The Promised Messiah demonstrated through his boundless gratitude towards God and his helpers an ethical model that the community should regard as a standard for its own devotion and humility.
The Faiz M. S. expressed boundless gratitude even for the smallest service that someone rendered to him.
The text is an English translation of a Friday address by the Caliph of the Ahmadiyya, which deals with the gratitude of the 'Promised Messiah' Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. The speaker quotes an announcement from 1899 in which the Messiah called his followers to financial donations for the community and the spread of Islam. He specifically commends various helpers who supported the mission through monetary donations, emigration to Qadian, or personal service. The text emphasises that the Messiah himself always showed deep gratitude for every service, even the smallest. As an example, an anecdote is told in which the Messiah offered money for a bowl of faluda that a non-Ahmadi had prepared for him and, after the other person declined, prayed for him. Further examples illustrate his humility and gratitude, such as when he made do with little food when nothing else was available. The core message is that true gratitude towards God and towards people was a central virtue of the Messiah and serves as a model for the community.

The Lord of the worlds, the Greatest. I bear witness that there is none other than God. I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. I bear witness that there is none other than God. I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of the worlds. I testify that the Messenger is not above the Prayer. He is above the Prayer. He is above the completion. Peace be upon you. I testify in Allah, O Allah! And I testify that Muhammad, peace be upon him, peace be upon him, peace be upon him. Peace be upon you. Peace be upon you. Peace be upon you. Hold us. Hold us. Hold us. The efforts that the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, undertook to hoist the banner of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, in the world are very evident. Yet the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, was always deeply grateful to those helpers who never ceased to support him in the fulfillment of this mission. Thus, the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, called for a fundraising campaign in an announcement dated October 4, 1899, and mentioned therein the sincere members of the Jamaat who provided financial support. He said that it is the practice of God that every community of God’s people, in its early stages, he said, even our Prophet, peace be upon him, repeatedly called upon the Companions to donate, with Abu Bakr leading the way. Therefore, one should step forward with greater resolve, without hesitation, to offer assistance. Let each person donate according to their means. At that time, he called for funds for the Langar Khana, for this was also a central concern. Guests came to learn about Islam and to give ear to its claim. The point is, up to here he said, donate according to your abilities for the Langar Khana. I wish, if possible, for such an arrangement that we are freed from the headaches of the Langar Khana, so that we can devote ourselves entirely to our work. That is, the task of spreading Islam and disseminating the message of the Holy Prophet, so that we can focus more on it, and that for the guests who come, there is a separate organization. He further said, so that we may engage ourselves unimpeded and our time suffers no loss, and those who support us will ultimately experience the support of God. I cannot bring myself to write down that at the head of this dedication stands our exceedingly sincere, beloved of Allah, exalted be His Name, Mawla Hakeem Nureddin. He not only provided financial help but severed himself from all worldly ties, donned the robe of the Dervishes, performed the migration from his homeland, and settled in Qadian until the day of his death. He is always ready. If I wish, I can send him to the East or to the West. That is, for the proclamation of the message of Islam. For me, those people regarding the Ahmadiyya are fully established on the foundation. Ashab al-Suffa, wa ma adrakum Ashab al-Suffa, which means, they are the inhabitants of the Soffa. And what do you know, what are the inhabitants of the Soffa? In second place, after the aforementioned venerable one, stands my beloved of Allah, exalted be His Name, Mawla Abdul Karim Sasiyalkoti. God, the Exalted, had already granted him no inclination toward worldly offices and fame. But now he has entirely renounced worldly thoughts and taken his place at this threshold. Day and night he uses his intellect beyond his strength in the service of the religion. On Fridays he conveys many truths of knowledge from the Quran, thereby granting great benefit to the Muslims. Another is from the same city as Mawla Hakeem Nureddin Sahib, of the lineage of Hakeem Nureddin Sahib, who also nearly remains at this place and is deeply engaged in service. He is a sincere friend of ours, Dr. Arur Khan Sahib, who has departed from this world. It is indeed a cause for gratitude that four other sincere doctors, namely Khalifatul Masih Sahib of Lahore, Dr. Mouzafiq-e-Beg Sahib from Kalanpur, Dr. Mohammed Ismail Sahib, and Dr. Abdul Hakim Khan Sahib, are in our
