The exclusive recognition of the oneness of Allah (tawhid) is the sole foundation for salvation, while any form of associating partners (shirk) nullifies all good deeds and leads to perdition.
If you associate anything with Allah, your deeds will surely be nullified, and you will be among the losers.
The text defines tawhid, the absolute oneness of Allah, as the central principle of Islam and the common message of all prophets. It sets shirk, the association of gods or intermediaries, against tawhid as the greatest sin, which nullifies all good deeds. The preacher warns against distancing oneself from Allah through false veneration or reliance on human intermediaries, since Allah is closer to a person than their jugular vein. It is emphasized that even the Prophet Muhammad advised his daughter Fatima to rely solely on Allah and not to hope for his paternal intercession. The sermon calls on the believers to place tawhid at the center of their lives and to be vigilant against shirk. It concludes with the recitation of Sūrat al-Ikhlāṣ, which proclaims the uniqueness and singularity of God. The text serves as an instructive reminder of the correct relationship with God and the necessity of pure worship.

There is no god but Allah!
(10.10.2025)
The most important fundamental principle that those who wish to serve the Exalted Allah must learn is Tawhid – the Oneness of Allah.[1] Tawhid, one of the central themes of the noble Qurʾān, means the firm conviction that only the Exalted Allah is worthy of worship and veneration.[2] Tawhid means not attributing to any other being the attributes that only Allah, the Exalted, possesses.[3] Tawhid is the common call and the common message of all the Prophets.[4] It means acknowledging the beautiful names and exalted attributes of Allah as He has determined them for Himself. Whoever believes with full conviction in the testimony "Lā ilāha illāllāh – There is no god but Allah" and lives accordingly will – according to the glad tidings of our Prophet ﷺ – attain Paradise.[5]
Honored Believers!
Where there is no Tawhid, there reigns Shirk. Shirk means believing that Allah has a partner, an equal, or a similar one in His essence, in His attributes, in His actions, or in worship.[6] The stance of the Exalted Allah on this matter is clear and unambiguous: "Allah does not forgive that partners be set up with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.[7]" Another form of Shirk is using intermediaries because one thinks that Allah is far from people. Our Exalted Lord makes this truth clear in the following verse: "Indeed, to Allah belongs the pure religion. And those who take others besides Him as protectors [say], 'We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position.'"[8]
Allah informs man that He is closer to him than his jugular vein[9] and that He knows all the actions of His servants down to the smallest detail.[10]
Another characteristic of the Mushrik / polytheists is that they believe the beings they worship alongside Allah will save them on the Day of Judgment. Yet our Lord commands us to protect ourselves and our families from that day,[11] on which no one can benefit another.[12] How meaningful are the words of our Prophet ﷺ to his daughter: "O my daughter Fatima! Do not rely solely on the fact that I am your father. Fulfill your duty of worship toward your Lord. Otherwise, by Allah, even I cannot benefit you in the least."[13]
Shirk is the greatest sin, which nullifies all good deeds. Our Exalted Lord makes this truth clear with the following words: "If you associate others with Allah, your deeds will surely be nullified, and you will be among the losers."[14]
Honored Brothers and Sisters!
If we do not want to be among the losers in the Hereafter, we should place Tawhid – the belief in the Oneness of Allah – at the center of our lives. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The greatest sin with Allah is to associate an equal with our Creator Allah."[15] Thus he calls upon us to be attentive, sensitive, and conscious with regard to Shirk – the association of partners. Let us follow the call of our Prophet.
I would like to conclude my Khutbah with the meaning of Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ, the Sūrah that teaches us Tawhid: Say: "He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent." [16]

Lâ İlâhe İllallah! Es gibt keinen Gott außer Allah!
(10.10.2025)
