Listening to Dharma stories, particularly from the Jātaka narratives, enables the listener to look beyond the surface of everyday life and attain wisdom that leads the heart to be broad and deep.
The text tells a Jātaka story about a gifted archer who lived in a previous existence of the Buddha. He kills a tiger and later 49 robbers who threaten his wife. The narrative is presented as a Dharma program that is meant to broaden the listener's heart through simple stories from the Jātaka narratives. The speaker emphasizes that listening to Dharma helps to see beyond the surface and attain wisdom. The story serves as a comparison and life lesson that shows how one can act in difficult situations. It is pointed out that one should not be too worldly, but should also not despise worldly activities. The text connects the old story with the present by presenting it as a source of insight for today's life.

There was a fish near the bank. It looked up from the water and saw a jackal. The jackal had torn off a piece of flesh, red in color, and had eaten it. The fish also wanted to eat a piece of flesh. Another bird also saw the jackal tearing off a piece of flesh, red in color, and eating it. The bird also wanted to eat a piece of flesh. The fish then swam toward the surface of the water, getting closer and closer to the jackal. The jackal asked, "Who will get the piece of flesh that I, the jackal, have torn off? Go eat it. Give it to me. It is not you who tore it off to deceive. You who tore it off did not eat it. I gladly accept."
The Buddhist Dhamma Practice of the Thai Nation, with the Dhamma Practice Program, Harun, is a New Year celebration. It is not a major event, but rather a search for value in the present moment. It involves the recitation of the Jataka tales and the recitation of the Dhamma, which will lead the hearts of the listeners far and deep. It compares actions to be lessons of life, enabling those who listen to the Dhamma to look beyond themselves with eyes endowed with wisdom once again.
When we listen to the Dhamma, in this single listening session, we will be transformed. Whether it is a story, a narrative of what someone did, where, and how, or a discussion from matters of society, livelihood, or governance, it is not just one thing. This topic is very relevant to the head. Whether this person went to do this, meaning they acted in matters of wealth, or whether they followed worldly duties more or less, there is a great deal. Whether it is wholesome or unwholesome, it is interwoven. Or what we encounter in the present, or looking back at past events that have already passed, sometimes we have forgotten them, but when we recall them, or look with eyes endowed with wisdom, we gain much more than what the ordinary mind holds. In learning, we gain experience, we gain various abilities, in one way or another. Therefore, listening is beneficial.
The teachings of the Lord Buddha, what He told and taught the monks, what He told and taught the nuns, sometimes He would also recount, and then bring up some story. If it comes from the past lives of His own person, or if it is called a Jataka tale, a Jataka, this is because of birth, not just the birth in previous lives of the Lord Buddha. If it is a story of other matters that exist in that life, it might recount the past. Oh, bad, like, we should not be confused. But we will demonstrate, we will get to the point. The original stories will come together, and then the parts that are small, tiny, they will also have an increase in quantity. Let it be noted. Oh, right, the point here, do not be too worldly. But being worldly, having a worldly mind, having a mind that is greedy, having a mind that is attached to things that should be obtained, and also to things that should not be obtained, which are bad, yet one obtains them anyway, creating beauty and attachment. One wants to leave the monastery to go find an old woman. The mind gives rise to a reaction, giving rise to lust and delight, in some way or another. Not knowing, not paying attention, not being heedful, I came to ask the Lord Buddha. "Leave the monastery." So she then told some story, saying that this monk, he was born as a great archer before, but in the end, he did not survive. She mentioned the story of this monk being born as a great archer in a certain place. At that time, our ancestor was born as Tawskath Tivaras, overseeing the affairs of the human world of the devas on both sides, residing in the celestial palace. Having a position as head, it can be called Tawskath. In that era, this monk was born in the Parame family. We went to learn various arts, especially archery, from the city of Takshila. When learning various arts, at that place, the teacher would also observe the aptitude of his own students. At that point, if any student had aptitude, was diligent, was very skilled, if there was a position, he would hand over the position to that person, or have them teach the younger students, teach them in turn. Or if it was said that one had to travel back to one's own home, we would give some gifts. The gifts would be various, they might be objects, they might be special arts, they might be books, or even a daughter. In this case, this Parame student was so skilled that the teacher gave his daughter to him as well. Her skill in archery was such that she was called Jullab Tannukabandit. That is, Bandit is an expert in archery, thinking that perhaps he is not big, here, or that Jullab, perhaps he is small, meaning he might not look impressive, might not be frightening. Think about it. This is a word like a Sanskrit name itself. A Sanskrit name from this story, that is, when the teacher gave the daughter of Tannu to Jullab Tannukabandit, they would then return to the city of Pranasri, the city from which they originally came. On the way walking toward the palace, they had to cross a path, going through a forest, going through a thicket, going through something, passing through a certain area where there was a wild elephant in the forest, right by the palace, as usual, breaking into the community's house, destroying whatever, destroying the dwelling. Why is that area of that country like that, with no one wanting to live there because they are afraid of the wild elephant? Not really, right by the palace, the elephant, the elephant, that is, the elephant is big right by the palace, seen from far away. Not letting it come from far away, it is in the forest, it must encounter something. He himself had the skill of archery, so he took his own bow, which he had received from the teacher, along with his arrows. He himself had 50 arrows. So he stood up, he lifted the bow, he stood up.
