we can practice that here. We can identify what prevents us from expressing ourselves fully, playfully, and energetically present. We can also support each other in that. Even when we encounter another member of the Sangha and perhaps feel that some judgment rises in us, then we can immediately examine that judgment. What is it about? Where does it come from? Why do I use it? Why do I prefer the world of separation over the world of connectedness? And there are reasons for that, and they are also understandable. But they want to be looked at. And they want to be brought into Nirvana and dissolved there, to live differently than in us, as patterns that hinder us. I wish us that we can do that. And the transition to that is by truly perceiving the realms surrounding and within us in the world, by taking them as a present miracle. So it has nothing to do with merit and having to acquire and so on. It is simply there. And we may rejoice over it, when we step out the door in the morning and see the setting moon and the last fading stars and hear the birdsong. We are surrounded by wondrous things and we have resonance in us for these many Miracles, if we are ready to leave this bubble, the bubble of separation. The bubble of separation is often our intentions, the ones we have. So then everything must align, formally assign itself to that. And then we only go for that. And then we cannot perceive the other beautiful things that are present at the same time. That is somehow tragic. And fundamentally, we can hang these intentions on a nail. What do we want with them, if we do not encounter the beauty of life on the way? No, then better to let go of the intention and simply stay in the world of miracles. So in my life, I also had such a wonderful bird, a blackbird, that landed every morning on my chimney above my bedroom. That is still 1.50 meters away. And so strong and so lively sounded this voice. It woke me up every morning, like that. A quarter past four, 4:50, 5, its concert began. And it was so moving. And then at some point came our wedding anniversary, Amy’s and my wedding anniversary here at the civil registry office. And then I took out my mobile phone and recorded it once. Because it also had such a beautiful ending, I tried to imitate it. And then we joined in singing from time to time in between, and so did the bird. And also during the day we recorded and did this, this approach. Anyway, he deeply impressed me with his form of vitality. How he sang there, he was song from top to bottom. And I thought so. This is truly the good tuning for this wedding anniversary. And this bird was also around me a lot in the garden and stayed at a short distance. And he had a bird’s nest, so his wife, presumably sat on eggs in the ivy at Gisela’s. So he only had to go around the corner of the house, could fly to her and take care of himself or whatever he always intended. And then he sang again with all his might. Yes, and one day, he was on his way to his partner, his female partner, and my front door was open and the large pane of glass slammed shut. It was the direct path, my door there and he was dead on the spot. And we buried him and remembered him. And then my concern was, will these little ones there now grow up or will they all die now too. And after a few days I saw that a young blackbird was hopping around near the next one, and I thought, oh God, at least, she made it. And I missed this bird greatly, because he was such a wonderful example. He simply lived it. In the end, he was also free from life and death. He went, the pane of glass slammed shut. And yes, I missed him. But oh miracle all around me, some chimneys, other blackbirds. And finally someone from this people of blackbirds also came into my garden again. And spread out there. In a certain way, this dead bird made room for others there. I find that the wonderful thing about the great life. We do not need to be afraid of dying. We make room. That is all, room for other forms of life, which can then unfold. I was once at a conference of the DBU in Wuppertal. There I argued the thesis that we can choose everything in life. We have the choice. And one person told him, no, you have no choice, whether you want to die and so on. In dying you have no choice. You must do it. Old age, illness, death, it hits you. As certain as the Amen in the church, he did not say. As certain as the Hanyashim. Or what do I know? Form is emptiness, emptiness space. In short, I answered him back then, no. I have the choice. I can choose to make my place free. To make of it a gift, that I go. Others have also done that. Others have also made room for me. And I am grateful for that. And so can I also make room. The bird made room. And there you see that death and life are such an integrated bond. That are merely poles in existence. And they need not prevent us from fully embracing the wonder of So-Science. And that is what I wish for us. That we may embody cosmic vitality. And that we may be with the great Life, as it is. And that we may gradually separate ourselves from our painful thoughts and into relaxation. That is my wish for us. Hi.

Sen, der Podcast von Chuka Sanga. Iho san si si si wa si sunbu sam gosa o goja ho romi Ja, ich fang mal an mit Hikikan Roku 23. Ho Fuku deutet of myohocho. Choke sagte, was du sagst, ist gut gesagt. Wo kommt das her? Hi.
