Those who hear the Buddhist teaching must draw the consequences from it and remain vigilant in joyful effort, since even on particularly meritorious days merit can be destroyed by wrong action.

We only need, when we learn something, when we listen, when we listen to those who teach, nowhere is it as important as in the Buddhist teaching, to draw the consequences from what we hear.

The text explains that the nine Yanas originally summarize the different views and paths of Buddhism that were taught upon its arrival in Tibet. The speaker emphasizes that it is not about knowing everything, but about drawing the consequences from what one has heard. A central theme is the accumulation of merit through encountering the Buddhist teaching, particularly through seeing monks and nuns in their robes. As an example, the healing experience of Frau Zimirk in 1992 is recounted, when three lamas visited the site. The text warns that on particularly meritorious days, such as a Guru Rinpoche day, a particularly large amount of merit can also be destroyed. The speaker urges joyful effort and vigilance toward ego-formation, especially in solitude. By the example of a 79-year-old who lays bricks, it is shown how physical exertion in service of the Buddhist institution accumulates merit and allows understanding to bloom in the mind. The text closes with the remark that even a fully awakened being such as Guru Rinpoche still paid attention to his actions.

If one is purely red, that is the weekend of the new Janas. What do the new Janas mean? The new Janas were originally taught, in their origin, as when Buddhism arrived in Tibet. From the beginning, Samababha Gurumritsche granted the foundations in the Sravaka and Pratheka Buddha Path, in the Haryana Path, etc. It had the various viewpoints that existed at that time, which were much debated and discussed in India. All the tools that exist in Buddhism, we must understand, we do not have to learn all things. We do not have to know everything. We only need, when we learn something, when we listen, that we listen to those, nowhere is it as important as in the Buddhist teaching, to draw the consequences from what we hear. Florian told me yesterday, where he was screaming, in a book, that if one practices a Dharma, that is, if one follows the Path of the Buddha, one has, as it were, the whole time fear of death. But not fear of death due to dying, but fear of death before we have implemented the teaching of the Buddha in our mind. Point 1, Point 2, that we have so much merit, in order to be reborn as a human in the next life. Point 3, that we have so much merit in the next life, in order to come together again with the teaching of the Buddha. I often mention the example of the monks and nuns, because when they wear the robe of the Buddha, that is, when monks or nuns, when one sees them sitting somewhere, why is that so meritorious? The meritorious thing is that merely seeing the robe, the robe of monks and nuns, can. This experience we have made here at this place, it can lead to the fact that people who are ill have a much greater feeling of a healing process, that the illness becomes less. We experienced this here in 1992, when Lama Peme d'Orche, with Lama Choctodorche and Lama Tashidantru, these three Lamas, from Berlin simply looked at these various objects and then they also looked at this object. And there was the couple Zimirk here above and Mrs. Zimirk was doing very, very badly, she was not doing well at all. And then Mrs. Zimirk, when she saw these three monks, immediately had a relief from suffering, as the strength and power of her illness decreased. When we encounter the teaching of the Buddha, when we see it, then in the environment there, where we are, there is a kind of merit field. Merit field means that in the moment where we come together with it, we have accumulated merit in previous lives, in order to meet it at all, then it is truly meritorious if we have an appreciation for it and thirdly, if we see it, not only an appreciation, but also a kind of inner joy is there. What happened immediately, when the three Lamas came here to the place with a horde of Vessis? It was immediately that it was the beginning of something, which the 16th Kamerpaar looked out for. The couple Zimirk, this institution became a children's holiday camp in 1966 and 1974 or 1975. Mrs. Zimirk and Mr. Zimirk moved here, they had previously worked together in a chemical factory somewhere, is that down there? Is it down there? Southern. Southern, yes, yes, down there is Southern. Kalle in the map below. Southern. And the two of them were really dealing with toxic substance concentrations. And here they always thought, oh man, hey, if somewhere, they would like to work in such an institution. And then a place in the children's holiday camp, was then suddenly almost free, which they had noticed. That was not their company, so she was not from the beginning at vorderen Kranbau-Költen, but they had very likely applied for a Schlangen-Mischel beforehand. And then the two of them came here. The two did not know what it meant that they come, which, what their future brings. But in the moment, when the three came to the place, they had that two, one can say two and a half, actually three years of being maintained and protected after the turn, so 89, so let’s say from November, October 89, 99, 91 and 92. So they protected