Determine the mind and practice according to what the teacher taught. The hunter saw people coming, not a single one missing. How did they enter the kitchen? With the power of their running, they came in, intending to take the work, and both of them stabbed the workers. This hunter looked at them. Determine the mind and practice according to what the teacher taught. The bullet went through the body. With their own strength, with confidence, and with great force, the bullet hit the hunter’s head. The mouth entered and struck the hunter’s head. With the power of this bullet, if the bullet exits through the tail, what will be left of this hunter? Let it die well, let it die on the spot. Running fast, the wind descended, and it died near the base of the tree. The Khapandit tree. Because of the power of your tree, this news spread out. It was said, “Oh, the hunter is dead. The hunter is dead.” The villagers were happy, because there were no bandits to fear anymore. Those who had left the path returned, gathered together, and continued to eat their food. The sky over the Khapandit tree received gratitude from the villagers, then continued walking, entering that forest, that jungle, for the sake of the good. If the bullet exits from one side, then continue walking as if in the city of Phannasiri. In that jungle, besides the bandits, there are also bandits who are robbers. In that forest, there are 50 robbers who wait to rob travelers. The villagers were already aware of this Khapandit era. It would be better not to go. Because in this forest, there are also robbers. Hmm, if we say we do not go this way, it will take a long time. I want to return quickly and continue the journey to Phannasiri. Is that okay? I have skills. I will try to take the risk. So I walked in, together with the Lord. We went together. Then, we walked along the path. We encountered more robbers than usual. But at that time, the robbers were resting, eating meat, and chatting together. As for the Khapandit side, the entrance to the food was small. There was nothing else. We knew that the meat-eaters were robbers. But with hunger, we observed their movements so they would not know what we were doing. The robbers were suspicious, each seeing differently. As for the 50 robbers, they saw these two people walking at a distance. As for the Khapandit side, they saw the 50 robbers eating meat and looking around. One robber said, “Hey, what are you doing? Look over here.” So they grabbed each other’s hands. Hey, this person is not here to insult. Look, there is a Khapandit with us. Look at that. The snake already knew that this person is not here to insult. We should not be arrogant. Look carefully at what they want. Will they come to fight, or just pass by? But they did not ask themselves. They sent one person to ask. It was cut off. It was completely cut off. The robbers stood up. They had to bite well. Look at that. With the agility and sharpness of the Khapandit’s skills at that moment, it was cut off. The snake stood up. There were still 49 bullets left. Let the teacher come to 50. Has the elephant come? One more? There are 49 left. And all 49 bullets were fired. Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Ha, 49 robbers died. They fell. They rolled over. Thinking that they were the teacher’s daughters, right? And then they were given to Sin Ek as well. But why did the heart secretly like the idea of the robbers? So that they did not have to directly fight the robbers, together with the robbers, even with their own husbands? This is where the light is heard. Establish a vow. In the name of this Khapandit, named Wajula, it is probably not a lie. Maybe take the form of a small animal. It will love the appearance without suspicion. So it is good that Jula means small. At the same time, in the part where the robbers are seen. Oh, from this robber, the mind is captured. The heart also has attachment and wavering. Because the mind is turned. “What did you do wrong?” It is difficult because there is the Lord as an additional factor helping. As for the robbers, they are also in a hurry. The children here, oh, it is no longer possible. They are all dead. But as for the Lord, whose heart has just encountered the robbers, this person, from the first day, is waiting to die well. Huthaich or Pawat Kratan, or something like that. The minds of those who think badly also go badly. This is also an obstacle that we should hear. Not an obstacle that will make us know that, oh, look, my husband. We will return to the city of Phannasiri, living with the Khapandit, who is dead. And then the robbers. When they wait to die, how can a woman fight robbers? And you also do not have a place where a woman can