A good person is recognizable by their excellent qualities: they avoid evil, encourage what is good, are reliable, grateful, patient in trial, and do not act out of vanity but to attain Allah's pleasure.
Those who live Islam best are those with the best character.
The sermon asks what makes a good person and draws on the Arabic term "Khayr" (excellent, good, beneficial) and its opposite "Sharr." Based on Quranic verses and Hadiths, the qualities of a good person are listed: avoiding evil words and deeds, encouraging what is good, reliability, understanding in relationships, gratitude, patience in trial, competing in good deeds, and avoiding vanity. The text emphasizes that doing good should serve not the recognition of others but the pleasure of Allah. Social virtues such as politeness, kindness, fidelity in one's word, and punctuality in repaying debts are highlighted. At the end, a prayer is offered that Allah make the listeners good children, spouses, friends, and servants. A brief addendum calls for participation in the federal election on 23 February 2025 and describes this as a democratic right and responsibility.

To Be a Good Person
(21.02.2025)
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
Ramadan is approaching as the month of Sha'ban draws to a close. Insha'Allah, we will welcome the holy month of Ramadan next Friday evening with the first Tarawih prayer. May Allah allow us to reach this blessed month.
In today's Friday sermon, we will address the question of what makes a good person. To answer this, we will utilize the term "Khayr," which is mentioned in many Quranic verses and Hadiths. "Khayr" means "excellent, good, beautiful, valuable, and useful." "Sharr" is its opposite and means "evil, bad, ugly, and worthless."
Quranic verses and Hadiths containing the term "Khayr" explain to us who a good person is and what qualities he possesses. We observe the following:
A good person avoids all kinds of evil words and deeds.[1] He encourages good and strives to prevent evil.[2] He is trustworthy. One always expects good from him.[3] A good person is understanding and gets along well with his family, friends, and neighbors.[4]
The good person is the one who is grateful when blessed by Allah, who does not despair when tested with hardship and difficulty, and who always strives on the path of Allah.[5] The good person opens doors to good and closes doors to evil. He strives to spread good on earth and competes in doing good deeds.[6] The best person does good not to gain the recognition of others, but to attain the satisfaction and pleasure of Allah[7] and remains free from vanity.
A righteous person is faithful to his word and does not delay his debts.[8] A good person has modesty, speaks only good, and displays only exemplary deeds.[9] He maintains good social relationships, does not refuse anyone the greeting of Allah[10] and is never lacking in politeness and kindness.[11] With the short and clear words of our Prophet (s): "Those who best practice Islam are those with the best character."[12]
May Allah make us good sons and daughters, good spouses, good friends, ultimately good and righteous people and servants of Allah! May our Friday and our life path be blessed until the last breath! (Amin, wa al-hamdu lillahi Rabbil 'alamin.)

Ein guter Mensch sein
(21.02.2025)
Liebe Geschwister!
(Amin, we’l-hamdu lillahi Rabbi’l-alemin.)