are present in the Jamaat. Among them are some extremely sincere followers who have settled down. Among them is Mirza Khudabash Sahib from Sahibzada Sirajul Haq Sahib, Sir Sahibi, who carried out the migration from his homeland and came to Qadian, just like many other gentlemen. And we pray for all of them that this migration may be blessed. Moulana Qibnududin Sahib is a shining candle for our community. Daily he gives lessons from my Quran, Hadith, and imparts such truth and insights therein. That will not be the support, alas, what is that then? Both wish, with deep inner sincerity, to spend their lives in Qadian and also to die in Qadian. As for that sincere group within our Jamaat who are engaged in trade and business, belonging to it is Hild Abdur Rahman Sahib, a merchant from Madras, Grandusloh. He has seized numerous opportunities to attain divine reward, and he is such a passionate lover that, despite the great distance, he is very close, and the long can be greatly supported in our community. His truthfulness and his continuous services, filled with love, faith, and certainty, serve as an example for all the members of the Jamaat. For there are only fewer like them. He sends, without any official position, a Drupien monthly and has already sent amounts of up to 500 rupees multiple times to date. This sum was, in any time, an enormous amount, which he sent for the propagation of the religion and the provision for guests, and the monthly 100 rupees came in addition. Similarly, it is with my beloved Alaswil, the Sheikh Ramatullah Sahib, the merchant and Seed from Lahore. I know very well that the Seed is devoted to us in body and soul. In the criminal proceedings that were pursued, he stood by us with great financial means and showed his solidarity with passionate love tirelessly and almost boundlessly in service for me. Now, because he is in London, where he had incurred 100 rupees in costs for our work, may Allah bring him back safely soon. This concerns the time when he traveled to London. He says it is also worth mentioning that the loving Sardar Muhammad Ali Khan Sahib has also made great progress in love and sincerity. Farah Shafsin testifies that he will very soon reach the peak of an enviable sincerity and love. He has always tried, within his means, to support us financially. And there is hope that he will in the future donate his wealth in even greater quantities on the path of God. Therefore, there is no necessity for me to say or write anything. He also said that there are many other sincere persons, but he added regretfully that it is a matter of public notice and the text is to be freed. He later said for them, all, that God may grant him the happiness of both worlds. Everything is under the eye of Allah. This was the manner in which the true servant of the Prophet, namely the Faiz M. S. Helfan, expressed gratitude. The Faiz M. S. himself expressed boundless gratitude for the smallest service done to him by anyone. In our neighborhood there was a non-Ahmadi who prepared Faluda. When the Faiz M. S. Helfan came to the house of Raja Kamaluddin, this Faluda preparer said to me, if you obtain permission from Hasid for me, I would like to prepare Faluda for Hasid. He said he would like to obtain permission from Hasid, but he does not want more. He wants to obtain permission from Hasid, I would like to prepare Faluda for Hasid. He said to Faiz M. S., so I said to Faiz M. S., it is said, and Hasid approved it. Thereupon he came with all his things there and prepared it for Hasid. The Faiz M. S.
Helfan was thus with Raja Kamaluddin. I presented this to Faiz M. S., and Faiz M. S. said that it had already been communicated to Faiz M. S. beforehand. The man then sat down and prepared a bowl of Faluda, that is, the sweet drink. He enjoyed it and praised it with the words that it tastes very excellent. Afterwards, the man sent in ten or two more bowls of Faluda, from which everyone drank. Thereupon, Faiz M. S. took out two rupees and said to me, that is, at that time I also possessed two rupees to a high degree, and said, give it to the man. I took the two rupees and went to him, said the supplier. However, he declined to accept them, saying, please take me to Hasid Sahib. I broke off to Faiz M. S., and he folded his hands before Hasid Sahib and said, I do not need two rupees. I have presented this Faluda as a gift. Due to his refusal, Hasid Sahib did not give him the money, but instead prayed for him, said Zazmullah As-Sanal-Jaza. He continues to report that it is the blessing of the prayer for this young man that his children are today engaged in very high positions. M. Ibrahim Sahib reports that once the Jamaat Sealkot, under which also I, Hamid Shah, the deceased, Jaudi Nisrullah Khan, and my humble self heard, Hasur once presented some money as a gift. Hasur, may Allah have mercy on him, accepted the cloth in which the money was wrapped and first spoke Alhamdulillah, then Zazmullah. This also strengthens our faith, for we saw that Faisal Musiess first thanked God and then prayed for us. I have also mentioned before that Faisal Musiess always says, first thank Allah and then thank people. There is an incident of Zulqfar Ali Ghor Sahib. Once Faisal Musiess came, that is, I was in the lower area, and Zulqar from the Betot Doha, which was located on the ground floor, came out at 10 o'clock, as he had applied Henna paste to the Betot Doha, a small chamber. He had applied a dye to his bath and