Make things easy, (and) do not make them difficult! Ease the path to marriage and ensure that wedding costs remain within reasonable bounds.

Let Us Ease the Burden of Marriage
(16.05.2025)
In our Friday sermon today, I would like to remind our brothers and sisters who are preparing for marriage, and their families, of the significance that our religion attaches to this matter.
Dear brothers and sisters, esteemed believers!
Marriage is among the matters to which Islam attaches great importance. It is a covenant between a man and a woman who are permitted to marry under Islamic law. Through this covenant, both assume responsibility for one another and for their shared life.
In a hadith, our Prophet (s) addresses all young people with the following words: "Whoever among you is able to marry, should marry, for marriage is the best means of guarding the eye from what is forbidden (haram) and preserving chastity." The Messenger of Allah also points out the need for care in choosing a spouse. He advises not to give priority to a person's wealth, lineage, or beauty, but to their piety.
Dear young people!
Heed the call of our Prophet! Do not be afraid of marriage and do not hesitate to establish your own family! Trust in Allah and submit yourselves to His will! Pray to Him with a sincere heart, as revealed in the Quran: "(…) Our Lord, grant us spouses and children who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us an example for the God-fearing."
Esteemed parents who wish to marry off their children!
Do not forget the advice of our Prophet, who said: "Make things easy, and do not make them difficult!" Ease the path to marriage and ensure that wedding costs remain within reasonable limits. Do not burden your children, who heed the command of Allah and wish to establish a family, with debts they will have to repay for years. Do not compare your children's weddings to the lavish celebrations of others. Avoid thoughts such as "Why should my child's wedding be less grand?" Do not let yourselves be drawn into an unnecessary competition – neither yourselves nor your children!
Whether you belong to the groom's family or the bride's family – always strive for moderation and reason. Do not say: "Our child is only getting married once, everything must be the best and most expensive!" Do not become a burden to anyone, do not make life difficult for anyone. Do not lead yourselves or your children into financial and emotional difficulties out of vanity. Do not act with the fear of "What will people say," but with the mindfulness of "What does Allah say?"
Esteemed believers!
The Messenger of Allah (s) said in a hadith: "The best marriage is the one that is the simplest." Let us heed this valuable guidance and strive to hold our celebrations free from ostentation and waste, simple and modest. Let us hold engagement and wedding celebrations within the permissible (halal) framework and in accordance with the pleasure of Allah. Let us not cast a shadow over this beautiful path, which begins with the command of Allah and the recommendation/sunna of our Prophet, by transgressing the commands and prohibitions of Allah!
Brothers and sisters!
Our exalted Creator has placed upon us the responsibility: "And marry the unmarried among you (…)" Let us, in this spirit, support young people who wish to marry – both materially and spiritually.
O Allah, grant all our brothers and sisters who wish to establish a family righteous life partners! O Allah! Grant all our brothers and sisters who desire a family righteous spouses! Grant us spouses and children who will bring us joy and happiness! Make us an example for those who keep themselves away from sins! (Amin)

Erleichtern wir die Ehe
(16.05.2025)
(Amin)