die and do this. Because they had to ask to go with the robbers. They did not know, so they left this comparison here. Everything, like antique in our hearts. Seen in 2006, or whatever. Small combustion, no need to hope for exemption inside. Soon Shawn rance will have couples with dogs learning what they do not wait for SO guided, looking suspicious. At the same time, the ear, the robber kuah doos tightening, did not meet another man who deceived, or that we did something that did not please her a little, and she would harm us like this too. Okay, so we go out this way. Then we two will walk. We will walk to a place where we will rest comfortably. If the fact is that I know the way to the robbers, and I have a plan for the man, I must shoot this person first. I will come to stay together. That is not acceptable.
Then they set off toward a small river located in that forest. This particular small river, when it swells, is said to be a sign for the wife of the king. It is an area where it will rise; sometimes water comes in and fills it up. When it is time to cross over, the hunter named Hu Na Jon called out to inform them. We discussed that there is a crocodile at this spot. Let’s do this: I will go listen to that. Take the clothes of whatever you brought with you and go ahead. I will come back to carry you. Then they all walked on. It is a choice, you know. When Hu Na Jon walked on, he stepped into the water, just emerging as he continued walking, pretending that he was looking for something, searching for something. He thought that he had gone to catch people. Warren Hill-back voted. The gentleman Bittens, until the group of recept 🌻. They huddled together, huddled together. June went back and said, “With this, you must hope.” She went back and said, “You told me that you, here, touch people who have never been intimate with each other more easily than a husband. We are not your husband. Yet you will touch us, who are not your husband, even more than a husband. And if we take you away, you will touch others who are not your husband, even more than a husband. I will not stay with you. I will let you go so that you can change right now. Take all the belongings, the property, the things of yours and the burdens of the baskets, and go. What about the sky? It is just like that. Sitting in the morning, the rice fell. It is at the edge of the house. If you want to go, you do not dare to go with it. All that was just truly at the edge. All that was just from the burdens of the baskets, which have already died. All that was just from the hunter named Jon, who said he would take you to have a place to stay, have food to eat, etc., is also gone. The rice fell in the morning. What should we do? Crying for what was built? What? There is nothing. What should we do? Then strength is like a bird, flying around. Returning to this place, making a place for you to see at the edge, very high. The little one also stood at the edge of the bank, looking down into the water. He saw his own face, with red flesh. He had eaten flesh that was shining in the water. So he released the flesh, his face returned to normal, and he said he would release the flesh. “Come, let me bite you. Take me right away. Release my face through the gap where I am lying. You may ask the woman too. That is the end. At the edge, a deity appeared. One must be able to speak. You may ask the woman. Why are you so hot, my lord? Your face is good, your form, your water, beautiful. You are lying hidden. Right now, you are hot. Why are you hot? Everyone else can see it easily. The fault of oneself is hard to see. You, indeed, are a tiger from the head, a tiger from the lover. There is sorrow, there is lust, even more than us. That is a man who has a contrary mind, indeed. At the edge, even just by making a thought arise, that is the mind diving in. That is intention. That is being a lover. That is not yet having transgressed through physical contact, or words, or anything. Just thinking. That is adultery with fish and birds. The antaṭṭhāna gives it away. Let that person remain there alone. There is no place to rely on. What should one do? Where should one go? One is still thinking of taking it. I will enter the city. I will find a new place to rely on. I will find companions. I will proceed in this manner, with the burdens of the baskets. That is the monk in this room who has the intention to leave the order. In fact, the one who is the old king of this monk’s room, that is this person, who was the husband before. This time, he will be the husband who is a monk. Just this: a monk leaving the order is death, indeed. This monk’s room thought of it again. Oh, let us collect a lot. At that time, with mindfulness