this place for three and a half years and then it became a Darmplatz. While they left here back in 89, this place would have fallen into disrepair. And it would have been much more difficult to take it over. They had all the rooms, everything in good condition, all the rooms here were. The beds were all made up with headboard-dockets. When you walked in, it was like in a hotel? The room there, behind it was the Central Committee of the Communist Party, there was an office, Larkang, the library was... Yes, exactly, now it is the audience room, the old library room and upstairs the living room, the Grandier above, all of these, all the single rooms had beds in them, the attendant rooms had two beds in them, in the Lama’s living room there were also beds everywhere, all made up. It is all clean. And so they essentially gave this place to the teaching of the Buddha. Why am I telling you this? Something is very important. There are many situations where we very quickly accumulate a lot of merit, and then there are simultaneously situations where we do not accumulate a lot of merit, but even destroy merit. If we ask ourselves what leads to accumulating or earning merit, or losing it, I saw earlier that Christ had circulated [a message], today is a Guru Budschild day, according to the calendar, today it is not yet, so today is a Guru Budschild day. If one practices on a Guru Budschild day, if one does anything, it is a particularly meritorious day, because it is also a particularly meritorious day, it is simultaneously a day where we do the opposite, if we have a day where we earn a lot and if we do something painful, we have negative merit. Our problem, which we have again and again and again and which I have also noticed, is that although we receive the exact explanation of how we should behave, we do not behave that way. It is not about whether I say something here or Lama Kunger-Dorzsche says something. The Flurren told me, he had attended the public lecture given by Lama Kunger-Dorzsche. I have to listen to it on the internet sometime. There he spoke about how people deal with the Buddhist teaching. He apparently criticized quite strongly how we deal with the Buddhist teaching. Julian told me that he also said this in the teachings during the sessions. People, deal with it properly. So if they said that in the public lecture and I said it in the teachings. And that is what I constantly say. What is it, why do we not deal with it properly? Because really, we are still the Mahn- [sic] of a religion. In no vocational training would we behave as we do with the Dama [sic]. No one would do that. You would be thrown out of the workplace immediately. If it says, a pinch of salt, or do we use a pinch of washing powder. It also looks like salt. What we need is to be moved. Death may have already occurred. That we are internally on alert on one side. And simultaneously this joyful trust and we have the expectation that if I walk this path, like an elephant in the dry season, always taking one step after another, then results must come out, all the time a continuous state of joyful effort. Joyful, healing effort. Then we can no longer cultivate excuses in our mind. That simply no longer works. If I look at Wolf now, you are 79 now, right? 79. Which people do you know between, I do not mean myself now, but I mean so from, between 70 and 80 years old. And who does such things. Upstairs, in the back room, the bricks there. Why do I mention that? It is Physical exertion, right? Building that wall over there was also a physical exertion. Also with the bricks up there, you did a lot of that on your own. And it is more beautifully built than the rest. Even Klaus said that to me. Why am I mentioning this? It is exhausting, it is difficult. It is not as if it goes very easily. And you have two situations. You receive a Buddhist institution. You beautify this institution, so that people say that there is something within as well. And now you accumulate so much merit that you, you can accumulate a great deal of merit. And when you open your mind, then in your mind, because you accumulate so much merit, the understanding will unfold. Do you understand what I mean? It unfolds. And then you understand that it is so. You are right, there are relatively few opportunities here to construct your own ego properly. So where you can create such an ego-space for yourself. Because you also have someone there. You are confronted in a relationship. Do you rotate? Are you even there? Yes, I am muted. Ah, okay, okay, okay. So, since you rather have a relationship, you do everything. And therefore, because you do so much, and you really cannot, because you are always dependent on other persons, it is much less, it is much more difficult, to make a proper ego-crisis. For example, in my one square meter, I always have my saw and screws and glue. I can constantly assemble an ego-crisis, because I am alone. I do not live in a Sangha. I live alone. Julian is all the time, he gets beaten up by his students, by the colleagues, by the work here, he gets kicked out here, kicked out there. Someone constantly hits him on the shin with a book when he does something here, at the wrong time, at the wrong time, too fast, too little, and so on. We have an ego-challenge all the time. And we must be careful that, for example, people like me, who live alone, that we do not build an ego-box. We