The excessive pursuit of material wealth leads people to forget the afterlife; instead, they should increase what is good, be grateful, and prepare for divine accountability.
Increase what is good! Increase love, respect, and mercy! Increase peace, brotherhood, and well-being! Do not make this world and the next a hell for yourselves!
The text is a Friday sermon by DITIB that interprets Sura at-Takasur (102) and applies it to the present life of believers. The sura is understood as a warning against the excessive pursuit of wealth and material possessions. A hadith of the Prophet is cited, which reduces true possession to what one consumes, wears, and passes on for the afterlife. The sermon calls on listeners not to be distracted by the transient world but to increase what is good, love, respect, and mercy. It points to accountability before God and calls for gratitude for the gifts received. The text closes with a supplication of the Prophet that warns against an insatiable heart and useless knowledge. No specific current political or social reference is made; the connection to the present remains general and moral.

Rooting the Sura at-Takasur in Life
(20.06.2025)
In the Sura Takasur, which I have just recited, our exalted Lord says the following: "Competition in increase engulfs you, until you visit the graveyards. Nay, you are soon to know. Again, nay, you are soon to know. Nay, if you only knew with knowledge of certainty! You will surely see the Hellfire. Again: You will surely see it with the eye of certainty. Then, you will surely be questioned that Day about the enjoyments [you had]."
Beloved brothers and sisters! Dear believers!
The Messenger of Allah (s) one day began reciting the Sura Takasur and, after the first verse – "Elhakumu't-tekasur/Competition in increase engulfs you" – said to his companions: "A man says 'My wealth, my wealth!' O man! Your true wealth is only what you eat and consume, what you wear, and what you give for the sake of Allah and thereby prepare for the Hereafter."
Beloved brothers and sisters!
This short but profound Sura conveys to us, in essence, the following messages:
O people!
Do not boast of the extent of your possessions! Do not rely on your wealth! Do not let yourselves be distracted by the transient world; instead, prepare yourselves for the eternal Hereafter!
O people!
If you wish to increase something in your life, then increase the good! Increase love, respect, and mercy! Increase peace, brotherhood, and well-being! Do not make this world and the Hereafter a hell for yourselves!
O people!
Trust in your Lord and believe in His words! Use your intellect! Follow the noble Quran, which is the absolute truth from Allah! Strive for a life of which you can give an account! Be aware of the blessings bestowed upon you and show gratitude! Never forget that you will one day be held accountable for all these blessings!
I would like to conclude my sermon with the following supplication of our Prophet (s): "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from a heart that does not feel reverence, from a soul that is never satisfied, from knowledge that brings no benefit, and from a supplication that is not answered." (Amin)

Die Sura at-Takasur im Leben verankern
(20.06.2025)
Liebe Geschwister!