gained from the exhortation of the Buddha, he became a great ascetic, sitting right there. He did not leave the order. This is the story of the Jullathana Khahak Jataka. It is a Jataka tale. In the Jataka, before the Buddha, the king was born as Sakka, the king of the gods, and fought with a certain monk. There are other similar stories. A certain monk, this time, did not go to the old king. That is, he went to pay respects in the village and saw a woman sitting improperly. He himself saw her and arose with lust, wanting to leave the order. The Buddha of the Jataka then told the story of the Phra Tum Jataka. In the story of the Jullathana Tum Jataka, it is because the Buddha himself had once been born as King Mahakassapa, named Pratuma Mara, the eldest brother who was arrogant. He set off from the house, walking along the path, the situation came, not like the condition that could be spoken of, following along. Then he was left to be alone, suffering hardship. Because he encountered hardship, where the food was lacking, what should he do? How would he find a way in the forest, how to eat? He could not endure it. In this situation, one should consider that it is a person attached to taste. And then, when he himself did not eat, indeed, it would arise with great suffering, wanting to think. And then, right here, this is the teaching of Dhamma, that one must do things that one has obtained, but with the teaching of Dhamma, one is no longer attached. One can do it. The wife, the husband, a little bit. So, Ior, not eating. Two, large, indone, turkey, there is, not iboinger area. The insect and the medicine, then Give, four. The old king of the seventh younger brother died. The sixth died. 5, 4, 3, 2, all died. We have flesh from the elder brother, because the animals kept by the elder brother are six pieces. Because, from the old king of the six younger brothers, today when I came to the seventh, the hope that he would have to eat flesh together, was defeated, and what to do? Then the king of the elder brother, fear, must die, indeed. The elder brother.
So let’s do this, sister. I have more than six inches of creep from the flesh of all the Grand adherence. Listen carefully to this point, think a little, and then come. Look at the comparison in this yarn, kittenman & regul, same universal. It is so strange and so gliously. I forgot, forgot the highlight. Missing, missing, missing close. This lay-in must be this. Traditionally targets encounter with the various thieves. How will it come to us? Will it come to catch us? Or what will we do? We come to this. Traditionally targets with the various thieves. Defense comes to the matter of the gate. Pour it. Sister, eat it. Then, oh, it comes all the time. Every time. But one side is already broken. The leg is broken, damn it. Because the thieves with the equipment say, “Hey, why let a woman ask?” If the leg is blind, then the equipment says, “Hey, why give raw flesh?” That leg, that leg. So, part 7, sister, I think it will continue. This must definitely die. This time, go to a place by the river. Heard a sound: “Oh, oh, oh, oh. Hey, the sound comes like that. It must come from inside the river.” Hmm, look at what is in the river. There is a small boat. People try to come here. There are people here. Help, help, help. With the virtue of seeing people’s hearts, I do not want to harm anyone. I want to help people. So I went to look. In the small boat, what is there? Oh, it is a disabled man. Both arms are disabled, missing on both sides. Then the nose is crooked, the ear is crooked. The face is not at all. It is red. But the arms and legs are not with it. That is, they are the same. But sometimes we love people whom we hate less. It is like that. When this one hates the virtue more and more, hey, I like that disabled man. The liking for the disabled man is greater than taking the disabled man as a husband. If they think carefully about this sister, is it possible that if I, my own husband, both said to be kept, people do not like it. When they do not like it, if I do not like it more, that is, the disabled man is not the one I like, so I deceive. I do not like it, but I like it less. When I like it less, the body likes it more. The person we like more than the one we do not like, right? So I thought I would kill my own husband, my own husband. And leave one man. Why? That person must be the husband. So the virtue placed a plan. She spoke in a tone that we have waited to die, hey, from the sister, I must have this person. He does not care for us, so it is a son, hey. Therefore, I went to make a vow with the Lord of the valley of the thieves. We must go to worship at the regular place of the valley of the thieves.