can do a lot, I sit at home and I tune, ah, the book is finished. I must myself, although I know in a way from explanation and texts, I can no longer be reborn in every area of existence. But I still behave within myself as if I could land there tomorrow. I am in a state of alert all the time. I do not rest in it, because I see the danger, when I am in my own apartment, that I indulge in self-image. Yes, I must always have awareness over myself, because, as long as I, as they say, am in Nagarp, that is like one, when he is at the beginning in Nagarp, as one said earlier in Kamarp, that is like a Garuda in an egg, which has not yet hatched. When the body dies and breaks, then the Garuda unfolds. So purely theoretically, if I eventually kick the bucket, that wings then grow for me. But since I have no experience whether that is really so, whether I am even that far along, that is variously my, I do not rely on it, that I say, I have enough merit. I could purely theoretically do that. If one looks at it very logically, these whole decades, I do not assume that I already have enough. Like Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava, he for example said, he does not need to look at anything anymore. He is a fully Awakened one, and what does he say about the Jescherssocke? He attends to his actions finely like me. That means, he still looked at it, that he does not make an action that leaves a painful impression on beings. He at least still behaved in such a way that in the mutual interdependence of phenomena, in which he is embedded, he still accumulated merit. And then one can say, someone who has attained awakening, he is free, he is the Free one par excellence. And nevertheless he was subject to the The consequences of actions he began in previous lives, even though he was the Awakened One. Take the example where the Buddha said he had a severe headache. Why did he have a headache? Why does one have headaches? Because it came, there is still something there. In recent months, I really don’t know how much nonsense and soup I still have somewhere. I have so many and so constantly, again and again, headaches. I have had them since childhood, but now in recent times. If for the Buddha the headache was a sign of painful karmic matters with which he was entangled, how much more must that be the case for me, that I have karmically entangled matters, from things from a previous life. If people then say, yes, well, for me everything is quite fine, then it may be, for example, that our practice is not profound. It may be that we are superficial. It may be that we accumulate merit. Just surface merit. But we do not know how profound it is. Take the example of Peter, you took refuge directly with the 17th Karmapa. I know of no one who took refuge directly there. That it happened at all must be a great merit, that it happened. You know what happens with the toads I have arranged. When we return from Czechia, the figure that bought them, the toads are gone. The merit is gone. So we must, we cannot rest and say, oh, I have enough merit. We must look honestly into the mirror and then see where it is comfortable. I do not take into account my ego, nor your ego. In the teaching, I do not take into account. It also makes no sense to take into account. Our little games, that we have somewhere, let’s say, I would behave here in such a way that everyone would, ah, then I would have the feeling that I would be deceiving everyone. I cannot say it differently. I would really be afraid that I would be deceiving everyone. If one comes here as a Lama from a background, as a motive, background, Botan, background, Nord, Nepal, Manau and so on, or from Ladakh. If one comes here as a Lama, then one already carries the burden of one’s own culture and must then face a foreign culture. For example with the Japanese, they really do not like that. If one picks one’s nose in their presence, that is totally disgusting for them, if one picks one’s nose in their presence. If one reads and does not really step away. Culturally it is like that. I had said to Dorothea at the time, when Dorothea said, ah, man, that is all so difficult with the Lama and ah, man, hey, and then I said, you have a training as a nurse. Now it was rather a theoretical question. Of course I knew that she, I said, you have a training as a nurse, right. Yes, of course. Do you remember how much you had to learn? Yes, I say, I know that a nurse back then, I do not know how it is today, that they back then had to learn much more than we in ten years of Lama teaching always learn. And for her, in the learning it is not rote memorization, but she must know how to do hygienically, how injections, tablets, how the beds, how the care, how one must position. That is not a theoretical western thing of the nurse. She must be able to do it practically. And the Buddhist teaching is just as much a practical matter. We, and many of you, so also those, you are hearing this now, we are still very few, but many of you, who perhaps will hear it someday, if you have anything to do with Tibetan Buddhism, the probability is very high that you were a monk or nun in a Buddhist family in a previous life. And you were reborn in the West because everything has fallen apart, in Tibet the Buddhism has fallen apart, because most Tibetans only They have listened, they have thought about it, they remained in theory and