his head, in which one used to use Henna. And Faisal Musiess did the same, he came and a door opened in the inner room. That was on my side. As I was in a state of helplessness, I waited in that chamber for Zulqar to come out, when Zulqar came out of the Betot Doha. He sat down on a bed, he said to me that I should tell Maul, as I was to convey to Zadrash Sahib, that he might bring us some food here. At that time, yesterday was there and the food was cooked once, and it was under the supervision of Zadrash Sahib. I went there, conveyed the request, exactly at that time, we had just finished our own meal. Not even 10 minutes had passed, yet there was no more food left within these 10 minutes, because everything had been consumed, there was nothing left, the people had already eaten. Thereupon, the face of Maul, that is Zadrash Sahib, paled when I delivered the message to him. Nevertheless, he took a small bowl with milk, placed 3 slices of toast, finely cut, and brought them in together with some sugar. His face was drawn, he was deeply distressed that the great Messir had asked for food, but none was left. Reichschesse said, Zulqar at that moment unfortunately there was nothing else, I was deeply astonished. Zulqar Al-Ihrant, the narrator, said that no food had been reserved for the great Messir, what kind of organization was that? He accepted the food with utmost gratitude, which is clearly readable from his face. This was not a purely external or artificial gesture, but it was a true expression of gratitude that also shone on his countenance. He took two of these toasts, dipped them in the sugar, Arsi, and then drank water with it. At that moment, the thought came to me that Allah these negligences and therefore Lord Geif
had brought about, so that the patience, the gratitude, and the high rank of the most exalted Master of the world would be revealed. The Companions used to record even such small details; on August 7, 1900, he wrote a letter of thanks on a sheet of paper, which was attached. He had sent a gift in the form of garments. Mr. Schreb, I have received the gift of the fine and noble garments, which you have granted in the highest love and sincerity. I express my thanks to him for this. When I examine each individual garment, it becomes evident that the loving friend had them made with great effort and sincerity. May Al-A'laim, in His infinite and hidden grace and mercy, descend upon them and endow them completely with the attributes of the Holy One through the garment of Truth. He has thus granted as an outer garment a gift, and in response to the thanks, He granted the Al-A'la and the garment of Truth in perfection. May Kamil Tawpur. He has helped himself on the way, and he has helped himself on the way, and Al-A'laim also wishes to adorn him with the attributes of Truth. The most exalted Master writes in a letter to Hazrat Munshi Ahmad Jahn, Sahib. My highly respected brother Munshi Ahmad Jahn, may Al-A'la protect and reward you, peace be with him. The kind letter of the noble gentleman has arrived; the blessings of the Generous God cannot be sufficiently appreciated, for He has provided such sincere friends for the lowest of servants, whose mere existence is a source of honor and pride for this insignificant one. May the Generous God keep them joyful and cheerful and reward them for these heartfelt attentions. He expresses great humility here and continues. This humble servant is utterly useless and insignificant, and it is solely the pure grace and mercy of Al-A'la that He causes countless blessings to rain down upon this unworthy one, to whom not even the slightest claim is due. I discover fault upon fault in myself. Consider the high rank of the most exalted Master and then see this humility. Yet Al-A'la, the Exalted, bestows favor upon me, favor after favor. Al-A'la sees error upon error in me, yet showers me with reward after reward. In truth, He is exceedingly merciful and generous. From where shall I take a tongue with which I could thank Him? This modest servant is a nothing, humble, destitute, and an absolute beggar. He cast me into the dust and raised me up. He saw me as utterly unworthy and yet covered my defects. In view of my weakness, I lose strength in myself. In the face of my ignorance, He granted me knowledge. He assigned to my state blessings that I cannot count. It consists in the fact that He has placed the love for this servant in the hearts of such honorable brothers. It is His custom to express gratitude to His All-Perfection. In view of His blessings, it gives confidence that He will deepen this love further. He has inserted the love into this chain. After composing this letter, he felt the verse of another musician as if on the farm. Never dies the one whose heart was enlivened by love. Our eternity is recorded in the registers of the world. This means that no person ever dies whose heart has awakened to life through love. And our eternal duration is indelibly recorded in the registers of the world, that is, in world history. Another letter to the Zitatgesis Huru Din Akmal Sahib, who had sent some books for support, he wrote: I have received your three books as a gift from you. Desagmulah Khairan, I have glanced through all three. It is an excellent and well-founded exposition. May God, the Benefactor, reward you richly for this. Amen, you should this work at every
