The complex situation of Christianity in Ukraine after the war requires an international scholarly dialogue in order to analyse ecclesial, social, and geopolitical challenges and to explore paths toward unity and reconciliation.

At the centre of the proceedings will be questions of ecclesiology, ecclesial unity, dialogue, and reconciliation, the relations between the Orthodox church jurisdictions in Ukraine, the role of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine, as well as the position of the Russian Church and the broader Orthodox challenges in the postwar reality.

The text announces an international scholarly conference taking place from 30 November to 2 December 2026 in Athens. The event is organised by the European Institute for Canon Law and Church Law of the Holy Metropolis of Peristeri in cooperation with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The patronage is held by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Ministry of Education.