did not learn how it really is to properly position a sick person. They read in a book how to do it, read how to give injections. But they never tried giving injections or positioning, in order to compare it with the nurse in training. And what we must do, we must apply it, implement it in practice. We actually implement practice when we notice that we have disturbing feelings. If, unfortunately, as in the current situation that we know, it happens that someone has disturbing feelings, cannot cope with them, and then feels that it makes no sense to continue. I cannot cope with it. Whenever the thought is, I cannot cope with it, then it does not lie in the external, but in the decision that we surrender to our ego, our habits. We cultivate our habits. If Peter had not been reading at Kamapa, I do not know a pre-Kamapa, I do not know a pre-intention, and when Peter returned from Kamapa, Peter was like transformed. The previous habits are still there, but nevertheless he had transformed himself very strongly. We speak very directly. And Peter made all the presentations. Peter accumulates an enormous amount of merit thereby, that he puts these recordings on the internet and on the internet there, because the people listen to them, rather under the conditions of the fishermen, accumulates rather a lot of merit. The merit gives us the possibility that we can keep coming together with it. Our danger consists in that we remain in our self-made concept. We must go through it. Our concepts, which we have, go through, that means, we must really practice, learn to observe one’s own mind. Why? Go through, that means, exceed, go beyond, you see, exceed, one could even say, overwrite, that we say, what am I thinking there? Why do I think so? Why does one become simpler for me? Why do I think, I don’t need that? Or what freedom in the Dharma am I seeking for myself? This place has so many stories. I remember, back then, when we still lived with many people there in Berlin, that was no longer really, but lived in Berlin, and where they then said, well, now it is planned to do something, and how the people in Berlin said, oh man, such a nice weekend, I really want to go out with the children and to tapize. Or now drive home. Yes, we must be with the children, they must go to the Bagen. That is an egoistic way out, so bathing in Berlin, Wannsee, or so, not Rufensee, but Wannsee. Or the people came, they then came out, they did not come out to do Dharma practice. Yes, we are driving out, it is nice and warm, at the Rufensee we go bathing with the children, then the people came once and first, if they came on Saturdays, they drove away from Berlin early and then appeared here on the premises in the afternoon at three. Those who were still at the Rufensee, then they were at the Rufen- in the Rufensee huts, then they were bathing with the children. If we set out on our way to a Dharma place, then we should not think on the way, well, now, ah yes, how do I still do something else before I start with the Anstrengen. For many people, the Buddhist activities are so exhausting, because we have ideas about the Dharma practice, without practicing. If it sounds complicated, we have often spoken about it, Nöndro, how does the Nöndro begin? The first four foundational thoughts, the mind to the teaching of the Brother, that is how it begins, prostration. If at the beginning naturally prostration and then refuge. One recites the refuge, Solama every Buddha-Dharma-Sangha and Protector, and connects that with prostration. Why was the Nöndro system designed this way? In the Glössers, people had time. And in the Glössers, when they started with the Nöndro, they started and did not stop. So they did not even pause for a month; rather, they started on one day and then, every day, some did it so that they performed the whole thing every day, while others first performed the 100,000 prostrations and refuge. Then you recite the 117 mantra 100,000 times, but before that you still recited the beginning for it, namely the four basic lengths, then only in refuge. Then, once you have done that, you performed the mandala and you did not interrupt; you then performed all the cycles, then you again performed the basics, and then you performed the mandala, and then you performed Guru Yoga, in the Guru Yoga. As long as the nature of mind has not awakened in you, you must perform the complete ritual of the four basic lengths, thoughts, of refuge; with that you must also begin your Guru Yoga. So you first performed the Guru Yoga 100,000, 111 times, and then it is that automatically a focus on a particular deity arises. Very often people just finish it; there is also a YouTube video about it. Then, when people come, they have essentially performed the steps from the 9th time, and then they come and ask, when they are finished, that is a total of 5 times 100,000, i.e., 111,000 practices, 5 times, and then you say, yes, what should I do now? Normally, when you go through the process, due to your karmic entanglements that you have, an affinity for a particular deity automatically arises in your mental continuum. If I were to say, what has been my ma

Was bedeutet die neuen Janas? Also wo du so einen Ego-Raum dir schaffen kannst. Weil du auch da jemand hast. Du bist konfrontiert in einer Beziehung. Du rotierst? Bist du überhaupt da? Ja, ich bin doch stummgestellt. Achso, okay, okay, okay.