at an appropriate opportunity to publish, so that they may receive a double reward. Likewise, he composed his letter to Dr. Khalifa Rashid Din Sahib. My beloved brother Dr. Khalifa Rashid Din Sahib, thus he appended it. Dr. Khalifa Rashid Din Sahib was the father-in-law of the Second Caliph and the father of Hazrat Umme Nasser. In the letter, he had to write to her, my beloved brother Dr. Khalifa Rashid Din Sahib. As-salamu alaikum, peace and well-being. The amount of 50 euros that you sent has reached me at such a critical time of need. The malicious accuser who has sued me in court—your financial and constant support is most grateful. May Allah reward you with the best. Then he explains that the date of the court hearing is February 24, 1999, and he adds: Most likely, the Eid will fall on a Sunday, and on the following Monday, we must travel to Pathanpur for the proceedings. He says, I have made a vow that I will pray intensely for you for a period of time. As thanks for this, the one who made the vow said that I will pray for you for a period of time. May Allah bless you abundantly. He was far away and wanted to come from there. The one who made the vow said, Amin, I have made a vow. He said, Amin, that you have arrived safely. He said that he would pray for you for a period of time. He said he wished to thank you for this kind gift. He said he wished to always bring you joy and protect you from the corruptions of this world. Along with gratitude, he also prayed for progress and a leap forward in faith. Shildman Mut Al-Masjid reported that he stood to say Mawli Nuddin Saif. When the Messiah delivered the Khutbah for Eid al-Adha in Arabic, and later people asked him about the state of affairs, he said, an angel brought before me a continuous tablet, inscribed with large letters. It was inscribed, and I read it aloud and delivered it. A tablet appeared as I recited it, then the next one came, and the previous one disappeared. Thus, tablet after tablet came. A scribe asked two persons again; the promised one, Monsieur, is in the law, she is writing along. Thus, the already vanished tablet returned, so that I could convey the contents to the listeners. When this address was finished, he fell into a prostration of thanks, and all those present performed this prostration with him. When the one who made the vow lifted his head from the prostration, he said, just now I saw the word Mubarak, meaning blessed, written in red letters; this is simultaneously a sign of acceptance. Thus, Mir Rosodin Sa'ib reported that the Messiah, together with Monsieur Salessa, composed the work of the lecture from Sealkot on the roof of the house of Mir Hussain Medinz. Four ink pots were placed on the four surrounding walls. There was a low wall there on which they stood, and he used to write while walking around. It was approximately the time of the Asr prayer. And Tazut wrote while walking, and from time to time also into the prostration, when Allah made a particular depth of thought manifest to him in every moment, as thanks for the completion, he performed the prostration. All of this, he says, we also witnessed on the roof of our house. And many persons also witnessed it and were present there to see it. We lived very nearby, and it was also elevated, thereby we could experience and see all of it, how the Messiah wrote the book and repeatedly thanked Allah for it. A companion, Haza Trayrodin, shows the gratitude of the Messiah with the following words. When the Messiah once came to our village, Kadirabad, he handed a plate full of traditional sugar to my mother, Tajibi, who was with him. So he placed this sugar in the lap of the grandmother who was sitting there, handed it to her, said to her Zakulam, and prayed for us. He used to himself for
to give thanks for the smallest things. It is reported about the Beloved of the Messiah that once, the Beloved of the Messiah went there for a matter. On that very day, that is, after Sialkot, and on that very day I also went there, filled with the desire to see him. Huzoor stopped on the upper floor of a house, while below a flock of followers longed for his appearance and waited. He came down and granted those present the honor of seeing him. When an old man met Huzoor, he burst into loud weeping. Huzoor comforted him and inquired about his well-being; the man said, “Huzoor, I have always prayed to remain alive until Huzoor becomes the Imam, as it seems.” Huzoor replied, “My good man, then Allah has truly answered your prayer.” The old man was greatly pleased. He brought his grandson to Huzoor and asked him to pass his blessed hand over the boy and to make a dua for him. Huzoor made the dua and went back upstairs. He further reports an incident that clarifies the gratitude of the Beloved of the Messiah. The foregoing was merely the introduction and context for this. As he was going upstairs, one of his shoes, which was extremely plain, accidentally slipped off his foot and fell down; he picked it up and put it back on with his own hands. Thereupon Huzoor smiled and said to me in affectionate words,

the Lord of the worlds the greatest I bear witness that there is none other than God I bear witness that we are the Lord of the worlds Ich schäge, dass der Messenger nicht über den Prayer ist. Er über den Prayer ist. Er über den Fertig-Ein. Hallekum Alaykum. In Anbetracht meiner Schwäche verliere mir selbst Kraft. Mein geliebter Bruder Dr. Khalifa Rashid Din Sahib, also er fügte ihn so.
